My best friend is pregnant and want to give her a gift of things to help with morning sickness, last time she said she ate lots of gingerbread men.

So lovely lot, what suggestions can i put in it? Obviously I haven't had morning sickness so no idea on what will help :-)

So far I've come up with

  • ginger biscuits
  • Gingerbread men
  • ginger and elderflower squash

I am in the throes of morning sickness - 8 weeks pg and throwing up morning noon and night. Yes to sparkling water, super noodles and ginger biscuits. I also nibble on plain crackers or cracottes all the time. Oh yes and bananas. You are a lovely friend she is very lucky. Maybe toothbrush and face cloth for the freshening up post puke?! Although in my first pregnancy brushing my teeth made me gag so don't know if she has that too...

Fizzy cola bottles and a voucher for a food shop. We all suffer slightly differently and to different extents. The thought of food might make her feel poorly.

I survived on fizzy cola bottles and dried crackers. To drink, I drank galoons of flavoured fizzy water, until one day I decided I didn'like flavoured water any more, then went to non flavoured, then went on to squash.

I liked vinegry stuff, like home made slad dressing on tomatoes, but some people prefer to keep away from vinegery stuff.

Sorry if this isn't much help.

These are lovely and there's two different ones per trimester.

I second the polo mints and sparkling water suggestions. I haven't made it into work many days, but when I have these have been my saviour.

I wouldn't put any food in there, it might set her off!

What a lovely friend you are!

Nestea - flavoured ice tea was my saviour. I was close to being hospitalised with hyperemesis on dd2 due to dehydration. I couldn't bear fizzy drinks or hot drinks or water but somehow ready made ice tea was bearable.

Extra strong mints. Icy lemon fanta. Cheesy crackers. I found the smell of lemon helped a bit, but it's not really practical to carry around cut up lemon! So maybe something lemon scented. If she has really bad sickness then stick a good box set or some easy reading in there - I watched all of mad men whilst I was signed off work with HG.
You sound like a lovely friend Smile

I got through the first trimester on polos, fizzy bitter lemon, cheerios, plain Pringles and ginger biscuits. You're a lovely friend Grin

FieryChipotle said.

All I wanted was someone to look after my children so I could rest.

If I'd been given a basket of food, I would probably havethrown up, and then cried.

Nappy bags are very useful for being sick into while out and about.....

You are a lovely friend, what a great idea.
Twiglets & orange juice got me through Smile

Lucozade, callipos, chewits, salt and vinegar crisps!

soozlewoozle · 19/09/2013 08:41

I love the bucket idea and going through week 8 of sickness, I swear by dairy milk and polos!!! Big chewy chocolate chip cookies are good too, as they settle and fill my tummy :-)

Missfrumpsalot · 19/09/2013 08:43

Lemon sherberts really helped me.

Thesunrising · 19/09/2013 08:47

Sour skittles and limes (to suck on - helped get rid of the horrible 'off' taste in my mouth).

ipswichwitch · 19/09/2013 09:14

Any kind of tasty boiled sweet that helps get rid of the god awful, ever present manky taste in the mouth. I only started vomiting when I could taste that!
