Stay monitored if any more decellerations. DD3 had a couple, they decided to start me off and I promptly had eclamptic seizures with no obvious warning signs, also dd had a hypercoiled cord that was wrapped 3 times around her neck. being in hospital at the time saved both our lives.
I'm sure everything will be fine with you, but it's always better to err on the side of caution, if any more decells ask them to do a scan to see if cord is around neck or anything similar.

They've checked ! Sed she probably laid on her cord for a minute ? Been on monitor for an hour after that happened now they say all ok ?

Glad everything is ok but if your not happy don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion x :)

Flisspaps · 17/07/2012 16:45

If you're feeling something isn't right, tell them you want monitoring for longer.

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 17:37

All fine ! Am home now ! Midwife was so so nice said if you have anymore worries at all to come straight back in ! So nice to hear and to find someone so nice ! Here's to hopefully giving birth next time I'm there!

Oh dear - sounds like drama today. Glad little one seems ok!

FayKnights · 17/07/2012 19:07

Glad you are home Cheeky and all is well.

Whatevertheweather · 17/07/2012 19:17

Cheeky so glad all is well. If I were you I would be tempted to ask if you could go back in tomorrow for another trace to put your mind at rest that the decels were a one off.

Did they use the computer programme that monitors everything and then says when the baby has met all the criteria for you to come off the trace?

Just want to re-iterate Northern and Tami's very important message again:

It is a complete myth that babies movements slow down near term/approaching labour

ANY change in your babies pattern of movement: faster, slower, more, less, weaker or frantic should always be checked out as soon as possible. Not just on a hand held doppler but on ctg machine for a minimum of 20 minutes

McPhee · 17/07/2012 19:33

This happened to me, and it was the scariest moment of my life whist I waited for her HB to be found. My Dds movements had slowed down, and I wasn't happy at all. One call, and I was in being monitered. Glad to hear everything is ok.

Two week old Dd is now snoring next to me Smile

Cheekychops84 · 17/07/2012 20:06

She quiet again now but then I have jus been to do a cleaning job she prob sleeping! They jus used a monitor ? Dnt think it was a computer ?

Just want to repeat what others have said in case anyone else with the same question comes looking.

I went into the hospital twice to check for changes in movements. Despite the midwives in the ante-natal classes saying to do it, both times I was looked at like Hmm but they had a legal obligation to monitor me for 30 minutes (not in the UK, not sure what your rules are).

I just remember what another MNer said, I'd rather be the woman everyone tuts at for worrying rather than the woman everyone feels sorry for.

As it happens, the second time I went in I was really treated shortly by the midwife on duty (DH was Shock) but she had to monitor me. And discovered I was having contractions every 3 minutes, hence why I couldn't feel DS moving anymore (although he was).

I gave birth the next day. I always maintain that my instincts were right - something had changed. It was just a good change not a bad one IYSWIM.
