'It'll be different when it's your own'...&...'it'll all be worth it', i swear I am going to either vomit on them or punch them :)

ShowOfHands - then you'll get accused of ignoring them!! It's a lose/lose situation I feel.

BelleRomford74 · 12/12/2011 06:47

I have had the "are you sure it's not twins" thing!! ...I feel like saying..yeah cheers you make me feel more hippo-like & unattractive won't you!!

but the most outrageous 2 comments from the same person..(a neighbour & mum from school) have been.. "You don't look the type to get yourself pregnant & end up a single mum, you seemed posher than that"!!! (It was indeed an unplanned pregnancy & I am now single, but omg is that not a time to keep thoughts to yourself ??!!) lol

The 2nd was last week at the school.. "Would you like a lift home, mind you best you walk you need the exercise, get rid of the weight you have packed on"!!!!!!! (No kidding, she did go on to say she is still trying to lose hers, felt like saying lose some off your mouth love)!!!

I think some people speak outloud when they don't mean to!!

NoobyNoob · 12/12/2011 06:57

'You'll have another after this, I'm sure of it'

  • no really, two is enough.

'2 under 2, you'll haave you're hands full won't you'?

  • well done Columbo
kickingking · 12/12/2011 09:23

What do you want to have this time? It's a baby, ffs, I'm not choosing flavours of ice cream!

are you going to have a home birth this time? Really? Do you not think that the medical issues which necessitated a section last time just might mean a home birth is not an option?

your bump is much too big for 21 weeks Right. And what do you want me to do about that?

NoobyNoob · 12/12/2011 12:29

Oooh oohh I have another one!

'You really are huge aren't you?'

Bless my lovely Nana! Yes, at 34 weeks I am a on the big side now.

BelleRomford74 · 12/12/2011 13:46

Just had a funny today in Debenhams... "Are you having a baby?" me "yes" assistant "oh thank God, I have nightmares about asking that & the woman is just fat"!!!!!!!!!
Why not keep quiet then!!!

PrincessSugarPlum · 12/12/2011 14:41

I came on specifically to mention the ginger biscuits. Everyone says it as if they're the first to ever mention it and they are actually a magic wand.

Oh, and "You're sick in the evening? I thought it was meant to be morning sickness". I apologise my body is not conforming to your idea of when sickness should present itself!

PrincessSugarPlum · 12/12/2011 14:44

And "you won't know what's hit you".

Right, ok, thanks for that. I have heard that a baby can change things, but being an adult I have weighed up the pros and cons and my DH and I have decided this is what we want. And considering it took me 2 years to get to this point, do you really think I'm going to change my mind?

StyleManual · 12/12/2011 15:23

"You don't have to eat for two you know" This one really gives me rage, as I have been lucky not to have put on that much weight so far (at 31 weeks), but if anyone spots me eating a biscuit that's what I get. And actually I do have to eat for two, it's just that one of us is quite a small, but I do actually need some extra fuel!

"Oh, we didn't have all this in my day" (when I mentioned signing up for antenatal classes Confused)

Eggrules · 12/12/2011 19:13

DURING - fecking ginger biscuits Angry. I was sick morning, noon and night, including 40+10 when I went in to be induced. Nothing helped except being sick and then lying down.

AFTER - when are you due? I had it last week Xmas Shock

The only respite from vomiting and being nauseated was horrendous heartburn. For me being pregnant was exactly like being ill.

Bad news fairies are the worst Xmas Grin

spannermary · 12/12/2011 19:14

How about this one:

"Ooh, what is it?"

It's a fucking baby - what the hell do you think it is, numb nuts?!

Sorry. It gets to me. Blush

horseynewmum · 12/12/2011 19:34

'Life will never be the same for you again.' NO SHIT SHERLOCK but on the other hand I hope that the sickness will go after the baby born or i'm going to be a crap mum laid up.

Eggrules · 12/12/2011 22:04

"GET OFF MY BUMP, you pump perv"

'Life will never be the same for you again.' - which is why we decided to have children.

