Hi,
I'm looking for other pregnant Type 1 diabetics in London, just to have someone to keep in contact with and share advice/horror stories/support each other etc.
I don't actually know anyone at all with Type 1, despite having had it myself since 1989

I haven't had a lot of movement today, or rather, the pattern has changed.
I'm not sure whether to panic or not.
I'm teaching later this evening, so if I go to the hospital I won't be able to work.

I think you guys may be right. Is time to whack up that insulin! Thanks for the tip re. correction Bona. I've been giving myself 1u but have found in the last couple of days I need 1.5u to even dent things so maybe it is just time.

Re. Anterior placentas - I had one last pregnancy too!

Diec remind me of how far on you are? I could be totally wrong but I don't think it's until later on you start doing kick counts etc. It's so lovely when they move but so bloody worrying when they are quiet! What always used to work for me (probably 20weeks plus) is lying dead still on my back. Flat without a pillow or anything. My pudding hasn't done anything today and that combined with the couple of days of highs and bad flu jab reaction has me worried too. Perhaps it's time to invest in a Doppler.

dieciocho · 26/11/2012 15:07

Puds I'm 30 weeks, so I've been doing kick counts for over a month now.

If I don't go in to work, I won't get paid (crap contract), but something just feels...different, you know?

Hello everyone. Baby Felix was born at 12:26 today weighing 7lb13. Currently in SCBU we can't see him because they're putting him on breathing stuff I think but we expected SCBU so just have to wait and see

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 15:37

Huge congratulations Spotty!!!!!! And what a gorgeous name! Thinking of you and Felix and hope he's out of SCBU v soon. Aside from him being early is all okay as far as they can see? How are you feeling? How was labour? So happy we have our first thread baby!

Diec - I'm sure it's fine but absolutely go and get checked. Stuff work for tonight. Your peace of mind and making sure baby is ok is the most important thing.

dieciocho · 26/11/2012 15:39

Congratulations Spotty!!! Well done to you both.
That's a good weight.
I'm sure he'll be fine.

Damn you, you've used our top boy name! Good choice.

Oh no, this means I'm next.....

Puds, I've just called midwife and was told to lie still for 2 hours and if I feel nothing at all, to go in.
Well, I am feeling things, just very, very gentle things, but not like normal.

Grrr, not clear advice.

It wasn't fun to be honest! Didn't get any gas and air until 6cm and the contractions were constant, no breaks. Managed without sliding scale and pushed him out quite quickly even though there was talk of ventouse because of his heart rate.

RueDeWakening · 26/11/2012 16:25

Ooh congratulations Spotty! GrinGrinGrin

I've had 2 sections so far, so have no idea how long actual labour takes, btw! 19 hrs from waters breaking to emergency section with DS, and no contractions I was aware of at all during that time - they only came out then because DS decided to stand up, so was presenting feet first which is the worst possible position to be in (typical, he hasn't changed...Grin).

And fwiw I've had an anterior placenta both times to far, expect I'll get one again this time too but nobody's said yet. I also have a tilted uterus, and put it down to that?

dieciocho · 26/11/2012 16:31

Didn't the gas and air make you sick Spotty?
I've heard that it can and of course that'd really mess up our blood sugars.

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 16:53

Just gas and air! Spotty your my new hero! Did you have to have that hormone thing? Are you feeling okay?

Diet if it was me as long as I was feeling stuff is rest a bit easier but I remember that sensation of very strong kicks and movements and then things going a bit muffled and subdued. Guessing i'd say thr baby has moved. But I reckon if you go another hour or do without any good ones get yourself down and be checked. It's really not worth the worry and you won't relax until you know all is well although I'm absolutely sure it is.

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 16:54

You're my new hero not your!

And Diec - not diet!

BonaDea · 26/11/2012 16:55

CONGRATULATIONS Spotty and welcome to the world Baby Felix. Hope is all ok with him and he gets out of the SCBU soon. Ooooooh - how lovely!

Diec - I might be tempted (if I were you) to say that I'd followed the advice and hadn't felt anything just to justify you going in to be checked. If it doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel right. You'll only worry if you don't get it checked out.

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 16:56

Oh god Diec please ignore typos - hopefully you get the drift!

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 16:56

Agree with Bona. You know your baby's pattern.

SpottyTeacakes · 26/11/2012 17:54

No I was sick before the gas and air which I love! Think established labour was counted as a couple of hours!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/11/2012 17:55

Oh no hormone drip just prostin (so) which I think is a new thing much gentler apparently Smile

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 18:06

Yay! You've given me hope Spotty! So happy for you :-) is he gorgeous?

SpottyTeacakes · 26/11/2012 18:34

He's very, very chubby!! He has no neck!

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 18:48

Oh I love them chubby! Especially very, very chubby ones!

newbie6 · 26/11/2012 20:29

Yay! Huge congrats Spotty and lovely name :) well done! X

newbie6 · 26/11/2012 20:31

Diecoho, I called the hospital yest as I felt my movement had reduced and they got me in straight away. All was fine in the end but like others have said, for your own peace of mind go in, better to be checked. X

newbie6 · 26/11/2012 20:34

P.s I'm at a similar stage to you, am 32 weeks with anterior placenta so whilst I def feel movement it has always been a little muffled if that makes sense?

Mylittlepuds · 26/11/2012 21:31

Are we all anterior?! That's very bizarre if so...

SpottyTeacakes · 27/11/2012 09:28

I had an anterior placenta this time too!
