Hi

At home, bored and uncomfortable and very anxious about the birth!! Could give birth today, could be 3 weeks, its all quite scarey. Anyone feel the same?? How are you passing your time?? Would love to hear from you. What are your plans for the birth, have you any tips???

I'm 38+.

Sleeping so well, not napping and forcing myself to go out walking on the beach for at least 25 minutes a day (killing me!) I have a 20 mo old, which is knackering enough.

Planned home birth, meaning I could go at any time and not have to be rushed out of the door.

Dreading labour as I know it fucking hurts.

glitternanny · 14/11/2011 20:55

Can I join in :) 39w+3 am not having many bh to be honest :( mot sure that's a good thing - am I meant to get more before he arrives

This is my first - he was 3/5ths engaged at 38w I guess he can't get out again!

happyrf · 14/11/2011 22:03

At 40 weeks, also induced last time followed by a 75 hour labour and a c section, the further I move away from my due date the more I dread it all, and can't visualise a natural birth. Is it right to be this terrified about a natural birth. I know that with a nearly three year old it will be alot easier especially with husband who can't take pat leave but I don't know if I can go through that exhausting experience again, my subconscious is assuming a c section I think. At what point to I say 'sod it, just give me a c section, at least i know the score then.

happyrf · 14/11/2011 22:19

....and I just put my phone through the wash, bugger

flippingstupidnickname · 14/11/2011 22:23

happyrf - That's such a personal decision... for me , the biggest thing that would stop me begging for a Csection would be the fact that you can't drive for 6 weeks and I would be stuck indoors with three kids - that thought terrifies me far more than having to go through the pain of labour! Grin Hope you have a very different story this time around.

glitternanny - I've heard that some women never really get any BH so I wouldn't worry that they're not increasing. I wondered the same thing about engagement - at what point is it certain that baby's coming out head first - can you ever be certain or can baby suddenly back up, get his head out of your pelvis and flip over??

ExquisiteCake - Wow, I'm very impressed with the beach walking - makes me feel like shit!! Envy Grin

I've asked for a Slendertone for Christmas and have ordered a Powerball in an attempt to get back in shape after the baby. And I've been using my FitFlops for a few weeks now - they really work! I figure I'm not going to have much time to exercise once the baby's here so I might as well try and fit it in where I can (hence the cheating FitFlops and Slendertone!)

twogirls1more · 15/11/2011 12:21

Well... She did attempt a sweep yesterday! Apparently I was about 2cms and cervix still posterior! (She reckoned that alot of my contractions and pain had been caused by baby's unfavourable position!! Angry! She pulled my cervix round though..(didn't know that was possible lol!) and it really wasn't v painful at all. :) Immediately afterwards I had vv painful contraction as soon as I stood up and once home I went to loo and had a little bleed. More of a "stringy" bleed on and off for a while then it stopped. Woke this am after a lot of pressure and period type cramping through night to find copious amounts of bloody gunky mucus! (Sorry for tmi!!)
Hoping that this all good sign as due date's today... (will keep you posted!) :)

ExquisiteCake · 15/11/2011 12:26

TwoGirls....Oooo that sounds promising!! :)

pilotsprincess · 15/11/2011 13:16

sounds great twogirls!
secound sweep for me tomorrow morning..please pray for me..Ive had enough officially!
I cant cope anymore Ive blown up alot this last 2 days, my feet hands and face are sooo elephant like :(
Please baby come outttttt

twogirls1more · 15/11/2011 13:51

Do hope you're right girls!! Will be keeping everything crossed for you pilot! Hopefully as it's 2nd sweep, this one will work for you! :)
I'm not getting too hopeful really, (after about 4wks of wind up it's hard to now, though it's hopefully gonna happen sooner or later.. hopefully without induction???!!) Would also be alittle too freaky if I was to progress today as that would make 3 out of my 4 that I've gone into labour with on due date!! Shock!

Pastabee · 15/11/2011 16:34

Aaah pilot I feel for you. I know how promising it all looked at the weekend. Can't be long now surely.

twogirls can't believe you've gone into labour twice on due date and it sounds good for a third! Hope this is it for you.

So far, due date is most disappointing day.... Have hot water bottle on my aching back but in the absence of anything else I'm pessimistic! Had this yesterday too with cramps and nothing happened. Go for a first sweep in the morning so we will see what she says. Mentally preparing myself to be told I'm a long way off giving birth....

ExquisiteCake · 15/11/2011 17:14

My MW is coming tomorrow to check me in for a home birth (just to tell me the eventuality that I could die etc).

