Thanks Angelico xxxx

Another one here craving salty things. I have just eaten lots of salty cheese and crackers. Next is a lovely piece of treacle tart I've just made with cream.

I'm going to be the size of a house :(

Loving the names you are all mentioning. I have been thinking up baby names for years and years but now it has come to it, nothing seems quite right.

missbone I did another test too. It was very reassuring to see a quick positive.

squidkid · 26/02/2012 19:44

bella missbone yeah it's great having a midwife friend! Makes up for all the questions I get about anything medical, ha ha. Of course, if my friends have anything wrong with their health I am far from delighted about it though!

I sometimes worry a bit that I might sadden people with my news - my brother & his wife are trying for her second right now (going to tell them next weekend when I see them) but that should be ok they've only been trying a few months. Perhaps she will also be pregnant!!!!! Another friend is trying for her second, I am a bit more worried about telling her because she took 2.5 years to get pregnant the first time (though there was nothing wrong, she had all the investigations). BUT she does have a lovely one year old so it should be ok, I hope.

I mostly crave: yoghurt. fruit juice. fruit. vegetables. bread. marmite. eggs. Breakfast, basically. I eat breakfast for every meal now.

I eat so much marmite right now spread so thickly I probably don't even need to take my folic acid.

FjordMor · 26/02/2012 19:49

In case I don't get on again today, Midgetm - good luck with scan tomorrow.

Babydust - Hope you enjoy your anniversary :)

Brownbear - welcome - a lot of us have had fluctuating symptoms. I've been dizzy & half asleep for days but felt quite good today (albeit rather fractious Wink). I'm hoping from what the others report here that it's not at all abnormal :)

Wrigle, Angelico - I also have a cousin who's been trying for years & is resigned it may never happen for her (and very depressed about it) & she's one of my closest friends. Interested to hear what happens with your friends as I just don't know how to tell her.

Zoeplankton · 26/02/2012 19:49

God help me, I must be kinder to DH about his cooking. But it's hard.

He's a better cook than he used to be, but that's not saying a lot. Refuses to learn how to cook (eg heat the pan before putting food in, cooked onions go translucent), but gets mad at me for cooking faster/better than him. When it's going wrong he will eventually ask for help, then blame me when he's not able to follow my advice.

The poor dear has, I think, about 1/4 a normal person's sense of smell. Worse, he was trained by his mother - im oretty sure she has no sense of smell at all (no-one could make food that dreadful if they could taste it.) Me, I'm like a bloodhound - I can smell everything (hate staying with friends sometimes- if they wash their towels with their undies, I know about it. And I know how disgusting that sounds. It is even more disgusting than it sounds to use the towels). So eating his food can be...challenging? I'm so tired though, I just can't cook as much as I used to.

Making dinner has taken him an hour and a half so far - and he's not done.

Which would be fine if it was beef Wellington or something. It's not.

It's curry. From a jar.

No-one can ruin curry from a jar. And yet, it smells revolting.

Just got called to dinner... wish me luck.

DameFlatYouLent · 26/02/2012 20:22

Zoe oh dear!! Good luck! That sounds hilarious - but I suppose only from the safety of my sofa and no scratch n sniff internet connection Grin

AKMD · 26/02/2012 20:30

Lol Zoe, I would just cook if I were you...

Congratulations BrownBear! I didn't really notice any symptoms until after the BFP but since then have seen feeling low-level nausea all day every day. DH is convinced is it psychological Hmm He said that last time too when in fact I had swine flu!

Psammead I have drunk 4 pints of milk in less than 24 hours. DH is unimpressed but I am still thirsty! Toddler DS is on 'blue' milk and I snitched a bit of his when our 'green' ran out Blush

8abyDust I love your names! I am trying to convince DH to have Elizabeth as a second name.

Angelico · 26/02/2012 20:32

Zoe LMAO! You have my sympathy.

