please help someone. I am completely stuck. I do not have a list for you to choose from, but i do have these criteria:

name must not be too poncey (so not jeremy)
ideally should be easy to pronounce in spanish (so not george)
pref should have a story of some kind. for that reason dh likes names connected to "marsh" (eg carson or fenton - but not those)
name must not be thomas

I don't ask for much do I? the only idea I have so far is Kier, but that should praps be a middle name. dh has a slightly girly name and is loath to inflict that on our child (is kier girly?)

What about Felix? does that translate into spanish?

Clary · 26/04/2006 19:47

oooh SP go on, call him Fidel, I do love it so
(my mother was so shocked at the thought of DS1 being named after Fidel Castro (!) that she (almost) approved of us naming him (as we did) after another left-wing hero.....

SenoraPostrophe · 27/04/2006 09:01

What about one of the mumsnetters names.
I like Clary and Tinker... Tutter's cute too!

My ds is called Kian. I love celtic names. Kier is nice (infact that's what ds calls himself as he can't make the 'n' sound yet! Also like Finian and Felix is cute (but then I like cats too)!

What about Deacon-Scott? Having a baby boy. Really like to know what others think of it?

Tinker · 27/04/2006 14:03

Fidel is cool. Like it.

SenoraPostrophe · 27/04/2006 14:21

scott's a nice name (I can't use it because spanish people would say "escot".). not sure about deacon.

I asked dh about fidel and he vetoed it. seemed to think it would be like having a child called "stalin" or something. It's funny actually - the spanish don't seem to have stigmas with names like we do. there are lots of fransisco/francos around and there's even an adolfo in ds's class at nursery. I've never met a fidel but I think that's just because it's never been very common.
