Morning sickness = girl?

Sorry if this has been done a million times before but I'm currently 12+6 and have had appalling 'morning'/ all day sickness since for last 7 weeks. People keep saying 'ooh, that means it's a girl!' Apparently you get worse sickness with girls? We'd quite like a girl (though would be overjoyed beyond words with a healthy version of either!) so are quite intrigued about whether there's anything in this theory? What are your experiences? And any other theories on ways to get an inkling before the 20 week scan? So exciting! x

Oooh and shape of bump - I remember two colleagues staring at my bump and agreeing that it was a certain shape (can't remember now) - having agreed on this, at exactly the same time, one said baby was obviously going to be a boy just as the other said girl......

I've had one DD and one DS so I can't even remember which pregnancy that was, but I suppose one of them must have been right Grin

ASByatt · 27/01/2012 16:14

And nose thing sounds very alarming........ Shock

Haribojoe · 27/01/2012 16:16

I always get mega morning sickness and have 3 gorgeous DS, my friends all think DC4 will be a girl as my sickness has been so much better this time Grin

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 27/01/2012 16:16

I should say, my friends sister is pg and when I saw a pic of her on FB I told friend I thought it was a girl based on her nose situation. I was right. So it's not just me it's happened to...

Peasandyoghurt · 27/01/2012 16:16

No idea, but I've got a completely mental sister in law who's completely distraught that I've got ms because she's convinced it means a girl; she's had two boys and would like a girl and is quite pissed off at my lack of consideration at being so ill!

It was true for me.. I was horribly sick with DD till the day she was born and not really that sick at all with DS and positively glowed after 12w.

My nose grew too. And my feet. And my arse.

Mrswhiteinthekitchen · 27/01/2012 16:21

Didn't have ANY sickness in either of my two pregnancies and have two dds.

Peekabooooo · 27/01/2012 16:22

I had no morning sickness with my DD.
I was told you could tell from the speed of the heartbeat if it is a girl (fast) / boy (slow). Probably another old wives tale though.

Astronaut79 · 27/01/2012 16:23

Felt sick with both of mine but was never actually sick. Felt sick longer second time and came closer to throwing up, but that could have been exhaustion at full time work + toddler. Carried exactly the same with both.

Ds first, dd 3 months ago. I even guessed dd wrong myself! Needless to say will not be guessing sex of anyone else's baby ever again!

ASByatt · 27/01/2012 16:26

Peekaboooooo midwife told me about the heartbeat thingie and she was right both times, I thought there was some evidence for this?

JustHecate · 27/01/2012 16:26

I became very familiar with my toilet bowl.

boy both times.

heliz · 27/01/2012 16:37

When i went to the doctors at around 6 weeks pregnant and explained that i had terrible morning sickness the doctor printed out a few sheets on monring sickness, the causes and what can be done to ease it. I was shocked to see that in the list of causes the baby being a girl was listed... I dont know where the doctor got this information from.

notso · 27/01/2012 16:56

Am in Shock at the nose thing, am suspiciously eyeing my hooter to see if it's giving anything away.

I don't think any of the OWT are true,
First pg, sickness but no nausea just eat then throw up all the way through, put weight on all around not just bump, had heartburn and went off sweet stuff, = DD
Second pg, no sickness, had humungous bump but no weight else where, heartburn, went off chocolate = DS
Third pg, terrible sickness and nausea, huge bump and huge ass, heartburn, stuffed face with as much chocolate as I could = DS
Fourth pg, no sickness, small bump lost weight elsewhere, heartburn, haven't gone off anything =TBC April

melliebobs · 27/01/2012 17:44

Everyone has told me I'm having a boy cos of it's heart rate, that I've craved savoury foods, that my bump is a certain size/shape and that I've not had ANY morning sickness at all

Dd1 is due in 22 days Smile

morethemerrier · 27/01/2012 18:06

Bad morning sickness (all day actually) with both boys, mild nausea with DD, and same in this pregnancy but don't know what we are having!

Grin
Cutelittlecatlover · 27/01/2012 19:50

1st pg, mild sickness until 12 weeks - boy.
This pg horrendous all day nausea and vomiting until 16 weeks - girl so its true for me!

wheredidiputit · 27/01/2012 20:25

Morning sick/general ill - miscarriage.

No sickness 2 girls and a ds.

Unofficialpeacekeeper · 27/01/2012 20:29

Feeling nauseous - miscarriage
No nausea or morning sickness - 3 girls and 2 boys

Tinwe · 27/01/2012 20:49

My sister had 3 boys - no m/s, 1 girl - horrendous m/s, so bad her daughter had baby teeth problems aparently due to lack of calcium during tooth formation.
I had nausea with my DD and same again this time with sex to be confirmed!

littlepie · 27/01/2012 20:52

First pregnancy=morning sickness up to 18 weeks (working full time & dashing about)

Second pregnancy=no morning sickness (not working & slow get ups with toddler)

Both DDs! More to do with rushing about than gender I think!

Tinwe · 27/01/2012 20:54

Forgot to add, my friend was almost hospitalized during both her pregnancies, due to hyperemesis - both boys!

hippieshake · 27/01/2012 21:56

Awful morning sickness. 22 weeks with a girl :)

ilovesprouts · 27/01/2012 22:00

my dd was sick as a dog like me we both had boys i dont belive if your more sick its a boy =old wifes tale

nickelhasababy · 28/01/2012 10:30

I didn't have sickness at all, and I had a girl.

and all the way through, I got the classic, "oh, you're carrying at the front it's a boy" and "you're very neat, it's a boy" and "you're carrying high that means it's a boy" (actually, I have no idea where they got the last one from because I carried very low all the way through - there was always a good hand width between the bump and my boobs Confused)

nickelhasababy · 28/01/2012 10:32

PaschaandCustard - I had really dry hair all the way through - which was great because I only had to wash it once a week! (girl)
