Just what it says really.

My mum was absolutely sure I was a boy, and then I wasn't (obviously).

OTOH I am pretty sure this is a girl. Only 12 weeks so can't be sure either way even with a scan, but that's my strong feeling.

What about you? Did you "know" and then have your feeling confirmed? Or the opposite?

I knew I was having a little boy from the time I did the pregnancy test and I was right had gender scan at 18 weeks and given 100% assurance he is definitely a boy (along with a details picture of his huge willy and balls-dh very proud!)

clam · 14/03/2012 20:02

I didn't "know" but I assumed dd (my second baby) was also going to be a boy, as boys run in dh's family - out of the preceding 22 babies born on his side, 19 of them were boys. I got the shock of my life when dd popped out! We had no names ready, and I called her 'him' or, worse, 'it' for a day or two! Was absolutely thrilled to have a girl, of course, and I hadn't realised quite how much dh wanted one either, until I caught sight of the gooey look of adoration on his face as he cuddled her in the ward.

ProcrastinateWildly · 14/03/2012 20:06

I felt like I realised he was a boy when I felt him moving for the first time, before that I had always assumed for some reason that my first child would be a girl.

lambethlil · 14/03/2012 20:09

I did. I was wrong. Three times! Grin

Doodlegoogle · 14/03/2012 20:42

Convinced she was a boy until the scan a couple of weeks ago. I'd been thinking of boys names, worried about whether he'd get a motorbike when he was 18 (though she still could of course) and although knew that obviously there was a 50:50 chance, I couldn't have been more surprised if they'd said it was baby dinosaur in there. No idea why.

farmerswifey · 14/03/2012 20:53

Was convinced right from the very start that little one was a girl, - confirmed (as much as girls can be) earlier today at the 20 week scan :)

MillyStar · 14/03/2012 20:56

I knew i was having a girl before i had my 20 week scan!

I dunno why i just knew, that's why i had it confirmed becuase i was so convinced i'd have needed to get my head round having a boy if i was wrong!

I've had a 4D scan aswell and she even looks like a girl she's so cute, 4 weeks till i get to cuddle her ;-)

WhenDoISleep · 14/03/2012 20:57

I 'knew' DS1 was a boy from very early in the pg. Currently 34w with DS2 - whom I was convinced was going to be a girl.

COCKadoodledooo · 14/03/2012 21:10

With ds1 I was. The first I saw of him after delivery was his tackle as the mw swung him round and asked if I knew what I was having!

With ds2, up until the 20 week scan I was convinced he was a girl, because my pregnancy had been so different. I think my first words to dh when he was born were "it didn't drop off!" in reference to what the sonographer had said Grin

MissCoffeeNWine · 14/03/2012 21:16

I am pretty sure I know what this one is. I knew what my first was. But I had no feeling with DD, and no feeling with DS, and we ended up waiting months after we lost him to find out his sex by post mortem!

This one I'm pretty sure is a DD2. Should be able to find out in a few weeks, if we're lucky.

BellaCB · 14/03/2012 21:17

DP and I were both certain we were having a girl, even though I had always only imagined having boys - but the moment we knew I was pregnant we started thinking it was a girl. And we were right! (And now DD is here, I can't imagine not having a daughter Smile)

peeriebear · 14/03/2012 21:21

With Dd1 I had no inkling. My mw friend came with me to the 20wk scan and intimated that I might be having a boy. Wrong!
DD2, I felt all the way through that she was a girl but didn't breathe a word because I'd feel a right numpty if she wasn't.
With this one (15wks pg) I feel 99% certain it's a boy. Everything about it feels different, I think differently about it. Every time I picture the baby it's a he.
I'm not breathing a word in RL! And if I'm wrong in September this thread will have long gone :o

cookiesnap · 14/03/2012 21:30

I knew I was having a boy... Had a girl.

As a friend said you have a 50-50 chance that your certainty is based on fact.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 15/03/2012 08:35

DH was completely convinced that DD was a girl and DS a boy. He was right both times.

flagnogbagnog · 15/03/2012 08:46

Im expecting my fourth, I have just found out we are having a boy. I think I've been wrong with my 'inklings' everytime!

milk · 15/03/2012 09:13

I thought DS was a boy, and I was right :D

For DC2 I really wanted another boy, but now at 11 weeks I think its a girl :(

FaneFeyre · 15/03/2012 09:23

I knew it was a girl. Just knew! The life inside me was a female one, no question.
I was right! Was hard not to be smug about special powers of extinctionm when she was born :)

FaneFeyre · 15/03/2012 09:23

FaneFeyre · 15/03/2012 09:24

Ha, oops, thought I'd managed to catch that before posting...I do not have special powers of extinction obviously

RealLifeIsForWimps · 15/03/2012 12:49

I reckon I'm having a girl. I cant let you know if I'm right till August though.

spannermary · 15/03/2012 12:52

I just knew it was a girl...until he flashed me at the 20 week scan!

spannermary · 15/03/2012 12:53

My friend, however...knew it was a boy. Oh she was so smug! :)

thefurryone · 15/03/2012 13:09

Superene Smartiesrules so glad it's not just me, my first words when told DS was a boy were 'I knew it' Grin although I do have a track record in regards to being a bit smug when I'm right Blush

This time round I'm not so sure, but I think that's because I like the idea of two boys, but really don't want to be disappointed if it's a girl.

WinkyWinkola · 15/03/2012 13:11

I know when I'm having boys. I feel utterly sick and grey with fatigue from week 6 to week 14. Dc4 is definitely a boy.

With my dd, pgy was a breeze.

curiousgeorgie · 15/03/2012 15:42

I felt sure it was a girl. I was only 4 weeks when I found out I was pregnant and that very day bought a pink rabbit and some girly baby grows.

Went for a gender scan at 15 weeks and confirmed girl...

(And she's asleep in the other room... she is a girl haha)

I really believe in intuition.

A few weeks ago I was pregnant, and at 5 weeks my DH took me to mamas and papas and said to but something to 'get excited' and I just wouldn't. When I was pregnant with DD he brought home a rocking elephant the day I got my BFP and called me from work to say he'd seen a rocking dog and he was going to buy it and I said no. A week later I miscarried.

I think women always know.
