If one more person tells me first babies are ALWAYS late I will scream/cry!

Title says it all.

So uncomfortable and impatient now but bloody everyone tells me I WILL be late. Seriously I know they don't mean any harm but I wish they would just not say anything.

IABU I know...

DH's client told him that first babies were always late when he tried to organise a contingency plan for a presentation scheduled for the day before my due date.

DS was two days early (which came as a big surprise to me as my mother had been 2-3 weeks late with all of us).

At 11 days overdue with my first at the moment, I slightly prefer the people who are saying that first babies are usually late over the people who say 'Ooh - but mine was 3 weeks early - why haven't you had yours yet? Have you tried...(insert old wives tale here)?'

For example my mother who can't understand why they just haven't given me a C section 'after all, it must be big enough by now - they could just get it out', or my mother in law who is phoning and emailing every day asking me to have a word with my bump and tell it that everyone's waiting.

Maybe in earlier pregnancy I felt differently - I can't remember - I'm now assuming I'm going to be pregnant for the rest of my life!

DS was born at 38+3

Mine was 10 days early, if that's any reassurance. AFAIK the window for 'normal' birth (as in not considered premature and causing health concerns) is from 2 weeks before the due date until 2 weeks after.

DD was 2 days early, took me completely by surprise as I was convinced I'd go 2 weeks over. She was due on Christmas Eve, so I planned Christmas on the sofa with family at my beck and call and then a lovely New Years Eve meal at a friends house - it couldn't have been more different! Even when I arrived at hospital, contracting every 5 minutes, I told the midwife not to bother examining me 'as it'll be another 2 weeks before baby arrives' - completely in denial

I was a week early with my two eldest girls and am exactly 40w today with number 3; not a happy bunny, lol!

My son was born on his due date. 010509. Best day of my life !
