23 + 3 & worried

Hiya I'm 23 + 3 weeks with my first - usually a very active little boy, however I havn't felt any kicks for two days - this is the third.
Starting to worry, I'm due to see my midwife next week for my 24 week check - should I be making an appointment for tomorrow to make sure everything is ok?

Thanks Hayley x

You're worried. Ring MW/local triage, go in and get checked asap. Reduced movements is all they'll want to know, but def. mention any other symptoms like headaches etc. I rang after 16h of nothing at 22wks expecting to be told I was being hysterical...and they told me to come straight in for monitoring.

FX you're little boy's just hiding like mine was!

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 03/01/2012 15:14

Yes do call them and get assessed. I had similar a couple of weeks ago, he'd just moved position and was quiet for a few days, but they'll never mind you calling and getting checked out.

catsareevil · 03/01/2012 15:14

You should phone today if you are onto the 3rd day of no movement.

Iscreamtea · 03/01/2012 15:15

Phone now and get checked, please don't wait.

Oeisha · 03/01/2012 18:51

I hope all is ok Hayley

justhayley · 03/01/2012 22:04

Thanks all, still havnt felt anything today - really worried now. Was at work today giving someone a health assessment and had to hear how she lost her baby at 6 months pregnant! Iv taken tomorrow morning off work and am going to get checked out. Fingers crossed everything is ok.

I wouldn't wait I would go into A&E 3 days of no movements needs to be investigated, it's probably nothing, but if your used to movements then defo get checked now rather than later.

Fingers crossed for you, don't wait any longer :(

catsareevil · 03/01/2012 22:18

Even if you dont want to go out to A+E on the basis of advice on a forum, you could phone your local maternity ward and run it by them now.

NoMoreMarbles · 03/01/2012 22:26

i agree i would ring your local hospital/delivery suite/assessment unit for advice. they will likely get you in to be monitored and then set your mind at rest. also have you tried the usual cold drinks/locozade/sweets etc and seeing if LO moves about? i had a few days when my DD stayed still and i freaked out big style but it turned out her back was to my front legs kicking inwards and all was fine...i really hope all is well for youSmile

jellybeans · 03/01/2012 22:27

You should definately get checked out.

mrsallcock · 03/01/2012 22:28

let us know how you and the baby boy is doing tomorrow. Here's hoping your boy is just having a rest, hope is okay, but never worry about calling your local maternity hospital.

essexmumma · 03/01/2012 22:29

I am one of these people that normally would be the same, don't like to make a fuss but 3 days?!! Please go and get everything checked, it is likely to be all ok and I guess you are scared of any potential bad news but you need to know. Good luck!

goingmadtrying · 04/01/2012 07:54

How are things this morning hayley??

Good luck for today fingers crossed your little man is just being lazy xx

Hi all, getting hold of a midwife in west Herts is an absolute nightmare! I can't get hold of mine, there's none at my GPs or the Antenatal clinic I usually get seen at! Iv been given the number of Hemel Hempstead and have been told to call back in 10 minutes so hopefully I'll get a midwife then. To be honest I'm new to the area and I don't even no where my local A&E is! I live in St Albans - I think St Albans city has an A&E but if there's no midwife there not sure there's a point going?
Going to see what happens with this Hemel phone call and will let you no! Am in a bit of a state this morning as I still havnt felt anything!

It is definitely worth going to A and E, certainly in my local one they can do scans. Please go and get checked out straight away, the midwife can't do anything on the phone. Good luck, I hope everything turns out OK.

justhayley · 04/01/2012 10:35

Thank you. I'm going to be seen at Watford general so getting ready to go now xx

My local hospital you can go the delivery suite if there's any sort of urgent worry as they have all relevant equip there. I went to A&E a few months back about something fairly minor and was sent straight upto del suite as apparently that's where you go once you're past a certain date. Sure its diff across the country but would advise ringing wherever you are due to have your baby.

goingmadtrying · 04/01/2012 12:54

Let us know how you get on hayley? Thinking of you xx

Moominsarescary · 04/01/2012 13:36

Hope everything's ok x

justhayley · 04/01/2012 13:45

Thanks all appreciate it. I'm I'm the hospital now - have been seen by the midwife and got a telling off for not come in on day 1, she heard a heart beat which is a relief Smile she wants me to be seen by the doctor who is currently in theatre so I'm just waiting at the moment. Im going to have a scan, they said lack of movements for 3/4 days is down to the baby either turning backwards so he's kicking inwards or he's conserving his energy. If he's doing that it's usually because he's either getting ready to make an appearance, or he's unwell. Hopefully the scan will show he has his back to us. Glad I came in, feel super guilty iv left it especially if he's unwell! Will keep you up to date.

Thanks for the messages xxx

Well, you're there now. Good there's a decent heartbeat. FX for him just kickin backwards!

AlexTasha · 04/01/2012 16:48

justhayley geeze that is scary, I really hope he is OK! Please let us know how he is doing.

goingmadtrying · 04/01/2012 17:26

Glad to hear you heard his heartbeat, let us know how the scan went hope everything tickety boo and he just facing the other way :)

justhayley · 04/01/2012 20:21

Hiya unfortunately I couldn't be fitted in for a scan today, iv been booked in for one on Friday afternoon and then a follow up appointment with the consultant straight after.
The doctor today heard him moving about a little and said she was happy for me to go home tonight, as the heartbeat was strong & I hadn't had any sickness, cramps or bleeding. She wants to check his size on Friday as she think he may be smaller than he should be Sad. didn't really say why I hadn't felt him moving - the ward was so busy it was a joke. Iv just been instructed to drink lots of cold, sugary drinks tonight and lay still for at least 15 minutes after and wait for movements.

I have felt some very light flutters tonight - know where near as strong as the usual kicks I get but at least it's something.

Hopefully I'll know a bit more tomorrow. Xx