Oeisha · 13/12/2011 07:30

I have 2 people, including my own mother, who knows I've lost weight so far, calling me "fatty". Yet, my SIL keeps getting told how glowing, pretty and neat she looks...

I'm also fed up with medical professionals giving me the "hysterical 1st timer" talks, when most of the time, it's them that insist on me going to hospital (headaches with flashing lights or abdo pains with BHs). I've stopped reporting them to anyone now as every bloody time they insist I go in and am generally there for HOURS and then get "the talk" and every bloody time they insist that I should keep reporting them...last time I tried to refuse, GP started talking about calling me an ambualce...even though I didn't actually have a headache at that moment...I was just reporting that's why there was a note to say I'd been admitted to triage the week before... Hmm All I wanted was some friggin gaviscon...which he wouldn't/'forgot' to prescribe...

Also got the "eat something before you get out of bed" thing. Yeah, that'll help my puking at 2100-0000...

horseynewmum · 13/12/2011 19:17

When you got morning sickness all you hear is 'have tried this have you tried that cause they work you know.' Well if they worked for me I wouldnt still be being sick numb nut

AllIWant85 · 13/12/2011 20:55

The one that's driving me mad is

"surely pregnancy can't make you that sick"

Well it can and is. On third week of bedrest with horrific hg, migraines and crazy dizzy spells.

SausageWrappedInBaconSmuggler · 13/12/2011 21:11

Ooh the bloody suggestions of ginger biscuits!!

Others that give me rage are:
"Oh one of each, you can stop now" this is despite my insistence that even if it were another boy we'd be thrilled and that regardless of having one of each we'd like another after this one.

"How has DS feel about it?" Well given that he's 13 months old he doesn't much care as long as I continue to let him to blow raspberries on my tummy.

"Hello bump!" Normally before or instead of acknowledging the woman it's attached to.

pixie04 · 13/12/2011 21:16

I get this every day from various people ... "how's the baby?" give me a minute and I'll ask starts tapping the bump

How on earth do I know?! Still kicking, still in there, still not talking to me.

VikingLady · 14/12/2011 10:32

"Pregnancy isn't an illness, you know", usually followed by "I'm sure I read somewhere probably Daily Fail you shouldn't give into it. You should still be running around like usual".

Am I allowed to kill them? It may not be an illness, but it can certainly feel like it!

Newtothisstuff · 15/12/2011 02:17

My favourite has been.... After announcing it after my 12 week scan... Ohhh do you know what your having ?? Hmmm oddly enough no !!!
Now I'm approaching the 20 week mark.. Do you know what you want ??? Hmmm pretty sure you can choose lol

MrHulot · 15/12/2011 10:38

"waooo! are you sure it's not twin?"

fuck no, but it is, you'll get one!

allibaba · 15/12/2011 19:46

"But your bump is so small - how can you be X weeks pregnant!"

"Are you sure you want a home birth first time?"

"Are you sure you want a home birth second time round, who's going to look after your toddler is your husband is with you?"

"You think this is hard, wait til No.2 is here. Then the hard work starts!"

Bastards Bastards Bastards!

kickingking · 15/12/2011 21:46

Newtothisstuff people kept asking me if I knew what I was having at 12 weeks as well Confused

And they keep asking if I will be having another elcs. I find that rude, unless they know me very well. Why do they want to know what I will or won't be using my vagina for?! Grin

broccolitrees · 16/12/2011 12:24

everyone has a fail-safe suggestion for morning sickness - if any actually worked i wouldn't feel like a sack of cack ALL the time.
also, has anyone actually vommed back a ginger biscuit - it burns!!!

MissRee · 16/12/2011 12:52

"you must be getting really fed up now and just want baby out".

Actually, no! Of course I can't wait to meet baby but i'd rather s/he was fully cooked first! I've also had a very easy pregnancy and am still enjoying it... which usually leads to:

"oh just wait til you're overdue, THEN you'll be fed up and doing anything to get it out"

Oh ok then but I should imagine only to stop people making stupid comments like that Grin
