Increased need to pee/morning sickness... I don't have it!!!

I'm only 6 weeks pg so not sure what 'should' be happening and of course everyone is different. But I told the news to 2 close friends y'day and both expressed serious surprise that I wasn't peeing much more than usual (uterus growing?) and/or suffering from any sickness. I'd been quite relaxed about my relative lack of 'symptoms' up to that point but now I'm wondering if it's a bad thing? For the last week (since we found out) I've just had the absurd swollen breasts thing (enjoying that, despite the discomfort!) and no real sickness (yet...) and certainly no increased need to pee...

Anyone have similar experiences?

It's so weird when you're doing this for the first time and have no idea what's normal for you...Confused

I never had an increased need to wee. And my sickness hit me between 6 and 7 weeks. But not everyone is sick at all - lots of people just sail through with no symptoms about from getting a but fatter and then a baby appearing at the end of it Grin

emeraldgirl1 · 24/07/2012 07:47

Thanks Miranda!
My sister never had the sickness thing either. The increased need to pee (at this early stage) is a total surprise to me as I've never heard about this before. I thought it was a late-stage pg thing...

Early on, it can press down on your bladder, but then the bump grows and the pressure in the second trimester normally isn't as bad. Then in late pregnancy everything gets squeezed so you might get heartburn and/or increased weeing.

I was lucky: had no morning sickness at all and felt fine all the way through except for a slightly sore back at times and some heartburn after 34 weeks. So it's quite possible to have very few symptoms early on and for everything to be fine.

BedHog · 24/07/2012 07:59

You might have a retroverted uterus, which means it's tilted back so won't press on your bladder until later in the pregnancy. It's very common, I've got one, and it doesn't cause any problems.

shimmy0 · 24/07/2012 08:01

I'm eight weeks with my first baby and the only symptoms I have experienced are sore boobs, increased sense of smell and the odd slight cramp kind of feeling.
My mum said that she was always really sick during pregnancy so I think every woman is definitely different.
I think I wee a bit more than usual but not much.

shimmy0 · 24/07/2012 08:04

Oh and a bit of my tooth broke off and I've had the bleeding gums thing. This was all in week 5/ 6 I also had about 4 or 5 days of migraines now that I remember but I am prone to migraines anyway.

I've just remembered I've started to find I'm getting slightly constipated this past week.

EddieIzzardIsMine · 24/07/2012 08:04

I didnt get the increasing need to pee either at any point

And morning sickness kicked in at 9 weeks and didnt stop for another 25 weeks so it might be just a bit too early or you might not get any

Try not to worry

dreamingbohemian · 24/07/2012 08:08

I never had to pee more -- and I do have a tilted uterus, that's interesting BedHog!

I did however have morning sickness from 6 weeks until delivery, so I urge you to count your blessings on that score Smile

emeraldgirl1 · 24/07/2012 08:08

Thanks ladies!!
Oh dear EddieIzzard sorry to hear about the sickness, poor you :(
Yep shimmy I've had the occasional cramp too...
Boobs are RIDICULOUS atm... as a lifelong A cup I am suddenly spilling out of all my bras and I think approaching a C cup... Oh, well, at least DH is happy Wink

Bedhog thanks for the uterus info!!! Didn't know about that... interesting... :)

I am absolutely counting my blessings re the morning sickness!!! I had heard (I think) that it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy however so of course the paranoid part of me worries I 'should' have some...

I had absolutely no nausea or sickness at any point in my pregnancy. It's a good thing, honestly! The only real symptoms I had early on we're sore boobs and bloating/slight constipation for a couple of weeks. Congratulations!

glittershoes · 24/07/2012 10:02

I had no nausea at all and no increased need to wee at all and I am currently 37 weeks with a perfectly healthy boy (touching wood, crossing fingers etc..!) and still have no increased need to wee!

Everyone is different but it can be a bit disconcerting when you are symptomless; I felt a bit worried as well.

PeshwariNaan · 24/07/2012 14:40

Lots of people don't have nausea - count yourself lucky.

But you might not be out yet - it could hit next week or anytime!!

