please help us !!!!!!!!!!! Charlie or Charley for a girl??????

me and the dh are struggling choosing which one any bodies suggestion would help

I would say Charley for a girl.
Great name, it is one of our possibilities for a boy.

But you have just identified the fact that everyone else will probably spell it incorrectly. Only do it if you know that your surname is easy to spell!

definate name not a shortening we both love it appaerently the charley spelling is pre war and was used to be for boys !!

would go for Charlotte and call her Charley as an informal nickname only, then at least when she's older she has the choice of using a formal/traditional name or not. ('All rise for the Right Honourable Member for Flydale North, Dame Charley Johnson...' maybe not.)

A friend's DD is called Charlie, and isn't short for anything, but it does feel as if it ought to be a shortened form of Charlotte.

I'm with Mrs. B avec on this. Charlotte, Carlotta, Charmaine (if you like that one)? Charlie looks too masculine to me.

her name will be charli/ey jayne so thats why we've not gone for charlotte etc we just need a decision(sp?) on the spelling
