my pip (too early to be bump) has decided that, in addition to the sickness and tiredness, he shall bless me with boobs the size of Jordans. I'm currently a 40F and still going. does anyone know of good bras or makes in this size? i also need a bra to sleep in, so no wire would be preferable.

Hi qazxc. Congratulations on your "pip"!

I am nearly 17 weeks, and usually a 32H. Am a 34HH at the minute. I feel your pain!
I use one of these when not pregnant. They come up small in the band though,so you may need to size up to a 42.
And I am planning on getting one or two of www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/soft-cup-bras/#/1?show=16&sort=1 these in the future-I have some Prima Donna bras from before lost baby weight from last pregnancy that are doing ok for the minute!
Look up the reviews to give you a better idea of what may suit you. Or maybe you have a Bravissimo near you?

Sorry, second link should be these!

I have some Hot Milk bras, think they go up to about a H cup. I find them really comfy. I got mine from brastop as they have some reduced, or they have some on figleaves.

aliphil · 06/03/2012 15:38

I got some Royce ones which are really comfortable and I thought not too expensive (but being a 36HH normally I am used to paying quite a lot for bras!).

Hi I was a 32g and have gone up to a 36k. I tried 'hot milk' in the early weeks before I grew and found they came up too small and while they are absolutely beautiful bras they were very unsupportive. I then had a Triumph Doreen m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/Shopping/Product.aspx?Type=LNE&Id=14334&source=63258 which I'll be honest is ugly as hell but it damn well holds the girls in place and at 27 weeks I don't have too much sagging or stretch marks despite their size. I've just bought a couple of new bras from Royce - the Charlotte and Jasmine nursing type. They fit very well and are much prettier than Doreen!! I hate bra shopping at the best of times, but maternity bra buying has reduced me to tears, I can believe how few high street suppliers there are, having to buy online and return those that don't fit is so upsetting! My advice would be a) come to terms with the fact that a bra in your size is unlikely to be an attractive one and b) console yourself that fit and support are more important than how it looks :) good luck!!!

As long as they're properly fitted then you can wear normal wired bras as usual.

A sports bra is probably fine for night if you want to wear something then.

No need to go and buy maternity bras (which are basically unwired bras as far as I can tell) now. You can go and get some nursing bras at the end of pregnancy if you want to breastfeed (as your cup size will change again once baby has been born, if not a couple of times before then, so no point buying them now)

Do Mothercare do nursing bras in your size (they do in mine, 38E)

aliphil · 06/03/2012 19:18

The midwife told me not to wear wired bras while pregnant, and that I would probably be OK with one size of unwired after the first trimester so long as I got a size I could fasten on the tightest hooks to allow for my ribcage expanding later.

I would love to be able to find something really soft I could wear at night, but no one seems to make them in 40J!

idlevice · 07/03/2012 09:15

Try bras4mums.co.uk - they have great email & phone advice, I am always reccing them on here. The Bravado custom original nursing bra is a soft bra which is great for sleeping & when milk comes in, not that supportive but super comfy. It covers 40J, & more!

Franchini · 07/03/2012 09:25

Agree with Royce bras. I was 40 HH when preggers. Wore Carrywell comfort bra XL from amazon in bed. x

Flisspaps · 07/03/2012 09:38

aliphil if you wear a properly fitting wired bra that isn't pressing on the breast tissue (a decently fitted bra shouldn't anyway) then they're fine Smile

Rusulka · 07/03/2012 09:51

Hi, my SiL is bra-trained (John Lewis) and she says a wired bra is fine as long as the wires at the side aren't cutting into your breast tissue- they should be back near your armpit.

Ladies, I feel your pain. I was a 36HH before I got pg, and now the bras are too small, gulp! I think I must be a J or K already, which frankly doesn't leave me much in the way of options for nursing bras, when my boobs will apparently explode. Yay.

I intend to wear my normal bras in a better fitting size until I need nursing bras. Then I shall panic! Lol.

aliphil · 09/03/2012 11:09

Oh well, I've got the unwired ones now and they are more comfortable! It was the wires underneath rather than at the sides that were a problem. Who knows, I may never go back to wired bras ... after all, these ones can go in the washing machine!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 09/03/2012 14:29

Carriwell bras are amazing. Super soft and very comfortable. They do nursing ones and maternity ones. I got mine from www.babiesrus.co.UK but boots online do them as do a range of places.

They cover a range of sizes because of the stretch woven material. Honestly I loved mine from my last pregnancy and still wear it now!

TheFirstMrsGClooney · 09/03/2012 16:15

Don't buy from Mothercare or M&S cos they are both rubbish for the larger boobed among us. I second Royce and Bravissimo. Just got fitted for 36J... A size I did not know existed...
