My best friend is pregnant and want to give her a gift of things to help with morning sickness, last time she said she ate lots of gingerbread men.

So lovely lot, what suggestions can i put in it? Obviously I haven't had morning sickness so no idea on what will help :-)

So far I've come up with

  • ginger biscuits
  • Gingerbread men
  • ginger and elderflower squash

Mouth wash, mini packets of Cheerios, Chewing gum, Ginger beer, fizzy water, ham sandwiches, flask of hot water.

Just a few things that helped, I am 15 weeks and still have a bag of cheerios before I get out of bed!!

You are such lovely friend, I wish I had had a great friend like you when I was in the thick of it!

Nice mints ... I'm on Murray mints, or maybe a bag with humbugs and the striped ones etc.

If she hasnt already got them then travel wrist bands can sometimes help too. Maybe a bottle of sparkling water too.

And a voucher for a treat to a nice girly lunch once she's feeling more human & able to face food again.

Ginger and lemon tea was my saviour! Twinings is good, the Aldi version is just as good!

I found I could only cope with what I call 'fake' food, so lots of super noodles, pasta n' sauces etc. Beans on toast was good, as is peanut butter as it gave me loads energy when I didn't have any. Also I had some plain digestive biscuits on my desk and this tea - www.earthmamaangelbaby.co.uk/shop/morning-wellness-tea-box-of-16-teabags.html (it was an amazing gift from my mum).
Oh and jelly! I loved jelly.

What a lovely friend. My so called best mate hasnt even asked me how i feel let alone do anythin to help!

Ive been lucky with my 3 pgs and never really had sickness but i think just knowing you are there and providing support will be helpful for her :-)

Rich Tea biscuits, nice 'sucky' sweets/lollies, coke, fizzy water.

bonzo77 · 10/08/2013 16:24

Hula hoops. Lemonade. Super noodles. Sea bands.

KarmaBiatch · 10/08/2013 16:45

Just popped by to say that you are an amazing friend, too cute and thoughtful :)

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 10/08/2013 16:49

Don't put it in a basket. Put it in a bucket Grin

doesmyparentinglookbadinthis · 10/08/2013 16:52

What a lovely idea! I found mini Cheddars really helped.

Vatta · 10/08/2013 16:57

Mint toffees, they were the only thing I found helpful.

andadietcoke · 10/08/2013 18:32

For me tangfastics, breakfast biscuits and sea salt and balsamic vinegar kettle chips kept me sane. The breakfast biscuits were the best though - they're individually wrapped so I could always keep them in my handbag.
Definitively cordial. Water made me sick and cordial meant I could stay hydrated.
Lovely thing to do by the way!

SeaWave · 10/08/2013 18:41

Thanks all, loving the idea to put it in a bucket tondelayo!!

How about a DVD to watch when she's sitting on the sofa feeling rubbish?

FieryChipotle · 10/08/2013 18:57

Some nice headbands to hold her hair back! Personally I would avoid foodstuffs, as when I had hyperemesis with my DTs even the mere mention of food on an advert would have me throwing up!

BunInMyOven93 · 11/08/2013 00:01

Any type of mints. I swore by polo mints they worked wonders. Read onlije that they help and they realllllllly did x

EdwiniasRevenge · 11/08/2013 00:03

I sucked a lot of boiled sweets. Particularly fruity ones.

Anjou · 11/08/2013 00:13

Something that smells nice (and non food-y!!) that can be carried around. I couldn't go anywhere near the kitchen for weeks when pregnant with DS2, as just the smell of DH cooking DS1's food would make me ill.

Other than that, ready salted crisps. Smile

I am another fan of the earth angel tea bags!

Fruit pastilles - aka instant and continuous sugar - got me through the first few weeks!

ovenbun · 11/08/2013 07:08

i vote fruit pastilles too :) love the bucket idea! you are a lovely friend :)

MyNameIsSuz · 11/08/2013 07:10

Maybe a couple of trashy magazines for when she goes to bed at 8pm feeling too icky to sleep? I was also hooked on rennies and extra strong mints, peppermint tea is good for sickness too.