Just booked a private scan for next Sat when (all being well) I will be 9 +1. Apart from my cold I feel really well - my only symptoms are sore boobs and bloating so really want to know that everything is going okay. My first NHS scan isn't until 13+4! SIL went to first scan at 14 weeks 2 weeks ago and found the baby had died (she did see a heartbeat after bleed / early scan at 7 weeks). I couldn't bear to get that far along and then find out the bean had never had a chance :( Would rather know sooner if that makes sense.

Angelico · 26/02/2012 20:34

Also, if everything is going okay would like to tell my friend at that stage, the one who has been TTC. I'm starting to feel a bit deceitful not telling her which is probably bonkers but that's how it feels.

missbone · 26/02/2012 22:09

Baby, I love Elizabeth (my middle name!), Oscar and Noah. Heidi reminds me of the child goat-herder I used to watch every week in subtitles!

Had a good, long look at my body in the mirror tonight. I am not ashamed to admit I am the owner of themost gorgeously pert, Reubenesque t**s I have ever clapped eyes on (they've always been a nicely perky D-cup). I am particularly proud of these when I consider the fact that i am 40; when I was a lapdancer I was dancing with 20yr-old chicks with breasts like spaniels ears. Anyway, on top of that, my bum is still an endearing peach (thank you, Michael!) and the only thing spoiling the picture is my recently reunited thighs (only at the very tops, though!)

All in all, I feel extremely content and at peace with my lovely, changing body...and for that I am truly grateful.

Night, night, darlings! Smile

marvellousmarie · 26/02/2012 22:33

Evening ladies! I've just read a marathon read to keep up to date!

Im loving the name debate! TBH I'm not brave enough to use unusual and 'exotic' names so I just stick to names I know and like! Angelico I'm very much like you and can't have any names that remind me of others, school, patients, friends! My Dd name is Ava India, and it suits her down to the ground! She is so gonna be an actress the little madam!

I just ate cheese and biscuits yum yum! My definate craving of the mo! I'm liking the idea of grapes and oranges too.

Mood swings, I'm not sure! I cried at the sound of music the other day???Confused

Anyway, I hope any scans go well, my booking in app is tuesday morning plus the extra renal USS ( which I'm hoping they may take a sneaky peak at the growing bean!).

Those of you at work in the morning, I'm wishing a bright and energetic start to your day! I on the other hand have a night shift tomorrow boooo!

AKMD · 26/02/2012 22:42

I just checked out the NHS choices website and I would like to share the great news that Stilton no longer features on the banned foods list! Brie and Parma ham are still out though Hmm

24, 6 weeks, DC2

Midgetm · 26/02/2012 22:45

That made me chuckle as I was just admiring my own baps, saying to my husband 'I love my tits when I am pregnant. All hard and perky. Shame that afterwards and a spell of breastfeeding they head back towards spaniels ears.

Thanks for all your well wishes for tomorrow. It is at 2.30.
Misbone you are correct - I did have an ectopic incident last time I was pregnant in September so I am telling myself to just be pleased if it is in the right place. Highly unlikely I will see a HB so must try not to be disappointed. Baby steps - not having an ectopic is the first step. Slowly slowly catchy monkey. Elizabeth is also my second name and my DD's. I hated it growing up so not sure why I inflicted it on her but I have grown to love it now.

Babydust a bit late but happy anniversary.

And don't even get me started on fluctuating symptoms. I am obsessed with if my tits feel hard/and or sore. For me this is the holy grail of symptoms. Started to feel a bit pukey on my mission to the chemist to get Fibrogel (And I got to tell the Pharmacist - 2 of them, so I got to say it twice. YIPPEE - I HAVE TOLD SOMEONE). Does anyone know how long this shit takes to kick in? I have not pooped for 3 days. I was already on 3 iron tablets a day which was not ideal but now pregnancy, and all the vitamins, have done me in good and proper.

I have been doing tests every other day to see if the line gets darker. Is this a bit mental? Rhetorical question as I know it kind of is. But it has been getting darker which makes me slightly less crazy in my head.

Night night ladies. If the night sweats doesn't get you the continual loo breaks or the squashing your sore boobs surely will.

