How often do you feel your baby move?

I'm currently 21 weeks and I feel her move everyday, usually first think and in the evening.

This morning I didn't feel her and I freaked out a bit. It also made me wonder, do you reach a stage where you feel your baby moving all the time, I.e., when they're bigger and have less wiggle room?

I made the foolish mistake of thinking there'd be less to worry about at this stage. There's always something, isn't there?!

Wow, I could have written your post myself! I am 21 weeks as well and had the same thing - less movement over the last couple of days. I'd also (naively) thought that I would worry less now I'm able to feel movements, but it seems like its just another thing to stress about!

Have you tried drinking an icy cold sweet drink (ie. v cold orange juice?). This is what they usually suggest to make the baby move.

I think from 28 weeks we're supposed to start counting kicks, so maybe they become much more regular by then? Perhaps Google "count the kicks" to see what they say about regularity of movement

Sastra · 20/06/2012 09:29

Thanks sweetpea it's nice to know I'm not the only nutter Grin. I've felt her move now, but I'm trying not to get into a state where I'm anxiously waiting for it every day Sad

Oh, and when are you due?!

I?m 21 and a half weeks and I feel movements daily- but there isn?t a routine. Sunday, I felt about 1 movement every hour. Monday, mine kicked furiously for an hour first thing and I just felt the sporadic movement for the rest of the day. Yesterday I felt very little in the morning and then lots of somersaults and kicks in the evening. Who knows what I?ll feel today.

I was panicking about this a couple of weeks ago, and then always felt stupid when I felt so many movements later. I think it?s too early for there to be a routine and as long as you are feeling movements regularly, don?t worry.

EDD 26/10/12, first baby

SweetPea3 · 20/06/2012 10:00

Wow, we're very very close! My first too - it's a girl! Do you know yet?

Londonmrss · 20/06/2012 10:08

I'm having a girl too. Any chance you ladies are London-based?

Sastra · 20/06/2012 10:19

Girl for me too! Have you thought of names?

And yes, am in London! Currently in Victoria Park but we're moving to Crystal Palace imminently!

So exciting to find people in the same situation!

Can I join in??? I'm due on 22nd Oct and its also my first baby.... and she's a girl! Have been having the same worries but she's a little bit all over the place. I feel her near enough everyday and sometimes more often than other. For example, on Monday she was very active all day, yesterday not so much until the evening where she had a good few stretches. I think because she's not very big at the moment her movements wont be very obvious but the bigger they get, the more you'll notice xx

Herrena · 20/06/2012 10:35

Well I don't fit in as I'm due in 5 weeks and this is my 2nd baby Wink but this one has some days where he doesn't move much at all (which freaks me out) and then he will spend the next day dancing a jig!

If you really get worried I'd recommend going along to your local delivery suite, not A&E, because when I went to A&E (scared about bleeding) they told me they didn't have a foetal heart monitor and wouldn't know how to use it anyway Confused however if you call up the delivery suite (get that number in your phone early!!) they will probably let you come in and be checked out.

Good luck to everybody :)

Notmyselfatall · 20/06/2012 11:31

Hey Smile can I join please ? I'm due the 22nd of October too Grin a little girl here too Grin dc3 xxx

Londonmrss · 20/06/2012 12:02

Good advice Herrena- I wasn't given the relevant number at first, but later demanded it!
Hey, we seem to have started a little 'Due around 22nd-26th October' group. Shall we maybe move to antenatal groups forum?

cakeandcava · 20/06/2012 12:37

Can I join? Due the 21st October -such coincidences! Or is there a mini babyboom due to some event in the beginning of Feb? Wink

I can feel him move daily, but it's not regular yet -I don't think you need to worry and count kicks until week 28 as SweetPea says. Apparently you can buy 'kick-counter' wristbands? I might look into those...

Sastra · 20/06/2012 12:42

That's a lovely idea - lets have a mini group :-)

Where in London are you Londonmrs?

Hi all - can I join in? I was Oct 24th but they re-dated me to Oct 16th based on size.

Little crabling (don't know sex) was very active yesterday - so much so it was making my work (web) hard my mouse hand was jerking! But on Sunday they were so quiet...I admit to being a little freaked out.

kristofferson · 20/06/2012 13:14

Mind if I join? Been lurking for a while but its such a coincidence spotting you guys I am biting the bullet and making my first post! I'm 21 weeks today (due 31st Oct) with my first baby and also a south Londoner.

I'm getting movement in the morning and evening but always very low down ? he or she must have found a comfortable spot and isn't shifting! Thinking about counting kicks soon, but maybe in a few weeks as I don't think the little bean is big enough for me to feel everything yet.

bettybat · 20/06/2012 13:17

Oh yes an me too - south Londoner Grin

Sastra · 20/06/2012 13:26

Gosh, all these babies due at the same time in south London!

Where are you S. London ladies having your babies? I'm moving down in 4 weeks from a different borough so am going to have to choose a hospital!

OP posts:
Babygirlpw · 20/06/2012 13:42

Hi ladies

I'm a south Londoner too. Due 3rd week of Oct with my first too. A baby girl.

Feeling lots of movements but not at the point of counting yet.

sammyleh · 20/06/2012 13:51

Oh I'm not a Londoner, I'm a Lincolnshire girl :) You ladies should start a group in the antenatal section, be nice for you all to stay in touch!

Londonmrss · 20/06/2012 13:57

I'm in Tower Hamlets. Will think about moving at some point, but not til 2013 I think! Technically I'm North of the river, but can I still be in the club?! My hospital is Whitechapel- they seem ok so far- not sure if I'll give birth there or not as there is also a small midwife-led centre near me too. Plenty of time to decide, I think!
Everyone had trouble-free pregnancies so far?
