Hiya. I'm 24+1 with DC1 and it's all becoming a bit real. I've also spent too much time googling every twinge in the last week or so and am in danger of deciding I've got every possible thing going....

So - for balance, can you please share your dull, boring stories of perfectly normal pregnancies? I just need a couple of lines of tedium from a few people to offset my impending hypochondria.

Many thanks

Got fat, didn't fancy the smell of coffee, ate my own body weight in Magnum ice creams. Had baby - came out a bit slowly so they took it out through the sunroof. Baby fine.
Got fat again, not such a hot summer second time around so didn't eat quite so many Magnums. Had baby - came out a bit slowly so they used forceps. Baby fine.

Step awaaaay from google!

But if you really want/need/obsessing you could try this- I limited myself to only looking up NHS website, patient.co.uk and mumsnet. All of the googleverse was just too scary (and not uk relevant US info) & incorrect.

Another problem free pregnancy (after week 16 any rate- HG from week 10)
Slightly dodgy hips that were fine after the birth.

If you want to read stuff I recommend reading up about bf. I was clueless. I thought everyone who ff did so by choice. Ha!
It's actually quite a skill to master.

Good luck, you will be fine SmileSmileSmile

Verydull that's a very funny rundown Grin

titzup · 18/07/2013 23:44

totally boringly normal here, didn't even feel a single 'braxton hicks' thingy. Got a bit uncomfortably large and kicked in the ribs, bit nauseous but never puked. Turned out breech in the end but was cut out without a single issue and healed really well Grin

AuntPittypat · 18/07/2013 23:57

Absolutely fine pregnancy for me too. No sickness, no swollen ankles, no SPD, no stretchmarks, no weird cravings.... If it wasn't for my beautiful DD now fast asleep in her cot (after arriving bang on time and no horror birth stories either), I'm not sure I'd believe I was ever pregnant!

Feels a bit like boasting, which I guess could be why the good/normal pregnancy and birth stories don't get talked about so much. (Genuine sympathy for anyone who struggles, btw)

Congratulations Blankiefan. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Three normal pregnancies, a bit of morning sickness but nothing more serious than that. The midwife said to me "your iron levels are excellent, keep eating whatever you're eating" and looked a bit shocked when I said "mainly chocolate"!

Three normal labours. Epidural for DC1, gas and air for all of them.

Three healthy babies, all weighing around 8lb 10 oz.

Good luck OP!

37 weeks with first this Saturday. Everything has gone very smoothly so far. Small amounts of bleeding in the early days which turned out to be nothing, and some back-ache, but otherwise not bad for a 35-year-old. No morning sickness, piles, swelling or stretch-marks (yet! crosses fingers). Low-lying placenta at 20 weeks; it's moved. Baby transverse at 34 weeks; she's now head down and engaged.

Oh, a little bit of insomnia - clearly!

I had an easy pregnancy. My first. No morning sickness, little weight gain, continued to exercise during pregnancy, . Quick labour of 4 hours with no stitches.

Sunnysummer · 19/07/2013 04:08

Deeply boring pregnancy, the most exciting thing was that I lost my appetite a bit in the first trimester so ended up going home from hospital in my old jeans (result!). Other than that, I did get a varicose vein in my lady parts, but that went away after delivery, and I also got piles that sadly did not.

This was followed by a deeply boring delivery, 12 hours of natural labour with 10 hours of what my hypnobirthing told me was 'intense sensation', 1.5 hours of thinking 'fuck intense sensations, this HURTS', and half an hour of very exciting pushing, resulting in a healthily screaming baby, and no tears or stitching (also awesome!)

The next few weeks, mind you, were a bit of an initiation of fire as we discovered the true meaning of reflux... But you can't have it perfect all around! Good luck and I hope that your experience is just as normal and boring and wonderful Smile

freerangechickens · 19/07/2013 05:30

2 pregnancies, both with nothing wrong for either me or the baby. One bigger than average healthy baby, one average sized healthy baby. Less than 5 hours of labour total between the 2 births, had to have natural births with both as I was so far gone by the time I got to the hospital, and lived through it, and then lost the weight really quickly.

