where do I get one of these from please? I had a normal one; ie black writing on yellow background (free from Volvo) which I hoped was in the loft but I can't find it.iv looked on amazon but i don't like those silly pink ones with little writing which arent very clear to other
drivers.thanks in advance x

Sorry OP. I don't know of anyone that would give a fig about a sign like that .

Msfickle · 21/04/2012 06:02

Blimey ladies. Why not just have a sign that says "warning! Lady driver. May unintentionally swerve all over the road due to baby brain/putting on lippy, playing with my phone"

Try baby centre. They are likely to be much more sympathetic

AlpinePony · 21/04/2012 06:13

I've just sellotaped my "Kids in creche, am driving like a cunt" poster to the back windscreen.

AlpinePony · 21/04/2012 06:14

Tbh, the cars I try not to hit (n.b., I've never hit another car!) - are ones with diplomatic plates or really, really, really expensive ones because you just know the insurance is going to be a mare and if you hit a diplomat you're "guilty" anyway.

Zara1984 · 21/04/2012 06:39

Sorry OP, but if I saw a car with a Mum To Be sticker on the backthat, I would piss myself laughing so heartily I would probably be more of a road hazard! As for DH, he would probably try to take a picture of the sign with his phone to show me, hence causing more danger! Grin

In all seriousness though, rubbish drivers will not be more considerate because of a tiny twee triangle stuck to your back window. Hmm

I say all this also being pregnant and being very proud of my fat little bump!

Appears OP will sniffly no longer check this thread, but if there is anyone out there who really does want to buy one surely eBay is your best bet?

Alpine your strategy is very wise!! Smile

Mum to be and baby on board signs definitely only have one place they should be and that's Room 101 Agree that I don't think they have any effect on how people respond to you on the roads. With our DC we were more concerned with aiming to choose the safest possible car for our budget

CommanderShepard · 21/04/2012 10:11

Generally I find that those signs are code for 'I drive like a complete bellend so get out of my way for your own safety'. I must just not like my bump that much...

lurcherlover · 21/04/2012 14:56

Just to be clear: the emergency services are trained to check the backs of all cars involved in accidents for children (and adults, indeed) regardless of whether or not there is a sticker in the window. No need for them at all.

QIelf · 21/04/2012 15:02

I don't need one of those signs on my back window as anyone driving behind me will see me doing a 180 to shriek like a banshee at the kids in the back seat.

It's the cars in front of me that should worry.

Cremeeggsandkitkatsoldiers · 22/04/2012 10:30

"Agree that I don't think they have any effect on how people respond to you on the roads. "
oh I wouldn't say NO effect because they make other drivers like you less!

picnicbasketcase · 22/04/2012 10:34

Grin at AlpinePony and CommanderShepard. Sorry OP, I too think they kind of smack of 'Everyone check out how goddamn fertile I am, bow down before me: The Goddess of Fruitfulness'

Bunbaker · 22/04/2012 11:31

I think it is a bad idea to advertise that someone in the car in front is a) a woman and b) probably a bit more vulnerable. That is why I don't get why women get personalised number plates with their name on.

Msfickle · 23/04/2012 12:52

Bunbaker - why on earth is a woman more vulnerable when driving a car?

wonkylegs · 23/04/2012 12:56

bunbaker ??

TheSkiingGardener · 23/04/2012 13:05

bunbaker wtaf? Do you seriously feel that as a woman you need that sort of protection.

Blimey. That's a new perspective to me....

Pootles2010 · 23/04/2012 13:08

How bizarre bunbaker. Doesn't your car have, erm, windows?

Cremeeggsandkitkatsoldiers · 23/04/2012 13:09

do you have blacked out windows then bunbaker? or do you sell those fake man passengers you can get in the US?

Bunbaker · 23/04/2012 13:10

I think you misunderstand me. Women aren't more vulnerable as drivers, but as people generally they are more vulnerable than men. And I would have thought a heavily pregnant woman would be even more so, especially if she had to run away from someone.

I guess I must watch too many crime dramas where a man has followed a woman home to commit a crime.

Pootles2010 · 23/04/2012 13:12

I think you may need to cut down on the crime dramas, yes! Grin also, why would you run if you had a car?

PickleSarnie · 23/04/2012 15:42

Do you think he would park my car for me too?! Fake Man

Cremeeggsandkitkatsoldiers · 23/04/2012 15:46

ha ha ha ha love the review: he's a shit passenger but a great conversation piece!

Msfickle · 23/04/2012 21:46

Lol. Can't remember the last time I was chased down by a random nutter in the street but could happen I suppose.

Still I reckon the fact that I can still run a decent 10k at 27 weeks pregnant means I might stand a chance of outrunning him. But then I am a vulnerable woman so maybe not...