Littlepurpleprincess · 27/02/2012 07:57

So are lots of you showing now then? I'm 8 weeks now and bumped into someone I hadn't seen in ages yesturday. She looked at me said "You're having another one?!" I'm really starting to worry it's twins....

Also went shopping yesturday for maternity trousers. Error! The only 2 shops in my town that have a maternity range are H&M and New Look, and both were obviously designed by pregnancy hating fashion police! All the trousers were skinny fit! Seriously! Skinny fit maternity trousers!!!!! The world has gone mad.....Someone needs to inform them that one's ankles grow to epic proportions in pregnancy!

Bubblebell1 · 27/02/2012 08:22

Morning all
lpp is this your 2nd pregnancy?
You will show sooner in subsequent pregnancies because the muscles have already been stretched. I've got a bit more weight round my hips and tum but not a bump as such.

I'm knackered. Over did it yesterday. Gonna have a lazy day today Grin

twolittlemonkeys · 27/02/2012 08:34

Oooh names! Having just finished my 7000 baby names book, I like
Ezra, Alexander (Xander as nn), Thomas, Noah, Otto (though DH has vetoed this one)
Meredith, Emmeline, Eleanor (nn Nell), Juliet, Ella, Josephine (Effie as nn), Elizabeth (loads of lovely nns).

I'm sure there were more but my baby brain has forgotten them - luckily I wrote them down on a bit of paper somewhere!

Angelico mine's booked for 9 weeks too. I expect I won't get my NHS one til more like 14 weeks as my MW booking in appointment is when I'm 10+2 Hmm

AKMD oh I love a bit of whole milk as a treat - sometimes have it for my DS1&2 as they are skinny :) My pregnancy book says pregnant women ought to drink at least a pint of milk a day... no complaints from me there! Grin

Zoeplankton I'm quite petite and finding the trouser thing annoying too. I have one pair of trousers from when I was a bit bigger which I am wearing constantly (though they are feeling tight this morning) My saving grace is leggings or thick tights with tunic-y dresses or a denim skirt and boots. Tights and leggings dig in far less than trousers as there's a lot more stretch Grin

Feeling very tubby today, and judging by how little of my wardrobe fits, I think I'll be in maternity wear sooner than I would like, then everyone will guess before I'm ready to announce it. An old school friend guessed just from me putting on FB that I had no energy for anything other than a bath, hot chocolate, a twirl and a nap on Friday afternoon (I did just that whilst DS2 was at kindergarten, it was lush!) She did know I was at least thinking of ttc again (when I saw her in August) and has some inkling of the fertility problems we've had. I will have to start announcing after the 9 week scan methinks. Just a week and 2 days of secret-keeping to go! :)

Zoeplankton · 27/02/2012 08:53

Monkeys - tights and tunics! Genius! Why didn't I think of that?

Was forced to go shopping yesterday as I am about to grow out of all my trousers, including the ones I stole from DH (!)

Can report that debenhams have a 10-30 pound maternity range in a brand called 'red herring'. Got a pair of maternity jeans for £28 for when the time comes (...doubtless soon...)

Unfortunately, their size 'eight' in tops is more like a normal twelve. And they were nice tops, too. Sigh...

turnwest · 27/02/2012 09:22

LPP- i m only 7 plus 2 but my stomach is definitely bigger already, this is my 2 nd pregnancy too. I m refusing to buy mat clothes though this early, so I ve been shopping and bought some dresses instead, i ve got slightly looser fitting ones that are nt as fitted at the waist than I would usually buy, that will see me through the next couple of awkward months and i m just wearing them with tights at moment. I ve got a couple of good ones from french connection and river island.

