We are TTC number 2.

I am finding the notion of abandoning my nightly glass of red quite depressing. What do you substitute wine with?

Last time round I only wanted to drink water and milk, but it would be nice to have a nice evening drink to look forward to!

San Pellegrino Limonata, red bush chai, Milo (cold), Virgin Marys. The Limonata is the best... it's cold, fizzy, comes in a can and isn't too sweet. Simulates the pleasures of beer imo!

I still have either one tea or one coffee (instant) a day too.

tootssweet · 31/01/2012 22:48

Fentimans Shandy was quite tasty if I felt the urge for alcohol. Poncy teas helped with indigestion - Morrisons did a good ginger & lime one

LadyMaybe · 31/01/2012 23:33

Lemon, lime and bitters
Ginger Beer
Becks blue
Water
Milk
Tea
Coffee
Diet coke
Strawberry milk
Lime and soda
Virgin mary
Fizzy water
On special occasions now that I'm at 25 weeks+, a glass of champagne

LadyWidmerpool · 31/01/2012 23:34

Virgin sea breeze - cranberry and grapefruit. Also a tonic fan.

Rhinestone · 01/02/2012 02:41

Fizzy water with lots of fresh mint leaves - REALLY nice!
Lemon squash with ice and a slice
Lucozade - the original orange one (I would be lost without it actually)
Water
Very occasional glass of wine, probably one every couple of weeks

LineRunner · 01/02/2012 02:46

Tragically, I had quite the hankering for Ovaltine. Rock hallelujah.

jaggythistle · 01/02/2012 07:35

nice juice
nice ginger beer (like crabbie's)
red shloer is nice
the nicest alcohol free beer I've found is Bavaria. there is a lager one and a wheat beer type one which are a nice change. needs to be nice and cold though. the Cobra 0% is second place for me.

missing my wine a bit more this time myself!

puzzletree · 01/02/2012 10:32

Agree with others about nice tonic water with ice and a slice, if you normally like G&T. I've not really substituted wine, I do love red wine when not pregnant but tend to go off it when pregnant.

Fishandjam · 01/02/2012 10:37

Bavaria alcohol-free what beer (see here: www.alcoholfree.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=491) Really not bad, especially with a slice of lemon.

Fishandjam · 01/02/2012 10:37

Tsk - wheat beer not what beer!

bibbitybobbityhat · 01/02/2012 10:39

Cranberry and raspberry juice with ice and a slice of orange.

Ginger beer topped up with lime cordial.

Rock's lime squash made up with fizzy water.

Tinsie · 01/02/2012 10:46

I drank the occasional small glass of wine and on warm days, lager shandy. Also coke from time to time. Otherwise, sparkling water, lots of it!

justhayley · 01/02/2012 11:07

You can get non alcoholic wine you should try that - or grape juice tastes pretty similar. X

Ktay · 01/02/2012 11:15

Tropicana do a nice traditional lemonade (100% fruit juice - a mix of apple, grapefruit and lemon). It nearly hits the spot when I'm missing the acidic taste of a nice sauvignon blanc.

surreyhillsmumtobe · 01/02/2012 11:18

Appletiser out of a champagne glass feels like a treat! Also elderflower cordial and fizzy water, or if you find yourself out in a nice bar, get them to make you up a non-alcoholic cocktail, I hardly notice the lack of booze!

StarlightMcKenzie · 01/02/2012 11:19

I drink water, milk, bitter (purer than lager and lots of great b vits), red wine, some fresh fruit juices and appletise.

I avoid most squash and fizzy soft drinks as there is research evidence that shows they can be damaging to developing baby, unlike alcohol for which there is no such evidence.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 01/02/2012 14:04

I find most fruit drinks v sweet when pregnant. I agree about tonic water (esp with ice and a slice), but have really enjoyed new drinks from M&S. They're made in a brewery, so although they're fruit-based, they taste hoppy rather than sweet, rather along the same lines as Frambozen or other fruit beers. They do elderflower, apple or citrus flavours. Highly recommended!

holls2000 · 01/02/2012 14:27

I'm drinking buckets of juice and also am
making banana milkshakes - gets calcium and fruit into me!!!

aaahhhBump · 01/02/2012 18:33

Tesco sparkling orange, mango an mandarin. (tastes like a belini) and dobbies garden centre has a food halland they have a sparling non alcoholic elderflower wine it is really taste. I miss my sparkles. :o

ladyfoucault · 01/02/2012 18:54

Tesco do a non-alcoholic white wine called "Eisberg" which is great when it is drunk cold. Almost like normal white wine. I had fantastic non-alcoholic lager when I was on holiday in Portugal, "Superbock Lemon", but haven't been able to find it here. Shame, because it is so lovely and refreshing.
I love Orangina at the moment, and Fentiman's Ginger Beer.

CountessOlenska · 01/02/2012 18:57

Soda water. Everything else was too sweet. Plus odd glass of wine.

MoreDeadlier · 01/02/2012 19:05

Have you tried Bottlegreen Spiced Berry Cordial? Fantastic if you like mulled wine (minus the booze content sadly)!

susiey · 01/02/2012 19:07

I agree about the m & s drinks made with hops they're delicious!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 01/02/2012 19:36

Oh and Waitrose stock a deeeeeelicious cordial of rise and pomegranate. It's great with sparkling water, but don't use tonic water as it tastes like Tizer Sad

holls2000 · 01/02/2012 19:55

oooh lady Orangina...will have to get me some of that!!!!!!!
