It's a b*tch. Discuss.

Am so Angry as it's getting worse daily. I have it normally but much worse during third trimester now.

Agreed.

I'm so fucking tired. Why can't I sleep? For me, the insomnia kicked in as soon as I knew I was pregnant. Had a brief reprieve from it from about 16 - 28 weeks and then it came back with a vengeance. I've never had it before. The ability to sleep any time, any place has always been my special talent.

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 04:02

It's all so bleurgh isn't it? I'm shattered and headachy but just can't drift off and if I do, I wake up 30 mins later unless I happen to be able to sleep post four / five am.

My only saving grace is i've quit work so nap for an hour in the day.

Envy those getting their zzzzzs right now!

Hello, not preg but struggling to sleep so thought I'd say hi!

terrywoganstrousers · 20/05/2012 04:05

11 weeks here and up again- as soon as I get up for a wee I can't get back off again! So frustrating!

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 04:11

Join the party giraffe the more the merrier no pg necessary! Pre pg I used to find Paul mckenna's cd q good to help drift off ('i can make you sleep')... But these days nothing works Sad

Terry - here's hoping you get some sleep in the 'golden' trimester instead!

I'm still working, unfortunately. Don't know what possessed me to say I'd work up to 38 weeks? I can only assume that I agreed to that during those few blissful weeks where I was actually sleeping properly.

What's keeping you up, Giraffes?

giraffesCantGoPotholing · 20/05/2012 04:19

Ooh thanks - I can shove a pillow up my top if that helps me fit in to the gang on here for tonight?! Mind you I ate rather a lot of pizza for dinner so not sure that is even nexessary.

Had a car accident on Thur evening and not slept properly since. I am physically fine but my nerves are shot. And I live near a main road and keep hearing screeching breaks/horns - usually I don't notice them but since Thursday I jump in bed.

giraffesCantGoPotholing · 20/05/2012 04:20

terry you just need to sleep on the bog then! Grin

RubberBandit · 20/05/2012 04:32

Oh no wonder you can't sleep, giraffes. I can imagine that would play on your mind terribly afterwards :(

Bloody birds have started tweeting now. The bastards.

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 04:33

Sorryto hear that giraffes, afraid I don't have any helpful tips on how to cope with sth like that. Although, as an aside, I had pizza for dinner too.

Might try and sleep again... Usually as it gets to five am I can drift off...

giraffesCantGoPotholing · 20/05/2012 04:36

I am tempted to get up and start the day but doubt lady in flat below would appreciate that!

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 04:44

Grin depends if it involves karaoke or stomping around in workmen's boots!

5am is about the time that I can normally doze off again too. Shame I have to be up at 6.15am on weekdays though so usually just getting into a nice sleep when the alarm goes off.

Dog is snoring now which is at least going some way to drowning out the birds.

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 04:52

That sucks rubber ( waking up so early after unsleepable nights).

Imagining trying out those snoring nosecstrips on dog....

It's getting light, joy.

I am too hot and have window open now. I can hear birds too - amazes me how loud birds are despite being parallell to a main road!

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 05:02

I heard birds and they stopped, mauve they got back to sleep lucky f*ckers.

No sleep yet, got distracted by eBay Hmm

This is why I'm awake too! I'm at 35 weeks now, had insomnia throughout 1st trimester and here it is back again, I've had a nice lemon and hot water and a paracetamol to try and get rid of the headache and I'll probably drop off in time for my boyfriends alarm to go off!

( feeling a little guilty about the poster we've just both replied too, considering her TTC worries :( )

Hyperballad · 20/05/2012 05:12

Btw, birds don't actually sleep around here! They tweet all night but I don't actually mind them. It also makes me chuckle when the first thing my fella says on a morning is "fucking birds!". He is most disgusted
with them Grin

Hyperballad · 20/05/2012 05:35

.... And now I'm bastard hungry!

DueinSeptember · 20/05/2012 06:21

Yes me too (nearly 22 weeks). I fell asleep on the sofa at about 12am and then my DH woke me to go to bed at 2am. Since then I've been awake and now can't be bothered to try any more so I'm going to just stay up. Same thing happened last night. Some nights I go off fine and others I really struggle, seems worse if I fall asleep downstairs first, but it's so hard to resist. I am generally an insomniac anyway, and go through phases but this seems worse. Was the same with my 1st pregnancy too.

applecrumple · 20/05/2012 09:14

Same here ladies, takes me a while to drift off then I wake up about half way through the night to pee (sometimes have to have a snack too as belly is growling), then can't get back to sleep. Birds start sing at 4.30, I can usually drift off around 5 & then I have to get up at 6! Yay! Oh & lying on my side brings on this (sometimes) horrendous hip pain that just burns all the way down my leg, even when I turn over. Btw, I'm 20 weeks

applecrumple · 20/05/2012 09:15

What really pisses me off is that I am actually tired, just can't sleep!

EggsMichelle · 20/05/2012 09:35

I was sleeping fine until my common scum neighbours started drunkenly screaming at each other at 3 in the morning, then screaming at their dog who had escaped...teach your dog to sit and wait, it's not hard. I hate them!

RubberBandit · 20/05/2012 10:17

Apple, eoy the phase of only needing to get up once to pee...I seem to have reached the stage (35+5) where I need to go 4-5 times during the night. And with SPD, getting out of bed is an ordeal in itself!

I'm gradually coming to the conclusion that pregnancy is just one long endurance test...

applecrumple · 20/05/2012 10:24

Yeah, A bit like the Krypton factor - remember that 90s show?!
