Anyone else been going thru latent labour as I have, with just about every sign of imminent full-blown labour for weeks?!! (Am 37+4.) Can't stand the thought I could have another 3wks'ish of this! :(

Oh hun, can't say I know exactly what you're going through but I do know how frustrating it is waiting for labour to start (DS was 16 days late!)
What symptoms have you been getting?

twogirls1more · 28/10/2011 16:00

Thanx for indulging my moan tinky19! Sooo fed up now! Doesn't help that I have a vvvv active toddler who is really testing me at the mo and two other Daughters and a Husband! Have had the following....
Bits of a show on and off since about 34wks. (more the last 24hrs which is blood tinged.)
Nausea and a bit off food,
Exhausted most of time with spells of "nesting energy!" (went mad yesterday on cleaning floors and sorting out the whole families wardrobes!)
Hot flushes and shivers,
Slightly puffy fingers and feet,
Lots of low pressure and occasional shooting pains down legs. (baby was only 1/5 palpable at last MW appointment nearly 2wks ago and think he's moved down since.)
Needing wee a lot. (had urine checked to rule out infection.)
Increasing Braxton hicks over last few weeks with them stepping up alot the last few days. (Had them painful and coming every 4mins for 8hrs the other nt, then they went and had 3hrs of them coming about 10mins apart yesterday, when they were slightly more painful and started in bottom and back, spreading round to front.)
Have probably missed a symptom or two out there! Driving me nuts to be honest, just hate not knowing where I am! Due date still 2wks off I know and wouldn't mind if I would only just stop getting teased and could get on with my life and focus on due date lol! Had similar during last pregnancy and wasn't sure I was in full-blown labour til I left for hospital and then I was 9cm's on first examination!! Anyway, thanx for listening! Just feel like I'm in a waiting room and people keep on jumping the queue and I'm invisible lol! :) x

I am sure you won't have another few weeks. You do seem to be ramping up nicely and if you have lost more plug then fingerscrossed!
Whenever I feel frustrated about something like this, I imagine holding the baby/achieving the goal, and thinking when I am doing that. I am going to wonder what I was fussing about? For some reason this helps me...

Are you eating pineapple, going for walks, having sex and all the other things that are supposed to help?

Let us know when you have your baby, I am guessing in the next week max and they will be here. You have my sympathy, DD was 13 days late!

tinky19 · 28/10/2011 16:16

Oh poor you.
Well i can definately empathise with the active toddler. (mine is 19 mo and I'm having to breath deeply through his screaming fits.)
Have you told your mw about the bloody show? That sounds v promising to me Smile
9cm on arrival is good going!
It is very irritating, you're right about it feeling like a tease! In the end I became fairly convinced that I wasn't actually having a baby and the whole thing had been a big tease! (I was very tired by that point though)
Good luck. Hope you're baby puts you out of your missery soon!

Oh, isn't ot irritating when people say, 'of course you'll know whrn labours starting.' grrrr

brianmayshair · 28/10/2011 16:26

just typed a really long post then lost it Grr.

Having same here, only 35 weeks but have had show a week ago and now constant braxton hicks and upset tummy. Have been told to go to labour ward at the first signs of labour because baby is breech Hmm but CBA to be trekking back and forward. My previous labours have started like this but gone on for approx 3 weeks but they were both 2 weeks late. I'm hoping i don't have 7 weeks of this.

twogirls1more · 28/10/2011 20:07

Aww, thanx girls! I'm constantly on the go to be honest purplebuns but not been for many walks as such.. (maybe that's something for the wkend?!) Not yet had much pineapple though been on the birthing ball alot and drinking raspberry leaf tea. Do hope you're right and this doesn't drag on more than another week but I'm not holding out too much hope as not had an early baby yet, (one 10 days late and with other two I went into labour on due date!) Did conceive this one v early in my cycle on that particular mth though so that may make a difference?! Hmm
Haven't mentioned the show to midwife tinky19 but see her on Mon if nothing's happened before then so will speak to her then. My Daughter's also 19mths and life v hectic! (Tend to just collapse into bed at the end of day! :()
You have my every sympathy brianmayshair I too hope you don't have another 7wks of this as not much fun is it!?? :( Are they going to see if baby turns and if not try to turn him? My baby was breech til 36wks then turned thankfully. :) I just would like my body to leave me alone to enjoy the remainder of my last pregnancy without constant reminders that today could be the day!! xx

BubaMarra · 28/10/2011 20:37

Apart from the show and BH, I' ve been having all other symptoms, but wasn't aware it was the start of the labour. 37+4, so might be the case.

sleepevader · 28/10/2011 20:38

Hello. I will join you with this. Been 2 weeks now. Just had two hours of contractions which aren't stopping so fingers crossed this is it.

