What's the third trimester like?

Just wondering if anyone has found the tiredness comes back or they feel uncomfortable as the bump grows? I'm just entering it I think (28+3) and apart from a pretty painful knot/muscle spasm thing in my back which isn't great am still feeling fairly energetic, compared to the days when I would be asleep by 8.30 every night!

Have got 6 weeks of work left which I know is fairly early to stop, but that's because am working on a project whose deadine is then and it's going to be a really intense period to get there, late nights, weekend work etc. Am dreading these next weeks a bit and just hoping I dont get first trimester symptoms back again, just wondering how anyone else found/is finding those last weeks at work?

Hi Smile

I'm 28 weeks today and really starting to feel the tiredness coming back. What doesn't help I suppose is not feeling very comfortable at night, and waking all the time for a wee. Oh and then getting there and it being nothing Blush

I wish I was finishing work at the end of this month instead of next month tbh.

PregnantCappuccinoDrinker · 13/04/2012 08:35

We're finishing at the same then. When are you due? I know what you mean about the sleep too, was awake for hours last night either with hip pain, full bladder or worrying about work!

Got to go now but will be back later

My due date is 6th July Smile

Is this your first baby? Are you crapping yourself as much as me Grin

mrswee · 13/04/2012 13:00

I would say the word that sums it up the most is 'uncomfortable'!

RockChick1984 · 13/04/2012 13:18

Hi, when I was having my ds I was shattered throughout the third trimester, and quite a few aches and pains as well! Just wanted to say, if you are struggling too much at work, don't forget that you are the priority, you don't want to make yourself ill (which may result in you being signed off work sick anyway!) so if late nights etc start getting to be too much for you, do speak to your manager!

Florin · 13/04/2012 13:20

I am 30 weeks and uncomfortable is definitely how I feel and know its only going to get worse for next 10 weeks. Not sleeping great so feel tired, I can only walk slowly and every little thing is becoming more difficult especially picking up anything off the floor. I get tired easily so for example tomorrow we are out all morning at NCT class and then out in the evening so got to leave the afternoon free to have a rest and a nap so I make it to the evening, even though we will be leaving that at 10. I am lucky as my job is a nice easy 20 minute drive away and quite easy sitting down job-still feel tired in the evenings though! Starting to panic about all the things we need to get done before he arrives too which isn't helping with the sleeping. Dh having the same worries too and either has trouble sleeping or nightmares. This was a very much planned clomid baby but still panicking over everything!

CRAP

Cant sleep, cant get comfy, cant eat too much, then im hungry, craving pure orange juice but it gives me heartbearn, remember the constipation from the early days - well its come back for a visit, cant stop moaning too Smile

31 weeks and i just cant bear the thought of getting through the next couple of months getting gradually worse. and if 1 more person tells me i look well.... i may have to kill and eat them!

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 13/04/2012 13:40

I'm 32+3 and after a fairly hassle-free time of it so far, things like heartburn, leg-cramps and CONSTANT trips to the loo - day and night - are kicking in! I'm still doing yoga and can still touch my toes, but I'm definitely feeling more whale-like, I'm rolling out of bed, and once I'm on the sofa it is a bit of an effort getting up again! Walking is a lot slower - I've added 15 mins onto my commute! The fatigue of the first trimester is definitely back, I'm doing well if I'm still awake at 9.30pm! Grin

vix, everyone keeps telling me I look 'really well' too - I think I just look tired and fat!

NameOfTheNick · 13/04/2012 13:42

Hi,

im just over 36 weeks and up until last week or so I felt great.

Now I feel knackered just walking upstairs every 10 mins for a pee! not sleeping all that well up every 2 hours for.... a pee!.
I've also noticed that I cant do as much walking as before, as I am in a bit of pain in my hips.

as mrswee says "uncomfortable" sums it up perfectly!

ballroompink · 13/04/2012 14:12

I'm 35 weeks now and have generally been feeling fine as long as I don't do too much or have a late night (otherwise the tiredness really does come back). The major change has been feeling more uncomfortable - backache, needing the loo more, getting out of breath more easily, not being able to bend in the middle etc. But overall it hasn't been awful.

Sandalwood · 13/04/2012 15:58

If I drop something (which I seem to be doing a lot) I think "Oh god, do I really have to get down there and pick that up now"?

WannaSplitAPinapple · 13/04/2012 16:14

oh i'm glad you've said this i'm 28 weeks and the tiredness has hit me with a vengance this week. I'm getting puffed just walking up the stairs and i feel as elegant as an elephant!
Glad to hear it will only get better as time goes on Grin oh well only 7 weeks left in work and thats about 6 and a half too many

PrincessWatermelon · 13/04/2012 16:19

Sandalwood - I dropped a piece of paper yesterday whilst handing it to an old lady. We both looked at it on the floor and she said "I'll get it dear, it'll probably be easier for me". And I was very grateful! Only 29 wks too!

