Keep hearing about bounty packs, what are they and where do you get them from.
I'm 38 wks pregnant so maybe left it too late.
Thankyou

I think you get offered them in the hospital when you deliver? I got one when I booked in and another when I had a scan.

booflebean · 18/08/2012 10:12

You get one after youve given birth.

Seriously though you dont really want one - they are just full of fliers and shit. I'm going to send the bounty lady packing this time - all they do is take your details, give you a handful of ads and then continue to bombard you with ads through the post/by email until your child leaves home. Not sure why anyone would sign up for it tbh!!

readyforno2 · 18/08/2012 10:17

Boofle hit the nail on the head..
The only useful thing is the wee sample size sudocreme (although it's halved in size from when I had ds1)

tara0202 · 18/08/2012 10:22

Yep boofle is correct. I do.find the tiny sudocreme helpful for changing bag though! I also did once find the single use fairy washing liquid when I ran out - so that was a bit useful.

At our hospital there is a bag full of them in the ante natal clinic waiting room.

BuntyCollocks · 18/08/2012 10:41

Agree with boofle. Absolute bag of shite. Don't feel like I've missed out this time!

booflebean · 18/08/2012 10:49

Oh and dont listen when they say "oh but you need the child benefit claim form thats in here" errrr yes but you can quite easily print it off the hmrc website.....

I find it very sad that a lot of people actually believe the bounty pack is the way you get the cb claim form...

Sammyjayne489 · 18/08/2012 11:56

Haha ok so I'm not missing out on much then!

Bag of shite and just an excuse to spam you to within an inch of your life via emails post and phone! Desist!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 18/08/2012 12:10

readyforno2 you can buy the dinky pots of sudocrem in boots :o

Shesparkles · 18/08/2012 12:17

My kids are 15 and 10 and I've still not had a Bounty pack. AIBU to sue?Grin

readyforno2 · 18/08/2012 12:18

Thanks fluffy.. Although I prefer metaniun anyway

Chunkychicken · 18/08/2012 12:27

I got one from my MW at my booking in. It had a good booklet about pg, and a leaflet about telling other children about your pg/the new baby. There are ones you're meant to get during labour (which I never did because I was only admitted full dilated & ready to go, as it were) and a post-natal pack, described as above.

It is full of fliers & other rubbish, but I'm always signing up to all the baby clubs & so on, on the off-chance they have useful vouchers. For example, free huggies nappy kit from Asda, free changing bag with Pampers nappies from boots, free soft toy & pg diary from cow & gate, free muslin from SMA, free soft toy from aptamil, money off vouchers from Pampers, money off at mothercare etc. I just make sure my privacy settings mean they don't sell my details on & will unsubscribe when they've outlived usefulness :)

rogersmellyonthetelly · 18/08/2012 13:13

You aren't missing much. 1001 bits of spam type paper vaguely related to babies. Heavy advertising for pointless expensive baby items on discount because no one would ever dream of paying full price.
Sudocrem pot is useful now I have emptied it and refilled with anusol cream for my piles, it's less embarrassing now if the kids rummage in my bag and pull out the cream asking what it's for.

WhenDoISleep · 18/08/2012 13:18

I have had two DC in the last 4 years and have never received any of the Bounty packs.

I quite happy about that as I really don't want any more junk mail plus there is no info given that you cannot find else where.

I really don't think you are missing anything in not having had it.

StormGlass · 18/08/2012 19:56

They're not that great.

And the free soft toy from cow and gate was kind of rubbish too. DH saw the advert for that, so signed me up (using my e-mail details) without my knowledge Angry And then he claimed it was okay because we were sent a tiny soft toy cow.

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 18/08/2012 19:57

Bounty are a terrible company who sell your details to aggressive marketers in exchange for a couple of tiny samples and a pack full of marketing rubbish!, steer well clear!

lyndie · 18/08/2012 20:07

I dislike that they are pushing branded baby products to get families using them when often supermarket own brand versions are just as good and much cheaper. I refused to see them after the lady whipped the curtain open round my hospital bed whilst half naked feeding DS!

Midgetm · 18/08/2012 20:33

Bounty are the source if all evil. I was really ill after having DD1 and the bounty woman was hovering like a vulture whilst I was having a blood transfusion. She got me when I was down and I gave her my details and now I get heaps of junk mail about DD. I bloody hate Bounty very relieved you can buy the little sudacream though as that was almost worth it

backwardpossom · 18/08/2012 21:15

You could just take the bag and give them false phone number/address etc. Wink

Chunkychicken · 18/08/2012 21:57

You can unsubscribe too!!! You can also junk the emails & refuse to receive post...

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 18/08/2012 22:00

Chunky not easily, as many mothers who lost their babies and don't want a load of junk mail about baby's party decorations through their door on their lost baby's birthday every year tells them repeatedly!

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 18/08/2012 22:01

and you don't always get the choice to un-tick the boxes either as sometimes they take your PRIVATE information form your medical notes without your consent!

horrible horrible horrible company!

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 18/08/2012 22:05

It's just not worth you get so little.

Chunkychicken · 18/08/2012 22:08

Well the last point you make is surely illegal??!! Therefore, regardless of the company, what they do etc, whether you agree with their process, that shouldn't happen. You have to sign a form giving consent, so if you don't you should/can take action against them. I signed up willingly & will happily unsubscribe when I've had enough, but I chose to. If they are subscribing people without permission, that is a whole different matter/thread surely??!!!

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 18/08/2012 22:14

how is it when it is something that reps of the company REGULARLY do?

They also get their business people into post natal wards outside of visiting hours, invading your privacy when your own mother isn't allowed in

They get free HOSPITAL GROUND parking where shift working staff comming and going alone at all hours either have to pay or don't get a space at all!!

and see how easy you find unsubscribing when you feel like it when they make it so hard for people whose babies have DIED to unsubscribe!!

these are not isolated issues!
