she is hardly moving at all now :( when she does it's quite powerful but I'm worried she has run out of room and is all squished she hasn't moved like she used to for about 3 days ? Think I will wait for dp to come home and come with me

It's always best to get these things checked. Hopefully everything will be fine. Movements tend to slow towards the due date.

AlpinePony · 17/07/2012 11:41

Go now. If there is a problem, time is of the essence.

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 11:43

I'm 38 weeks ? She not really moving much and Ive been sitting down all morning poking her still not much ? Think she had hiccups earlier but felt v faint

I agree with AlpinePony. Please go now. My consultant drummed it into me that any change in movements must be checked asap. Hope all is ok.

AlpinePony · 17/07/2012 11:47

I am not a doctor, please call your midwife. None of us here can diagnose online whether she's in trouble or not. If she is in trouble, waiting for this evening may be too late.

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 17/07/2012 11:49

When is your DP due home? Could you home him and ask him to come now? I do agree with Alpine that hours make all the difference.

battyralphie · 17/07/2012 11:50

Go NOW!!

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 12:08

Ok I will give them a call now ! I've been rubbing my bump and she has started squirming but it's not like kicking it's more sort of squirming ?

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 12:11

Do I call delivery suite ? Or antenatal ?

OP posts:
Flisspaps · 17/07/2012 12:19

As you're 38 weeks, it won't matter, either one will tell you where you need to head to.

Tamisara · 17/07/2012 12:23

Cheekychops the delivery suite is where they usually check things out like this.

Please don't wait, just don't. Babies movements don't slow down. They change but a baby does not stop moving! Any difference, in what is usual for your baby, must be seen to, ASAP. It's probably a lazy day, but there is always the risk it may not be.

As has been said, leaving it could be too late.

I hope all is well x

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 17/07/2012 12:23

Go! Chances r everything is fine but these things should always be checked out and it's not wasting anyone's time or being too paranoid etc that is what they r there for and will be more than happy to reassure u! :)

Northernlurker · 17/07/2012 12:29

Sorry to shout but

MOVEMENTS DO NOT SLOW DOWN AS TERM APPROACHES. THAT IS A DANGEROUS MYTH. ANY CHANGE IN MOVEMENT SHOULD BE CHECKED.

Hoping you're on your way out of door and will be back in a few hours with tales of a happy, healthy and wriggly baby.

EmptyCrispPackets · 17/07/2012 12:36

OP I'm a midwife and would urge you as others have to get monitored.

Any change in the pattern of a babys movement should always be reported and looked at. Sometimes all it takes is a really cold drink and lying on one side but it's better to be checked.

Good luck

Tamisara · 17/07/2012 12:39

Northernlurker Thanks

I get really annoyed with that too. Two of my friends (one of whom was a midwife) reassured me that my baby had run out of room, when I mentioned to them, that I'd not felt her much... she died by the time I went in for monitoring. (I remember you wrote on my thread NL)

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 12:44

Thanks ladies I'm walking over now they said to come now and checked over ! I think she is running out of room I can hardly sit up straight and she app has long legs ? Will keep u posted x

[Small hijack] NorthernLurker and Tamisara It was me that said movements slow down close to due date. Didn't realise that wasn't true (my mw told me) happy to be corrected and very sorry for your loss Tamisara Thanks

Hope everything is well OP.

Northernlurker · 17/07/2012 15:47

I'm sorry I shouted - wasn't shouting at you, just at the phrase which is so often repeated and so dangerous. I saw it on a thread yesterday and again today and it's wrong. We lose a lot of babies in this country due to stillbirth. Far more than most people would ever believe and we've got to do something about that.

OP - hope the monitoring was reassuring. Kicks whilst waiting sounds good Smile