McPhee · 13/04/2012 16:21

Is anyone else struggling to wipe their arse without putting your back out Blush

Flisspaps · 13/04/2012 16:26

It's knackering, uncomfortable and LONG (40+9 and counting)

SarryB · 13/04/2012 17:19

It sucks.
I'm constantly tired, hungry and I pee about a bazillion times a day.
And it's loooooooooooooong and boring.

(37+5 weeks)

StarlightMcEggsie · 13/04/2012 17:53

It's always the best trimester for me. My heartburn can finally be controlled by omesprozole and rennies and I finally stop choking on my stomach acid. Vomitting reduces to once a week and I can finally eat at least one small meal per day.

People let you be a bit lazier and you can get seats a bit more often.

BeattieBow · 13/04/2012 18:05

I'm 36 weeks now and felt fine until the last week or so. i was sick until 29 weeks though.

now I just feel huge, it hurts to walk long distances, I need to pee all the time, sleeping is difficult, heartburn happens at any time (even during the day), and I have pains in my bump. oh and the braxton hicks have taken my breath away this time. Oh and I can't eat much as it makes me feel too full and I can't bend down, and I can't fit in the shower very well.

But on the other hand, you know it's near the end so it's bearable (ish).

ellesabe · 13/04/2012 19:09

Someone once told me that the three trimesters can be summed up quite simply as 'dreary, cheery and weary'. So true :)

PregnantCappuccinoDrinker · 13/04/2012 19:39

McPhee mine was the same then it got changed to the 4th July! Independence day.

Sorry to hear it is shite for so many people.

Haven't heard that expression ellesabe but it sounds accurate to me so far! Really hope I stay in the cheery phase a bit longer. Despite the back pain I feel like I can cope as long as I don't have that almost chemical tiredness that I did in the early weeks when I just couldn't stay awake through an evening. Mind you I say that but in the second tri I did have food poisoning and had to have an operation under spinal anaesthetic so it wasn't exactly all plain sailing!!

PregnantCappuccinoDrinker · 13/04/2012 19:42

Oh and yes meant to say it is my first McPhee and yes and crapping myself would sum it up! We tried to do our first proper baby shopping for big things session last weekend (ie looking at prams, cots etc) and both ended up cross eyed with confusion. We didn't buy anything on the list except a baby bath and more clothes and repaired to the pub at lunchtime!

DizzyKipper · 13/04/2012 20:00

Most of my symptoms have been pretty consistent since the first trimester, I'll be 30w on Sunday. Tiredness is still as it was - not enough to stop me doing stuff but enough to keep me yawning and sometimes wishing I could go to bed. Still wake 2-4 times a night. Still constipated. I've had pelvic pain since second trimester, along with calf muscles and feet occasionally seizing up on me and back pain. Pain is possibly getting worse. I am finding it a little more difficult these days to get myself upright again after squatting and seem to have to hold onto furniture to help myself stand. That's probably the main change so far this trimester. It's also quite unpleasant if I lean in on myself/the bump.

openerofjars · 17/04/2012 21:18

Bag of shite.

That is all.

I am going to make like a Blue Peter tortoise and hibernate in a cardboard box full of newspaper for the next 6 weeks if tomorrow is anything like today was.

heartmoonshadow · 17/04/2012 22:08

I second all the comments third trimester bloody awful. Back ache when standing, sitting, lying, squatting basically doing anything! The world and his uncle touching bump and not just medical professionals add that to 'it wont be long now?' 'are you sure there is only one?' 'have you had it yet?' 'do you know what it is?' and all the other inane comments from everyone and unsolicted advice for labour etc. I am 37+5 and just cannot wait to be over it and never have to do it again I have booked DH in for a vasectomy already!

HerrenatheHHHarridan · 17/04/2012 22:19

pregnantcappucinodrinker - I have one word for you regarding the purchase of baby equipment: eBay!

You can get really nice cots etc from people who have barely used them (think doting, rich grandparents who were only visited a few times while their GCs were little enough to use the cots). Get a new mattress from babymattresses online and you're laughing. It is amazing how much money can be saved this way.

Sorry for the hijack, back to the topic of the thread.... 3rd trimester is uncomfortable because you're enormous and the spectre of labour looms large. I'm being blunt but that's the truth of it I'm afraid!

By the way, I had terrible heartburn all the way through my 1st pregnancy and finally got prescribed Zantac at 28 weeks. It was HEAVEN. I could eat fruit again!! This time around I went to the doctor and demanded it at the first sign of heartburn. Bliss Grin
