Polarn O Pyret. Expensive but really lovely stuff, and there is a Mumsnet offer of 15% off this week.

Much cheaper: H&M. Hit and miss - some lovely stuff, some hideous, but very well priced. They do a good range of bright-coloured basics.

Have you tried some of the continental clothing ranges like the ones from smafolk? The Danish do it well.

I had some yellow, some orange and some green clothes that I used for my ds and then dd. I think they were from Adams though, which I think is now gone? I also resorted after a while to dyeing a lot of the white stuff I'd bought when I didn't know if I was expecting a boy or a girl as white was so boring!

GTbaby · 22/05/2012 23:21

I have been looking for the same Next have some colourful stuff. And saw some things in boots as well

Florin · 22/05/2012 23:31

Toby tiger have some lovely colourful things

pickletray · 22/05/2012 23:57

Lovely but expensive. Next is the only place that has them at vaguely affordable prices, but even so they are not cheap. Unfortunately it seems the cheaper the shop the less neutral things they sell. Primark is full of horrible pink tacky "little princess" type things.

My mum is knitting me some lovely colourful things right now, so at least I can put bright cardies over the plain white babygros.

White is one thing, but what's with the grey and beige baby clothes in the shops at the moment? Yuck! How dull!

greenbananas · 23/05/2012 06:41

Cheap white supermarket babygros and a couple of packets of Dylon dye?

Babies are so comfy in babygros, but it's hard to buy them in bright colours at an affordable price.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/05/2012 06:44

Baby Gap (if there is an outlet near you , even better!)

Ramekin · 23/05/2012 06:59

Organics for Kids has lovely stuff

MrsPaynie · 23/05/2012 07:11

I've bought lots of white sleep suits and vests and plan on dying them using dylon machine dyes, you can get some lovely bright colours

Smicha · 23/05/2012 07:33

I'm after the same thing! I think I've mentioned my dislike of white, grey and beige baby clothes enough that I won't be overwhelmed by them when the baby arrives :) I love Polarn O Pyret, but I'll probably only get one or two pieces from there as they are quite expensive.

M&S aren't too bad...
These Stripey Vests are pretty reasonable as are these colourful sleepsuits

My sister bought me some sleepsuits with monsters on from M&S that I'd put a boy or girl in, but I can't see them online. Oh and these socks are pretty cute too!

lagoonhaze · 23/05/2012 07:39

I posted a similar question when pregnant.

I got some lovely stuff from m&s. They may still have it as a friend just posted a pic of her brand new DS in same sleepsuit as DD had brought over 8mths ago- I know shes only recently brought stuff!

lagoonhaze · 23/05/2012 07:41

Sainsburys had some nice packs too.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/05/2012 07:43

I think I'm going to be buying a lot of plain white and dying it! I've been looking for bright clothes regardless of sex, there doesn't seem to be anything affordable. Sad

Smicha · 23/05/2012 07:47

Devora do you have the link to the PoP offer? I can't seem to see it and there's a lovely giraffe vest I fancy :o

Spiritedwolf · 23/05/2012 08:00

My mum gave me a three pack of Very Hungry Catepillar Vests, unfortunately I don't know where she got them from, but Amazon has some VHC stuff:

Amazon

lagoonhaze · 23/05/2012 08:29

Sainsburys and asda both do hungry caterpillar and it's much cheaper there than amazon.

Elkieb · 23/05/2012 08:34

Boots had the best stuff, some of the shops have the most dreary boring clothes! My sisters likes the dull stuff though Confused

emblosion · 23/05/2012 08:46

I have got some good, bright stuff from Asda and m&s (stripey rainbow vests and sleepsuits with monsters as someone else mentioned). I'm not a fan of the pastels either, and just don't get beige- how boring.

emblosion · 23/05/2012 08:47

I got hungry caterpiller stuff from Asda - v reasonably priced!

Bunbaker · 23/05/2012 08:52

It really isn't worth buying expensive baby clothes for a newborn as they are in them for such a short time. I was buying new babygros for DD every few weeks in the first few months.

Whatnamethistime · 23/05/2012 08:55

I get all my stuff second hand from
Netmums local

Spiritedwolf · 23/05/2012 09:04

Ah I thought the supermarkets might have done the Very Hungry Catepillar stuff, makes sense, I just linked to Amazon to show the kind of design.

Might pick up some more if they are at supermarket prices, I rather like the vests my mum picked out.

Bartiimaeus · 23/05/2012 09:28

Boots do lovely bright clothes as do M&S.

I went all white for the first 3 months as it was easier (the clothes are so tiny you need quite a lot to fill up a machine, I couldn't be doing with sorting by colour).

After that though I went nice and colourful.
