I have my heart set on the uppababy vista. Please can one of you lovely people let me know if it will fit in the boot of an Audi a3?

Just so you know I've seen it on pramworld for £499.99. It's the buggy and the carrycot. Not sure if that's what you were after

Auntybella · 18/08/2013 14:07

Sorry! I've just noticed its only that colour available at the price!

AnythingNotEverything · 18/08/2013 16:04

I've noticed that the seat is only suitable from 6 months - what do you do when your baby is a bit big for the carrycot but not yet 6 months? I thought I'd seen a kind of insert to make it snuggiler, but am not thinking I may have dreamt it.

Just about to order ours. Exciting!

H369 · 18/08/2013 17:08

AnythingnotEverything - There's a snugseat - I think that's what you mean. Although I emailed uppababy to ask if that meant the seat was okay to use before 6 months and they wouldn't say yes because it is only approved from 6 months. They said it is parental discretion before that.

Auntybella - yes, I saw the Cole Blue. It's a discontinued colour hence the reduction. I'm not sure what baby is though, so wanted Jake Black or Mica Silver. :-)

I'm just not sure how often we'll get to use the carrycot for going out as I'm due in December. Also, for financial reasons I have to go back to work after 12 weeks. :-(

H369 · 18/08/2013 17:11

AnythingnotEverything - where are you ordering from. I can't decide between Kiddicare who give 1 year guarantee from EDD or John Lewis who give 2 years but from date of purchase. Suppose John Lewis is the no brainer really as I'll get longer overall.

How many weeks are you for thinking about ordering?

AnythingNotEverything · 18/08/2013 17:26

I'm 32 weeks and have just ordered from John Lewis - we had just enough vouchers left over from our wedding list (don't judge, mumsnet - people were very generous!), plus it was much clearer from JL exactly what came with it, and their customer service is second to none. I can collect it tomorrow from our nearest Waitrose.

I know it's early but during September I've got DS1 back at high school, finishing work, two bathrooms being refurbed, NCT classes, and baptism preparation for this LO. I thought I needed to get moving!

Mayanbob · 18/08/2013 17:51

Uppababy do a manufacturers warranty for 2 years but you need to register on website.

We picked ours up in kiddicare at about 32 weeks. We got silver as they didn't have black in stock in store- if we'd been willing to wait 24 hours we could have had black.

redcaryellowcar · 18/08/2013 18:07

In answer to questions about buying something more compact, we have had ours for two years now, its great folds so easily and is light but handles so much better than maclaren or other umbrella fold, others in our nct group did swap their bigger more cumbersome prams for maclaren or similar around 6 months but with uppababy vista I can't see why you would?
As for carrycot ds is above 99.6th centile for height so got a bit long for carrycot around 4/5 months, we moved him into pushchair bit with sheepskin liner from mothercare (hadn't thought to look to see if uppababy did one) and he was fine, the five point harness is really secure and pushchair tilt is easily adjustable so he was almost as flat as in carrycot.
Lastly withregard to price we were really pleased that what we paid included both carrycot and Pam seat and also rain covers and flynets for both, friends who bought Phil and teds said theirs was initially cheaper but so many extras to buy on top of basic chair!

H369 · 18/08/2013 21:26

Oh, I think I'm going to get one. I just want to take someone for a second opinion on the colour choice. :-) I'm so indecisive. I haven't hit the third trimester yet, but when I went browsing the other day one woman in this baby boutique was clearly trying to freak me out by telling me that I was late ordering for a December baby!!!
John Lewis and Kiddicare both seem to offer delivery next day or within a week. Think I'll go to John Lewis in the end. Wonder if they'll price match the one I've seen online for 599.99? Every penny counts, after all!

Madamecastafiore · 18/08/2013 21:33

My lovely auntie is going to get me one as a pressie as she works in JL so will get a good discount. I am going to get a red one as hope to use for no 4 maybe one day.

After reading all reviews and feedback on here really looks the best pushchair around.

AnythingNotEverything · 18/08/2013 21:35

Ours should be ready at 2pm tomorrow. I'm so excited. I want to get it out of the box and take it for a walk.