VickyU · 24/07/2012 15:03

My nausea started at 7 weeks. It felt like it literally came from nowhere! Since then my life has literally gone on hold as I literally can't do anything other than puke and sleep and have been diagnosed with hypermesis. So...basically what I am saying is....don't worry about it and enjoy not feeling sick whilst you can! When I found out I was pregnant I spent 3 weeks wishing I would feel sick and now I just can't believe I spent that time hoping I would feel like I do right now! What a waste!

newby2 · 24/07/2012 15:05

My first pregnancy I had no sore boobs, no sickness and no needing extra ewe's. Hardly felt tired and sailed through have a beautiful daughter. I'm currently 18 weeks with no.2 and have been sick as a dog, seeing all the time and absolutely pole-axed all the time! Don't worry as the baby grows, it'll find its own set of symptoms, you're only 6 weeks yet!

Splinters · 24/07/2012 16:15

I'm 9 weeks and have been drinking masses more than usual, but not weeing more at all. Where's it all going?! Also I was only sick once before 6 weeks, but have since been violently sick at least once practically every day for the last three weeks. Enjoy yourself!

Splinters · 24/07/2012 16:16

Oh, but has anyone else's sense of smell not changed at all? Taste yes (I now hate practically all food except tomatoey stuff and bland stodgy rubbish), but smell no..

JennerOSity · 24/07/2012 16:19

I wouldn't worry at all, I am pregnant with second and the symptoms I've had have been very different even though it is still my body being pregnant!

I agree, when you are pregnant with first it is like going into a maze with no map, so odd to be charting new territory, last time I felt so new at something I was probably in my teens or younger! :)

WaitingFor12 · 24/07/2012 19:18

Hi emeraldgirl1, I am experiencing the same! I will be 7 weeks on Thursday. So far I have had a bit of heartburn and nausea week 4/5 but it seems to have gone away for the past week or so (please let it stay away). My only symptom is sore boobs, I don't really feel pregnant at all a lot of the time. Not peeing more, i wouldn't say i am more tired either!

I am hoping it's a good sign and that I won't suddenly get sick (please let me not be tempting fate with this post!)

I also started taking a b6 vitamin when I started to feel ill so maybe that is helping? Thought it couldn't hurt to try it!

When is your EDD?

emeraldgirl1 · 24/07/2012 20:38

Waitingfor12 I guess my EDD would be mid-late March... you made me laugh with your comment, "I hope I don't tempt fate' because that is exactly what I say every time I think or talk about anything with regards to the future of the pregnancy!! It's so tough to get the balance of trying to enjoy everything that's happening but also not taking it for granted at the same time!!!

Clarella · 25/07/2012 06:44

Congratulations!!

I also have only just begun the emergency pee thing at 22 weeks (just in time for camping at a festival!) And my morning sickness only really got going around 7 weeks but was more food avoidance - initially just didn't fancy my morning porridge, nor honey and chocolate might as well have been cardboard, and didn't like the smell of my perfume. It was very gradual and I never really felt I had morning sickness till it began to go and I realised what id been unable to eat (which was a lot in the end) at around 16 weeks.

I also now get a 'i suddenly have to poo now' thing whether bunged up or not, again irritatingly in time for a festival :/

PollyIndia · 25/07/2012 09:36

Congrats! I too never had increased need to pee or morning sickness. I wasn't even noticeably more tired but I was in India for first 2 months so out of my normal routine.
The first physical sign I had was boobs growing at about 7 weeks. That promoted me to do a test and the rest is history!
As the others have said, everyone is different

LookAtHerGo · 25/07/2012 09:41

Please try not to worry.

With my first of I had hyperemesis, it started at 4 weeks, I was very very ill.

I'm currently pregnant (with twins this time) and I'm feeling so much better than last time, although I've nearly fainted a lot more, I'm still in single figures for my vomit count. So considering I'm carrying 2 whereas last time it was 1 you'd have thought it would have been the other way around.

Every pregnancy is different

louisianablue2000 · 25/07/2012 09:49

I'm pregnant with No3 and have never had morning sickness, my Mum (4 children) never had it either. People just say it's a sign of a healthy pregnancy to make those poor women who constantly ill feel a bit better, it's not true. The actual research says that people who have miscarriages see their morning sickness disappear around the time of the miscarrisge which is quite different from saying morning sickness is universally a good thing. Too much killed Charlotte Bronte.

Ameliac28 · 25/07/2012 11:22

I've just found out I'm 5 weeks and I don't feel the need to pee that much either I thought it was coz I have quite a big bladder lol sickness hasn't really kicked in yet either I'm just like you have really sore boobs, everyone is different Hun x
