Hyperemesis - should I terminate?

This is my first pregnancy and I'm finding things incredibly difficult. For the past month I've had HG with a hospital admission. I'm on cyclizine and ondansetron which suppress the vomiting somewhat, not totally.
I've moved into my parents, leaving my husband at home because he works and I'm too weak todo anything.
Although im not vomiting so much I'm struggling to eat and drink, still losing weight, still have ketones. GP said was happy to admit me to hospital again but feels I can last while longer in comfort of mum and dads.
Considering its either me or the baby, I've always secretly judged people who have had terminations but have supported friends through them, I just feel I cannot go on like this.
My husband and parents want me to have the baby (I'm 32 btw) they are very supportive but I have no strength to fight it any more. I know i do want this baby but thinking about it scares the hell out of me, I don't think I can look after a baby when at the mo I can't look after myself.
If I don't have this baby I will never have any children as this hyperemesis has put me off for life.

Glad you are feeling a little bit better op.
I had hyperemesis both pregnancies so I can understand what you are going through.
I was sick every day, about 10-20 times for the first 24 weeks.
But it doesn't seem to have affected either of my DC. They were both born healthy and have stayed that way 23 and 16 years later.
I had very quick deliveries though. It's as if my body was no good at the pregnancy but excellent at the delivery. DD was even born on her due day- no pain relief, no stitches and all in a couple of hours.
Stick in there, it does get easier.

Hello!

I came across this old thread on my I'm watching section.

Thank you so much for all your support. It really did help to know I was not alone.

The sickness lasted until about 5 months, then I was left weak and underweight but I gradually built up my strength again. I even managed to get back to work before my mat leave started.

I gave birth to a lovely little girl who weighed 7lb 14oz - clearly the not eating for 5 months, and being on several medications did not affect her one bit!

I enjoyed the latter part of my pregnancy - although it was an upsetting time as my dad became very ill and passed away shortly after I had my daughter. Me and my mum ended up taking him out of hospital and cared for him at home until he died.

My little girl, despite the horrible timing of my dads illness (she is the first grandchild), has been such a blessing.
She is now 16 weeks old, and her little smile lights up my heart.

I know I said never again, but I have been recently thinking maybe we will go for another child. If I get sick again at least I know how to handle it and what to expect.

Much love to you all Smile