Don't ask me about how little the 2nd one slept the first years of her life, though.

purplemurple1 · 19/07/2013 06:50

Nothing special to report here either, 33wks and a bit of indigestion and constipation over the months, and just starting to notice BH but not painfully.

Ahhhcrap · 19/07/2013 07:35

Step away from google Grin

For pregnant, was sick a few times DD arrived 2 days early - that was it really

BelissimaLol · 19/07/2013 07:40

I did have an early miscarriage a year ago so when I feel pg again I was in utter panic all the time. About everything including my age (38).
But.
I have not thrown up once, not had any bleeding and not even had massive mood swings (DH might disagree on that one!!)
Will be 39 weeks on tue and am still at work. Even the heat is not killing me.
Mw told me my pg has been very boring!
I've no stretch marks but do have fat fingers and had to take off wedding ring!!! My major inconvenience is that I've craved Krispy Kreme donuts like there is no tomorrow and the closest shop is 10 miles away!!! Confused

CuppaSarah · 19/07/2013 09:14

I'd love to tell you the tale of my normal uncomplicated pregnancy. But there's no story to tell, I have sex, got pregnant, had a baby.

(This is not including all the full fledged dramas and scares I created in my head)

GeekInThePink · 19/07/2013 09:22

Three pregnancies, three healthy babies all at full term.

Twinges are normal you are growing and things are moving around to adjust to your baby's needs.
Keep a close eye on movement and always call a midwife if you aren't happy re movement.

Remember Google isn't a real Doctor!

giddywithglee · 19/07/2013 11:53

Also you know your own body, so trust it. When I went into labour with DS2, I rocked up at hospital after a few hours in agony at home. The MWs told me to calm down as I had ages to go. 45 mins later DS2 arrived while the MW's back was turned, ha ha!

(DS1 is another, long, boring story).

giddywithglee · 19/07/2013 12:06

Meant to say trust your instincts.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 19/07/2013 14:16

26+6 here and nothing to report. No sickness, no serious cravings, eating more chocolate than usual but still in normal dress size, just maternity versions of it. A bit hot and tired, but it's a bit hot out there. Baby wiggling, bump growing.

thekatsatonthematt · 19/07/2013 14:24

38+1 today with number 2. Last day at work tomorrow. Was still doing most of my usual 8+ mile postal round until last week.

The only thing I can honestly complain about is leg cramps when I turn over at night.

Ds was a straightforward delivery. I'm fitter and healthier this time so am optimistic this one will be too.

Step away frim Google Grin

Dillydollydaydream · 19/07/2013 14:28

I've had 4 normal, healthy pregnancies and births.

5madthings · 19/07/2013 14:32

Five pregnancies all exceptionally normal, no swelling or heartburn or other issues, felt rather sick in first trimester but other than that all plain sailing. Five easy labours and natural births, big bouncing babies.

Pregnancy was the easy bit, my eldest is a teenager now...

willyoulistentome · 19/07/2013 14:34

Number 1 - Pregancy totally fine, not even any morning sickness - birth a bit grim.
Number 2 - a little bit of morning sickness for a couple of months - then totally fine - Birth fine and normal (agony..but fine and normal)

PatriciaHolm · 19/07/2013 14:35

Two very normal boring pregnancies here. No morning sickness, didn't put on any weight other than baby related weight, no noticeable tiredness, no cravings...my only symptom was a swelling bump. Two nice elective caesarians with very rapid recoveries, very little pain.

knittingirl · 19/07/2013 14:44

35 weeks with my first.

Only mild morning sickness, almost no backache, blood pressure hasn't changed, no anaemia, haven't gained excess amounts of weight, baby looks perfectly healthy, just a few little stretchmarks appearing.

Hope you have an equally boring and uneventful pregnancy!
