Does everyones boobs head south after having children?

That's the question, there was a post on here about sacrifices people had made for their kids and the most popular one was going from nice pert boobs to saggy, floppy, spaniels ears with massive nipples.

Does this happen to everyone? Is it linked to whether you breastfeed or not? Do they really look THAT bad? Is there anything to prevent/minimise it?

I know it sounds terribly vain but my boobs are the only part of my body I like!

How much will depend on your genes.

But yes, sorry, it's pretty universal (especially that your nipples darken), and it's not related to breastfeeding - the primary engorgement that will inevitably happen is the key event.

Tittywhistles · 29/08/2012 17:15

Not me, and as my name implies, they've had their fair share of usage!

I'm small normally though, 34A , I think if they were heavier they would have drooped am preg now so they are 34C. They rarely get bigger than that.

monsterchild · 29/08/2012 17:17

Mine began the journey well before any children. I'm only just now preggo with my first, and the boobs ahve been sagging for a while now.

granted, they are big, and I'm 40.

Gravity's a bitch.

AmethystMoon · 29/08/2012 17:19

Not so far, I started with pert 34Cs nipples stayed pale and small ( breast feeding using nipple shields as so small Blush), now pert 34 Fs, who knows once I stop breast feeding though Hmm

AmethystMoon · 29/08/2012 17:20

Oh and I am late 30s so not got youth on my side!

BlueMagoo · 29/08/2012 17:21

I breastfed both DC's,but I'm only a 32c. No sagging has ocurred, but I always sleep in a bra so that they don't flop to the side in the night Smile

sweetkitty · 29/08/2012 17:23

Mine were a 34D, after 4 babies all breast fed for more than a year, they are about a 34C, they aren't droopy as they are smallish but they feel less full, definitely less plump. Last BF a year ago. A good bra and they are ok looking. I'm quite proud of them actually they fed 4 babies!

OddBoots · 29/08/2012 17:26

Not so far, mine are medium sized, I'm mid-30s and have had 5 full term pregnancies.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 29/08/2012 17:28

Sorry, yes. Mine are currently keeping my armpits warm.

I don't wear a bra in the house and when I'm stood up the nips point down.

I'm in my early 30's so not expecting them to improve.

BunnyLebowski · 29/08/2012 17:29

Nope.

Even breastfeeding DD for 2 years didn't damage my baps in the slightest.

36C/D and still perfectly perky! I do the pencil test regularly. Nipples even more sensitive than before.

HecateHarshPants · 29/08/2012 17:30

yup. It's just nature.

they'll sag whether you have kids or not, as you age, but having them filled with milk does speed it along a bit Grin

Oh well, stuff them into a good bra and who can tell?

TheOneWithTheHair · 29/08/2012 17:34

Not after no.1 nor after no.2 but they did after no.3 and I'm putting that down to the fact there was 12 years between the first and the third. Grin

BuntyCollocks · 29/08/2012 20:45

Nope. Mine still point forwards, and my nipples haven't changed!

fotheringhay · 29/08/2012 20:52

Mine didn't change at all after having ds and bf for 16 months. Am 7m pg with ds2 and no change yet either (except bigger). We'll see after I finish bf this one!

Was small to start with btw.

mignonette · 29/08/2012 20:53

Absolutely not. I BF both my children for 18 months apiece and my breasts remain high and have not sagged at all. Nor did I experience the 'empty sack' look that a lot of women depict as pretty inevitable after childbirth and Bf hormones revert to original levels.

I hate exercise other than riding horses twice a week (which you'd imagine would drag breats south with all that trotting).

I did impose strict control over my dietary intake though during Pgcy and refused to become complacent about extra poundage. Fact is, a healthy average of weight woman with a good diet prior to conception will be able to grow and nourish both fetus and baby without adding layers of brown or other fat to thighs, breasts and buttocks during pgcy.

So it's not inevitable. Just avoid un-needed weight gain as that'll make them slump.

Runningblue · 29/08/2012 21:00

A little positive - after I finished breastfeeding at about 11 months, they looked empty, worn out and far less pert than pre preg.
But they did regroup, plump up a bit and in about 6 months were as near as dammit back to pre preg.
That said, I am now preg with dc2 so whether the recovery of the empty purses will be as good is anyone's guess!

Bluestocking · 29/08/2012 21:01

Not mine - still 34D and pointing forward. I breastfed for 18 months.

carrielou2007 · 29/08/2012 21:08

I had a lovely pair, 34d bf dd for 15 months they went down up a c but still pert. Never got dark in pregnancy but did get huge with when feeding. Fed ds for 2.1 years and literally nothing left, empty tea bags don't need x bra ax cxn't fill it Sad. Got better as almost 6 months since stopped feeding and mos they are looking fantastic again but that prob as preggers again.

NoComet · 29/08/2012 21:14

Nope it's called age, mine did fine with two DDs including the eternally BFing one.
It's getting to the wrong side of 40 that seems to be the problem.

The only good thing is they are too small to go very far.

Badgerina · 29/08/2012 21:16

I think it's down to having good collagen and that's largely genetic. I have small breasts and they're still pert after 4 years of feeding DS1. My mum has much bigger boobs than me, breastfed 4 children (for a total of about 4 years) and she also has lovely pert boobs at 60 years old Grin. We've both got fat knees though.

FamiliesShareGerms · 29/08/2012 21:19

Not necessarily.

Wear a M&S secret support vest in bed and a good bra the rest of the time

Flossiechops · 29/08/2012 21:20

Mine are still great after 2 dc, 34c/d and the best part of body in my opinion!

I think it's known as 'luck' mignonette or fluke.
Or to go with your genes.
I am sure your post didn't mean to infer anyone with a saggy or diminished bosom must be as a result of being fat/ not looking after themselves.
Pah!

Runningblue · 29/08/2012 22:06

Or did you, but that would be very generalised and silly wouldn't it?!
