19 weeks and gained a stone, 9st 4 to 10st 4 already, and that's after already gaining 6lb in the few months before pregnancy. My bump is so big and noticeable that men fling themselves out of their seats on the tube. Breasts have gone from a B to an E/F.

2nd pregnancy, going the way of the first. I've eaten a bit more but not been silly or inactive. I'm 5'9, tell me positive things!

Btw this thread is prompted by watching an old 'ONe born every minute' and realising a woma with TWINS had a bump not much bigger. I carry babies like they're stuck on the front of me, AND gain loads :-(

I have a huge bump too and I'm also 19 weeks! The difference is I was slightly overweight before getting pregnant and I'm also sensitive about how much I'm gaining.

However, I was so sick for so long in the first trimester (and part of the second) I'm just grateful to be eating normally again.

My boobs are big too - I've gone from a D to somewhere between a DD and an E, though - not too dramatic.

In my opinion, your body will gain what it needs to gain. As long as you're not bingeing on junk food, you're probably eating heathfully and normally, and you will self-adjust. 9 st 4 is very slim - I wouldn't worry!

PeshwariNaan · 20/08/2012 11:47

p.s. also, at your height your weight is very slim indeed!!

Blueaddie · 20/08/2012 12:13

If you are worried about that weight gain then I should have had my jaws wired shut weeks ago!!

I am a similar height and a whole lot heavier!

Don't stress over it, worst comes to the worst you can always lose it once the baby turns up. And enjoy the fact that you get a seat on the train.......I bet it is the boobs not the bump that is helping with that ;)

CountryKitty · 20/08/2012 12:13

If it makes you feel any better I'm just over 17 wks pg and have already put on a whole stone! I'm expecting DC3 and at 5'5'' I've gone from 8st 10 to 9st 10! I'm really not worried as am confident that it'll all fall off quickly after the birth. Well it did with DD 1 & 2 so fingers crossed this time! With both our girls I weighed 12st full term but was back in size 10 jeans within 2 weeks with first and 2 months with second. i love OBEM.

NewlyMintedPeasant · 20/08/2012 12:18

I love you all.

I just need to hear sense! Last time I gained 4.5stone and lost 5st in 14months. Mad, no effort to gain or loose!

The stretch marks are amazing though :-(

I am 5'9" and 31 weeks. I have put on 1 stone 5 lbs I think, but I started at 11stone 7 lbs.
If you are slim to start with (which you really were) it's totally normal to put on more weight. Enjoy the seats on the tube!
P.s. I am a fellow basketball smuggler in the bump shape dept- looks ridiculous Grin

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 20/08/2012 13:24

I started at 9 and a half stone - now 11 and a half stone and 25 weeks. You don't sound too bad at all OP and you're very tall to be in the early 9 stone bit to start with. You've got a huge amount of wriggle room with and I bet you look great.

Am fed up though and have no ankles left because of heat. It's DC3 and all I can think is how long I've got to go and I've already piled on 2 stone. Gah!! So sick of it and hoped my last pregnancy would be enjoyable reminds self how lucky I am

JennerOSity · 20/08/2012 15:02

I have also gained the standard maximum weight and have 2 months to go. Went for bra fitting today and lady asked when I was due - I inwardly sighed as I knew what was next - I said 2 months and she was all "OMG! You look ready to pop already!" inwardly I thought fuck off outwardly I said hmmm I know so everyone keeps telling me.

:(

I am going to be vast. I am only 5'3" so am basically a sphere.

NewlyMintedPeasant · 20/08/2012 15:06

I bet if we all saw each other we'd all be jealous of each other, whilst thinking we were the worst shaped Grin

It's good to hear all this, I'm up to here with stories of 'I've only gained 3lb at 30 weeks' or 'I don't show until 7 months' or people saying 'oh you're big'

I hear ya Newlyminted

If people could hear my thoughts instead of what I actually say it would make their hair curl. It involves a lot of profanity. Grin

Hi OP,

I'm 33 weeks and have just googled how soon I'm allowed to join Weight Watchers post birth to make msyelf feel a bit more in control! Doesn't help that I saw my SIL this weekend who has a 3 week old and has only 3lbs to lose before she's back at her pre-baby super-slim weight.

