i feel awful, really terrible. I'm only 6 weeks pregnant, have had sickness for three weeks, I now can hardly eat anything and I'm totally exhausted... as in an hour after getting up I'm, asleep again for three hours! This is my second pregnancy so i thought i knew what to expect.

I feel nausous (sp?) all the time rather than actually vomiting. I think I have been awake for a total of 7 hours today.

I had to have emergency surgery 2 weeks ago... suspected ectopic that turned out to be a cyst, lost lots of blood and had a general. Could it just be this? So worried this is gonna last for months.

Spinach...Poor you, i know so well how you feel though (i am 17 weeks), i was similar...felt sick but couldn't be sick and i have a 2.3 yo so even though i felt i coulda slept 24 hrs round the clock i couldn't, all i can say is try the acupressure bands from boots (anti travel sickness) they did help me, and just take it one day at a time, and try and keep eating as if you don't eat you will feel worse.I woke up one day (around 13/14 weeks) and felt so much better, sickness completely gone.

It will pass and get better. Smile

So sorry, it's tough I know, BUT.... in the grand scale of things..... you know it's worth it and the minute that sickness stops you just worry cos you're not not being sick! I know you know this, but, you're having a baby, it's wonderful, you're honoured and lucky and special and every mopment of sickness brings you closer to your son or daughter and every sinc]gle second of staring into a toilet bowl and feeling shit is so, so worth it. Congrartultions and lots of love Smile

spinach · 17/03/2006 21:30

thanks, I'll try the bands. I am managing t nibble on things, I know i have to keep eating. I drink plenty of milk which helps keep something in my stomach. its the tiredness which is so awful, cant understand why its so bad this time around, this feels nothing like my first pregnancy.

spinach · 17/03/2006 21:32

thanks tomcat, you are right about 'if i wasnt sick' i can cope with the sickness, its the exhaustion i dont undertand. I know I'm lucky, I'm not moaning, I'm actually quite worried about myself for a change, normally I wouldnt be in the slightest bit concerned about me. think my hormones are getting the better of me.

Spinach...I also felt absolutely knackered lol, but it does lift, i do every now and then feel like that now but no where near as bad as i did the first 10 weeks, i am like you and have also felt much worse this time around...but keep your chin up girl Smile as i said don't think " i have got another x number of weeks of this left" just take it day by day, nibble food when you can, and what you feel like.

I can sympathise and I know, I know, I know, and bless your wprn out socks, but at the same time, how fab! Iykwim Smile I can't believe how bloody happy and contended I feel, and I know you'll be the same in just 8 months time. Smile

wads · 17/03/2006 21:36

spinach I'm on my 3rd pg & feeling 10 times worse than last one, which was 3 times as bad as first. Think it's definitely the tiredness of having other kids & not being able to grab naps. Feel like a godawful mother at the mo - short tempered & letting kids watch way too much tv so I can at least lie down for an hour. Just try to keep end in sight & be thankful you don't have hyperemisus (sp??) like some of the mums on here where you vomit 10 times a day for 9 months!

spinach · 17/03/2006 21:43

thanks guys, i know this is all normal and it'll go eventually, i just feel awful, particularly for dd who isnt getting any mummy time. I just wasnt expecting this, stupid of me i know.

You sound so like i was at the beginning of my second pregnancy, it was between weeks 5-8 i think i just felt so so sick but was not actually being sick, i could not get out of bed, i felt totally terrible which was all new to me because i flew through my pregnancy with my son felt a bit sick & a bit tired but otherwise i was fine. Also my second was a girl, totally different pregnancy my body reacted totally different to carrying a girl than a boy. Congratulations try & be strong you will get through it, i know how you feel cause i had to litterally drag myself out of bed to look after ds as there was no one else, but my god i felt like death.

Drink plenty of water Smile

Thomcat · 17/03/2006 21:51

ohhhhhhhhh mate, bless you, so know where you are coming from. It'll get better and then worse again and then you and your family will have a wonderful new addition. You are giving your DD the best gift in the world, a sibling, someone to share her whole life with, don't feel bad. Go and rub some oil into that growing belly and take a momednt to feel very beautiful and very specail and very, very lucky Smile

I am blissfully happy babes, nauseating isn't it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin I can't believe that my child isn't the best bay in the ENTIRE world. She's out of this world. Is she worth every night suffering heartburn, every morning, afternoon adn evening of sickness, every afternoon of utter exhaustion, every evening of staying and in and not drinking wine, of not being able to sleep, of painful full bit not full bladder, or worry that everything was ok, ............

Oh yes, absofuckinglutley!

She rocks.

I massively feel for you but you really are a very special and lucky, lovely lady.

Oh, spinach, my 1st and 3rd pregnancies were like this, I thought it would never end, it just went on and on, and EVERYONE in work figured out I was pregnant even thought I had intended to wait! It WILL get better. Some people find ginger good. Might be worth a try?

Hiya Hub2dee, where've you been?Smile

Spinach, can I suggest that you go and see your GP about the exhaustion? It might be that losing blood at the op has made you anaemic and that would be worth checking out cos you might benefit from treatment.

Just a thought.

Good luck and take it easy!

I have an appointmet with my gp on wednesday so i'll ask about the exhaustion, i don't think its normal to be this tired. I woke at 7.30 today and was asleep by 9, for three hours and I'm about to go back to bed.

InternationalGirl · 18/03/2006 20:13

Sorry to hear you are feeling so badly. I have also found it quite exhausting with this pg. I was working up until a couple of weeks ago and the only thing that kept me going was my preggie vitamins - you didn't say whether you were taking any but if you're not maybe they would help.

velcrobott · 18/03/2006 20:17

Spinach - would you consider accupuncture?

spinach · 18/03/2006 20:23

yes i am taking a supplement, and yes i would consider anything! how does acupunture work on fatigue and sickness, have you had it done velcrobott?

OP posts:
velcrobott · 18/03/2006 20:27

I know several people who said accupuncture worked really well for morning sickness... and I can't believe it wouldn't help generally. You shoud speak to them 1st and ask... a good one won't over promise!

PeachyClair · 18/03/2006 20:55

\link{http://www.hyperemesis.org.uk/\here}

try this site, loads of tips for severe morning sickness.

morning sickness is aggravated by exhaustion so get as much rest as you can, but try and eat little and often and follow the tips on the site. Try foods that contain water- melon, lettuce, ice pops- as that is the most important thing at this stage.

If you can't keep water down see a Dr. There's a rare condition called hyperemesis (been there yuck) and that needs medical treatment. But it IS rare- it's probably just exhaustion. deffo get checked for anaemia, and general post op stuff.
