First of all I want to appologise for the numerous threads about me being so scared about having a csection!

I'm 36 weeks with identical twins and having a csection this Wednesday (21st dec)
This is my biggest fear for many reasson, I'm scared of the operation, something awful happening and just many many many things!

I have 3 children already all by VB so this is all new.

So i have 3 days till what I have been dreading is going to be happening, an strangely enough I feel ok and counting down the hours till I can get there and have our babies.

It's very strange and I'm thinking it will all come out on the day and I will proberly have a nervous break down!

Inherent web able to get excite about the babies as it feels there is this big hurdle I have to face first!!!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I'm actually kind of glad I'm having a csection in a way, as my body hurts so much, and I'm in do much pain, I couldn't imagine trying to cope with labour as well.

It's just so nerve wracking

Hi, hope it goes really well tomorrow!
I am due to have mine on Friday - completely elective (previous traumatic birth) but I am starting to get really nervous now. Sure it's partly feat of the unknown. But it has to be better than what I went through last time!! Am particularly dreading the waiting around as I am impatient at the best of times!
Anyway, good luck and it will soon all be done and you will have your rewards!!

sunnysunchild · 20/12/2011 17:54

Just wanted to wish you luck and a speedy recovery Katy :) Don't worry! The thought is worse than the actuality... (make sure you post an update here!)

xkatyx · 20/12/2011 18:20

I had an ELCS and it was a lovely experience. It was a week earlier than planned because my waters broke so no waiting around to get nervous about, but it all went really smoothly. OH was in the theatre with me, they put DD on my chest as soon as she was born, it was wonderful in every respect.

Best of luck I am sure you will have a great experience too!

xkatyx · 20/12/2011 18:54

Thank you booboo, I would love it to run that smoothly.

Did u feel ok after as in, do your energy levels drop ad you feel in your self crap? Or just normal?

I didn't feel crap at all - I felt on a high each time.

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 21/12/2011 13:20

Just a quick best wishes from me for tomorrow, I've read a few of your threads.

I'm doing it one handed owing to 8 day old DS on my lap who won't be put down.

I had my ELCS last Monday- was at my request. It was a lovely experience- the worst bit was like jaffa the waiting as it was nil by mouth and they had to put a drip in for hydration. But the staff were lovely, it was all calm, happy, relaxed, and the whole thing felt like it took minutes when it was over an hour. They latched him for me in recovery and he fed straight away.

Born at 4.45pm and by 7.30am the following day all my lines were out and I was mobile, had showered myself and had the bandage off. The pain has been minimal and controlled by paracetomol and ibuprofen.

It really can be a positive experience, but I can completely understand how you feel as I would be in the same boat if I ever had a VB.

The very best of luck for tomorrow, how exciting to have to have identical twin girls for Xmas! Would love to know how it goes and may sneak onto your thread to see Xmas Smile.

Booboostoo · 21/12/2011 18:37

I was also very hyper, did not sleep at all the first 24 hours after. Drips, etc. were out 24 hours later and I was able to move about a bit. Recovery was a lot better than what I expected, but I took all the pain meds available!!! I was out of hospital after 4 days, and walking about all day long almost as normal about a week after.

poorbuthappy · 21/12/2011 23:24

Is b-day today or tomorrow?

xkatyx · 22/12/2011 10:19

Thank you everyone, both babies are out.

It was a very long day yesterday had to wait 9 hours for csection the procedure was fine but I lost a little more blood than usual and it took longer so was in there for a while. I feel sore and full of wind (tmi) that won't come out so uncomfortable .. Is that normal?

Both babies needed anlittle help breathing so are in special care but doing well, haven't had a cuddle yet :(

Katy congrats! Grin. Glad both LOs are doing well, even if they are needing some assistance. You'll get to snuggle them soon!

Can't help with the wind bit, but hopefully you'll feel more comfy soon!

SantaSHO · 22/12/2011 11:04

Congrats katy hope you get to cuddle your princesses soon.
As far as I know the wind is normal. The mw'svshould be able to help you with it

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 22/12/2011 11:20

Congratulations katy - hope you get your cuddles soon!

Take care xxx

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 22/12/2011 12:00

Congrats katy Grin I think the wind is normal.

Hope you get your cuddles soon :( :)

TheFirstNoelChinchilla · 22/12/2011 12:24

Huge congratulations!

The wind is grim, and quite often the pain transfers to your shoulder- it did for me, and for about a day it was very painful.
The hospital gave me a warm, peppermint concoction which I took whenever I could- do take this, and it should clear in a day or two.
You will fart like you never thought possible, and if possible do it on the loo, IYSWIM...

Enjoy the cuddles when they come.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 22/12/2011 12:39

congratulations katy - really great that both babies are here and doing ok, even if they need a bit of help right now. CONGRATS!!!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 22/12/2011 13:11

Congratulations - thinking of you and your girls - do they have names yet?
x

Booboostoo · 22/12/2011 13:21

Congratulations that's great news!!! Hope you get to cuddle both of them very soon!

supadupaturkeystupor · 22/12/2011 13:21

yeay for Katy!!!! congratulations Grin

xkatyx · 22/12/2011 18:27

I wish I could release the wind :) it won't budge!

Babies are called Rosie and holly, both doing well breathing on there own now.

I'm in alot of pain and have been sick, I feel pretty rubbish if I'm honest. I think the sickness was down to the codine (sp?)

Also Rosie has a little heart mummer, I was told it was common?? But they will keep a eye on it.

I think I need cuddles with the babies to cheer me up at the moment I'm just full of tears

Lovely names!!

Lily had a heart murmur at birth too and they said that in 90% of cases it just disappears on its own. The doc can no longer hear it now at 6.5 months and we're waiting for the ultrasound to confirm it's gone. I think small heart defects are very common in newborns and the overwhelming majority disappear on their own so don't worry too much!

Can you get your doc to review your meds? Something obviously is not working for you and they need to change their approach. I appreciate this is not the best time for you to be dealing with this, maybe DP can have a word and sort it out for you?

cheesesarnie · 23/12/2011 14:06

congratulations!!!!well done you!lovely names!

wind is completly normal.think they gave me some kind of pessary in the end with all 3 to ummmm realese it!
sickness normal too!

so happy for you!

thejaffacakesareonme · 23/12/2011 17:38

Congratulations! What lovely names.

DS1 was born at 36 weeks too and spent time in SCBU too. Are you able to walk there by yourself? If not, your DP can ask for a wheelchair to take you to see them. I found that the nursing staff were so busy that no one had time to take me so I had to rely on DH. Also, the SCBU may well have polaroid cameras so they can take photographs and give them to you. I know it is not the same as having the babies with you but I found it was at least something that I could keep beside me overnight when DH went home. Do you have a room to yourself? If you are on a ward I'd ask if you could have a single room if one becomes available or at least be in a ward with other mums whose babies are in SCBU.

Hope the wind resolves soon.

xkatyx · 24/12/2011 21:29

Thank you all, we are now all home :)

Quick tummy question, this being my first cessation (other 3 VB) once I had other 3 my tummy was all jelly but went down quick and return to normality after a while but with (what I like to call it) baby pouch.

My stomach is still huge!!! And because my tummy was so big and I'm 5th, usually doze 10 my stomach just blew up with the twins!

Now it's I have like a big over hang :( and you actually have to lift it to see the scar :(
I felt like crying when I saw it properly today.
But I was wondering will my scar heal if it's rolled under there