ChrissieJA · 27/02/2012 12:46

WOW- i had no idea Mumsnet was so busy. I posted on Wednesday and it just took me about 10 minutes to find my original post.
Some really lovely things being said on here. Its so reassuring to read about women who are feeling just like me. I am feeling much more positive today and not nearly as ill. I am 7 weeks now and i swear i have a bump! is that even possible?
I also got confirmation that my scan will be March 20th. But this seems a life time away! I really wish it was sooner. The Doctor had quoted me March 2nd but the hospital said the doctor was wrong. Nice to know they all know what they are doing then! Not even spoken to a Midwife yet so at the moment my only advice and guideance is Mumsnet and you lovely ladies.
the thought of not telling anyone for another whole month is tough too. But i am getting there and i do feel SO much better and not nearly as emotional. Plus i appear to be over the constipation. :) hurrah

Littlepurpleprincess · 27/02/2012 12:49

This is my second pregnancy. I've also had really bad sickness, and when my midwife saw me this morning she sort off looked at me like this Hmm then asked if there were twins in my family!

I had my booking in appointement this morning and the midwife is lovely. I'm so happy. I even asked her about home-births and she was really supportive. She also said that I CAN take my anti-depressents during pregnancy and refered me to the pregnancy mental health support which has left me feeling much better.

Good tip about wearing leggings and dresses! I must go shopping....

Very excited about next sunday. DH is taking me to Totnes and they have a brand new shop that specialises in real nappies! lame

marvellousmarie · 27/02/2012 15:45

Afternoon ladies!

Was just thinking to myself, did anyone use the Chinese pregnancy calendar? My husband and I did and were hoping for a boy. But quite honestly I don't mind as long as the baby is healthy! We even did it doggy, which apparently increases the chances and on the day of ovulation, so we will see! I don't want to find out but DH does!

twolittlemonkeys · 27/02/2012 16:05

Hello again!

What can I have to eat? Have been ravenous today yet can't find anything I fancy eating other than junk. And as I've had 2 hot chocolates and 2 twirls as well as 2 cans of pepsi max (I know, I need to cut the caffeine) I can't really justify eating a load of crap. Only healthy(ish) thing I've had was a small chicken and salad wholemeal roll at lunchtime though the healthiness of it was probably outweighed by the real butter and mayonnaise I had slathered all over the bread Blush No wonder I'm expanding at the waist... it has nothing to do with baby and everything to do with me eating like a pig!

MsInterpret · 27/02/2012 16:24

Hi chatty ladies Grin i've not had the energy to post recently but been lurking...

I'm sure lots of people at work know too as my tummy is so bulgy. Second pregnancy here too. I'm also feeling ill, ill today. Have come home early. I had 9 children off in my class today and several more who should have been, spreading their germs around. Yeeuch!

I still haven't heard about my booking appt with midwife, though got my scan date v promptly from hospital. Guess I'll give a bit of time as my scan's not til end March, even though I'm 9+3 today!

Midgetm · 27/02/2012 16:33

Afternoon all. had my scan this afternoon and as positive as I could hope for. Good news is it is in the right place and developed as much as possible for now. Growth of it matches my dates exactly 5wk plus 3 so that is all very positive. Next scan will be at 6 +5 so there should be a HB by then. Have a strange kind of calmness really and can't help still remain positive. On the showing front I would say I just look thicker round the waist. At 6 weeks the last couple of pregnancies I looked about 3 months though so hoping that won't be the case as have an interview next week so that may put them off me a tad.... Hope you are all ok, especially those suffering with sickness.

Beans1977 · 27/02/2012 16:35

Afternoon ladies.

Hope you're all having good days. I had my booking in appointment with the midwife today - really dull, an hour of questions about everything, urine test, blood pressure, BMI test and jabbed three times with needles while she tried to find 'decent' veins!

But she was lovely, and she helped calm me down a bit. I had a real wobble on Sunday about the twin we lost, but she's helped me believe that I've every reason to be hopeful about the twin that we still have - the combination of bloods and nuchal scan at the 12-week scan will give us a really good idea, she said. She has explained the next few appointments to me, given me buckets of stuff to read, and talked about the antenatal classes - is it just me who assumed NCT classes were free? £300 apparently! Eek. Better get saving...

I'm off volunteering now (volunteer Mondays and Wednesday nights) so hope I can keep my eyes open - and hope you all have nice evenings. x