You started very slim so will be right as rain. I started about 2 stone over weight, will probably have put on about 2.5 st by the time the baby is born so have a mountain to climb! It'll all be worth it though and I cling to the fact that about 1 st pretty much drops out of you (literally!) at the birth Grin

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 20/08/2012 18:34

Jenner that's me too. I lied the other day to the hairdresser and took a month of my due date and still got a Shock look. Hopefully I won't get her again otherwise she'll think I'm a freak of nature with an 11 month pregnancy.

JennerOSity · 20/08/2012 21:08

AGiraffe - freak of nature... or worse... an elephantine gestation period - which sort fo defeats the object! Arf! Grin

fishface2 · 20/08/2012 21:47

I'm normally a size 14 a d cried in the changing too
of mamas and papas when I coundn't fit in to size 18 maternity clothes! I was miserable a d worried about weight gain but was drastically smaller just a day after giving birth and below pre wright six months later due to daily pleasant walks with babe. I really wished I hadn't bothered my arse about weight gain. Enjoy the pregnancy!

1stbabyat30 · 21/08/2012 10:37

I have struggled with my weight my entire life - never being fat fat but never being as slim as i wanted. I have been on every diet under the sun and I used to drink wine like an alcoholic fish. I can honestly say that after getting pregnant I have not worried at all - for the first time in my entire life - about my weight! It feels odd. I have so much time on my hands to worry about other things now. I love my bump and can't wait for it to get bigger and bigger. No one looks at you and thinks goodness she's fat. They think wow she's pregnant! How exciting - and if they are anything like the women I know they are genuinely envious of you too! Some days I can't eat anything but apple crumble or a brioche with nutella on - if I can hold it down I am happy. I also have halved my calorie intake my not drinking alcohol so I am doing well :-)

SammyB30 · 21/08/2012 10:51

Newlyminted that could've been me writing your post! Also second baby, am 15 weeks and put on 7 pounds already, was similar weight to you to start with. I put on nearly 5 stone last time and I did lose it in just over 6 months but definitely had to work at it (military fitness did the trick) I'm determined not to become such a whale/moose this time (both words used by others to describe me in my first pregnancy!!) and am much more active as I have a two year old. But maybe some of us are just pre-disposed to piling on the weight in pregnancy?? So can I return to the biscuit tin?! Grin

Katienana · 21/08/2012 11:45

I fell pregnant in January and was still carrying my Christmas weight and never got rid of it...it was horrible when my BMI came out as overweight as I'd never been in that category before. I'm hoping the weight will come off slowly post birth assuming I can eat sensibly but if not I will try and fit in 20 minutes to do the Shred DVD (I'm thinking after Christmas for this) a few times a week which should help. It's all gone on my boobs which were big to start with. I dread to think what size they are now, or what they'll be like when milk comes in! My brother is getting married next July so that's my incentive to get as close to my old self as I can.

DollFisher · 21/08/2012 11:46

Me too! I am 5'11 and have always been about 9 stone so when I weighed myself two weeks ago and found I was just over 10 stone I almost fell off the scales :(

Worryingly I'm told my bump doesnt actually look THAT big and I am 20 weeks and 3 days now...

MissPollysTrolleyed · 21/08/2012 12:00

I got on the scales this morning and have gained 2.5 stones and am only 34 weeks Sad. My bump is actually measuring small for dates so it's me that's getting all fat and not the baby.

Anyone know how much weight you lose immediately after the birth i.e. how much less I'll weigh if when I weigh myself the day after LO is born?

stowsettler · 21/08/2012 12:44

1 stone on and only 15 weeks. Spent first 9 weeks eating to avoid nausea, so that's got a lot to do with it. Although, not really gained in the last 5 or 6 weeks, even though my tummy seems to protrude quite a bit more.
Hate, hate, HATE being out of control of my body. I'm dying to go to the gym and get really, really sweaty but I suppose that's not a good idea.
I'll be back on the diet and exercise path as soon as is humanly possible.

Katienana · 21/08/2012 12:51

I looked it up, consensus seems to be around a stone straight away (I guess at least half of that will be baby and rest made up of placenta and fluid).

PedanticPanda · 21/08/2012 12:51

It's just more of you to love :o

MissPollysTrolleyed · 21/08/2012 13:01

Katie thanks for that. I was hoping for more but figured I was being optimistic.

NewlyMintedPeasant · 21/08/2012 13:09

Hate to say this but I weighed MORE after leaving hospital thanks to fluid retention and endless drips! THough this is unlikely for you. I did those loose about 2 stone in the next month or so.