Except that would be very weird, right?!

We went for Denny Red by the way. I could actually pop.

laeiou · 18/08/2013 23:10

DS went into the pushchair seat at 3m. He was long, strong and could already roll over. I didn't buy a snug seat thing as he was already at the top weight limit for the uppababy one. The most reclined position plus the 5 point harness worked fine for him.

b0nker5Mum · 19/08/2013 08:30

I quite like this pram and think it's great value for money but has anyone compared with the bugaboo? DP likes the bugaboo but I can't help swinging more towards the uppababy especially when you think of what comes with it and the fact you can turn it into a double...

I'm wondering how it pushes? I've only tried the bugaboo in the nice tiled floors of mothercare and it's lovely to push but how does the uppababy compare with that? is it easy to push with one hand if necessary?

Those of you using the carrycot as a Moses basket, did you use it with the stand?

TinyTear · 19/08/2013 08:45

b0nker5Mum, the wheels are bigger than the Bugaboo ones and for me that is key.

going for walks in rough terrain with a friend with a bugaboo, my vista is more steady and hers was bumping all over the place.

the uppababy is easy to push with one hand, holding an umbrella with the other hand! and ok in the snow, i've had 2 winters so far with mine...

yes I did buy the stand for the carrycot.
the carrycot is actually still on the stand in a corner of my daughter's room where we put the clean laundry on top and the dirty on the bottom shelf ;-)

Fairydogmother · 19/08/2013 10:23

I've bought the vista in black and orange for our November due baby and can't wait to use it. My friend has one and says its the best buy she's ever made. Sturdy, tyres can't burst, easily collapsible etc.

You can get laundry attachments for the bassinet stand to convert it into a washing basket if anyone has bought the stand! There's also a travel bag if you plan to travel and this provides insurance by uppababy in case the airline mangles your buggy (high chance of that!)

Brilliant pram all round

b0nker5Mum · 19/08/2013 16:47

Thanks, I am definately swaying more towards this....

One thing I'm uncertain of tho, (thanks for the link to pramworld btw(sorry can't remember who it was)) but as I'm unsure of the sex and want a unisex colour I quite like the cole blue colour so I wondered if anyone knows whether the discontinued colours are an older model and therefore don't have all the same specs? And are there other disadvantages of getting an older model? Ie warrantees etc?

Rockchick1984 · 19/08/2013 18:12

The only thing that puts me off is the width. Oh, and the fact that you can't use the rumble seat with carrycot, although with a 3 year age gap I'm hoping not to need to use a second seat anyway.

Bonkers the reduced one is the same spec, and comes with all the same warranties. Personally love the new Taylor Blue, think it looks gorgeous and would look lovely with a red pram liner!

AnythingNotEverything · 19/08/2013 18:50

I think for the first few months with a second baby you could compromise with a sling, or a buggy board (they call it something different I think) for the older one.

There's always a compromise when you try find a double!

Dusty04 · 20/08/2013 09:18

Does anyone who owns the Uppababy vista have a picture of the black frame? We're undecided on it as my DH hates the prominent welds on the front of the silver frame.. and he wondered if they were less prominent on the black..?

Fairydogmother · 20/08/2013 10:46

I have the black one but not sure how to upload a photo!

Fairydogmother · 20/08/2013 10:52

I've tried to upload a photo for you but it keeps flipping it upside down! Hopefully you can see what you need to tho

Gooseysgirl · 20/08/2013 11:04

Just to add to all the positive feedback on here, we also have a vista (2011 model) and absolutely love it. It fits easily into the boot of our 207 with one wheel popped off. But one of the best things about it is the huuuuge basket! No need to dangle stuff off the handlebars... We are expecting DC2 in Dec and will be ordering the toddler seat attachment... this was one if the reasons we bought the vista as we we were hoping to have a second child and did not want to shell out again for a double buggy!

offonajolly · 20/08/2013 19:47

Did anyone use the bassinet without the stand for it to go on? I've heard it has ventilation underneath so it is not essential for it to go onto a stand?

offonajolly · 20/08/2013 19:47

as a moses basket I mean...