Making it all the more real!

twogirls1more · 15/11/2011 17:36

Umm.. elf10, think you maybe should change title of this post to "anyone else 42wks and waiting for it all to happen?!!!!!" Can't believe none of us gone yet! grrr... Just had 2hrs of painful contractions 6mins apart..AGAIN that have stopped!!...(Yep, my bods definately forgotten how to labour!!!! Angry)

happyrf · 15/11/2011 21:33

Thank you flipping..nickname, the thought of being stuck in the house with my human-spaniel two year old also keeps me on track for a natural birth, eating pineapple, drinking horrid tea and fingers crossed, seeing consultant on fri so will see hat he thins

youtalkintome · 16/11/2011 18:51

Well i'm having a shocker, sorry massive moan. I feel very sorry for myself today. My boiler is still broken, i have been stuck in the house with workmen for 3 days becoming more and more panic stricken that they are just going to condemn it.

The specialist guy is coming tomorrow. I haven't dressed or washed properly due to the lack of hot waster and dh has just had to take dc to a friends to bath them. My very expensive pool is here and the house looks so pretty and yet DH is talking about the possibility of having to move in with MIL if they can't fix it so my HB could well be out of the question. I've spent the last couple of weeks nesting and we had the house decorated so it would be all perfect for a new baby at Christmas Sad. I can't believe this is happening now, i need baby to stay very much put although thankfully not having so many BH think they must have been caused by the baby turning from breech to cephalic. My heartburn is making me sick and i'm shattered but unable to have a nap because of the twoing and froing of the workmen.

two i'm checking all the time because i'm sure your baby is going to be born anytime. One of you has to give the rest of us hope and have a baby soon.

glitternanny · 16/11/2011 19:19

Ohh I just read in my MW notes that I SHOULD be offered a sweep on Friday!

OMG - off to google about sweeps and how effective they are

twogirls1more · 17/11/2011 10:04

My god you, didn't you have a shocking day yesterday! (Like I said before, you need that like a whole in the head!!)
Well.. I'm still waiting! (Am def focusing on my DD by last period and not DD the hosp gave me by scan now..which is tomorrow!!) Silly I know but makes me feel fractionally better about it all lol! Grin STILL getting lots of contractions that just aren't going anywhere but today I feel particularly nauseous and fluey so hope that's a good sign lol!? (You'd think I'd be sick of looking for "signs" by now!)
Come on girls! Another wk drawing to a close and one of us has to have our baby by the end of the wkend!! Hmm

twogirls1more · 17/11/2011 10:05

God damn baby brain, can't even spell hole lol!!! :(

crazyhead · 17/11/2011 11:23

Am 40 plus 5, had a sweep, nada happened. I am going to be in for a really shitty slow induction next week I reckon. Great.

twogirls1more · 17/11/2011 11:43

Couldn't you have another sweep Crazyhead? Often if you have 2 or even 3 sweeps spaced out by a few days one of them works!? Do feel for you and hoping too I don't make it that far!

crazyhead · 17/11/2011 17:28

The issue is midwife appointments twogirlsonemore - there aren't any at all (I'm in a really busy bit of London). It is a good point though, maybe I could try calling the hospital day unit.....I hope yours moves on a bit more quickly than mine has....

my cervix is in a front position, and 1cm dilated, but my baby just doesn't want to engage. He had a really big head at 27 weeks on ultrasound, so I wonder if he is comfier higher up.

I'm quite scared of induction, as my sister just had a really horrible three day failed attempt at induction, followed by emergency CS with blood transfusion, the works. She's fine now, but it hasn't made me overly relaxed about the whole thing!

twogirls1more · 17/11/2011 19:20

Oh ur poor sis crazyhead! I had a bad induction with my first pregnancy but wasn't as traumatic as ur sisters. (Has put me off having another though!)
My baby too has a big head apparently and certainly not a tiddler which is concerning me now as not getting any smaller all this time that's passing!
My cervix was posterior when MW checked and attempted sweep so that combined with big baby bouncing in and out of pelvis, not a favourable combo! She did pull cervix forward though..(didn't know they could do that! Shock) and I had loads of show the next day. So, who knows?!!
Good luck getting another sweep and hope it finally works for you! :)

somewherewest · 18/11/2011 11:22

I'm 38+5 and am already (completely irrationally) worrying about needing an induction. I've had a bit of very mild cramping for the past few days but no Braxton Hicks or anything else. Come on baby Grin

youhavethekey · 22/11/2011 13:19

hope yr not really anxious, should have joined the hypnobirthing or PCP Matters (via the social networks} classes therefore at this time you'd be practising your relaxation, breathing, meditation, visualisations etc then you'd never have a dull moment and fears would be non existent.
Why not watch loads of hypnobirths on youtube. Eat loads of tropical foods, spicy foods, drink raspberry leaf tea. HTH Good Luck!