Am 39 weeks now.

twogirls1more · 28/10/2011 21:33

Oooh, here's hopeful for us all! :) Hope this is it for you sleepevader! Sounds like you have a pretty good chance as you're 39wks! (Think I remember you from a previous thread?) Think for me the worst symptom has to be the contractions..(when they're coming regularly, strongly and maybe not yet "can't speak for enduring painful" but painful nonetheless!) and then after hours, they stop!! Angry It's the biggest wind up!! Really hope they keep going for you.. let us know if you remember! I'm having a quiet nt tonight with little activity in the BH department.. I feel like my bod and baby are at odds over when is the right time! Confused

OP posts:
brianmayshair · 28/10/2011 21:48

Yes, have a scan next week then they're going to try and turn it depending on position. Bit annoyed this was supposed to be my 3rd attempt at a home birth, am fully prepared been doing active birth workshops and weekly yoga and looks like I may end up with a section. Baby seems very wedged and very little movement. Acupuncture hasn't budged it yet.

twogirls1more · 29/10/2011 06:34

Oh, what a terrible shame! There's still time I guess for baby to turn but just something else to stress you :(! I'd not had any experience of this until this time as my 3 girls were all head down and stayed that way from about 27wks. I considered a home birth this time but DH was dead against so as I wasn't too fussed either way we're opting for hospital. I'm hoping that like last time, I'll be able to have most of my labour at home anyway, then go in fairly late as hospital only 5mins drive away.
Well, I've woken early with more pains and a bit more show! Wierd as my strongest bouts of contractions seem to have come in waves this wk about every 48hrs!! DH going to pick up my new car today so at least if this isn't it I'll have something to take my mind off!! :)

OP posts:
mumatron · 29/10/2011 06:48

twogirls I was like this for 6 hellish weeks before dd2 was born at 40+13. I had regular and painful contractions every night until the early hours but nothing ever came of them.

On the upside, when I did eventually go into labour, it was quick and fairly easy.

Oh, and obviously your waters are going to go in your new car so make sure you sit on a carrier bag or something [grin

Good luck to you all.]

mumatron · 29/10/2011 06:49

Grin obviously!

twogirls1more · 29/10/2011 09:04

Morning mumatron! Yes, am prepared for the long haul... (won't get any choice either way will I lol! :() I too had 6wks of it with my last DD but not quite so many wind up signs as am getting this time!
Midwife said she thinks nature's so cruel as you'd think that the more kids you have, the easier it would become to detect real labour but infact it usually gets harder as alot of women don't get any noticeable latent labour phase with a first pregnancy and this phase can get longer and harder to distinguish from active labour with subsequent pregnancies! Angry
I too had very quick and easy full-on labour last time and arrived at hospital 9cm's already! Would still prefer a clearly defined "textbook" labour though even if goes on a while! (My 2nd was v much like this.)
DH has already said same re new car..(think there's a sod and a law involved?!) so will def prep the seat lol! :)

OP posts:
brianmayshair · 29/10/2011 09:28

Deffo prep the car my passenger seat was destroyed the last time when my waters broke. The best advice I can give is plan as many activities as possible so there is always something else to look forward too and your not waiting quite so much, easier said than done i know Grin.

twogirls1more · 29/10/2011 11:11

Yep! Defo gd advice brianmayshair! Do feel like I'm in a waiting rm and being ignored at the mo! Having said that, though is gd to keep busy, don't want to stray too far frm home now, (well not a different county anyway!) Was meant to be going to a friends baby's christening tomorrow in Essex..(I live about a 2hr drive away in Sussex.) Gutted won't get to see her but don't think it would be wise to risk it as don't fancy the thought of giving birth in an unplanned hospital in a different county OR on the hard shoulder of m25 for that matter!! If I wasn't getting any labour signs I would've chanced it as still 2wks frm due date! :(

OP posts:
brianmayshair · 29/10/2011 11:36

Oh would you not go? it'll be fun and kill a whole day. Bring your notes and your bag just in case but i bet you won't need them. My waters broke at a country fair an hours drive away with FIL Blush we made it back no problem, i was 40 +13 and booked for induction the next day so after hanging around for 2 weeks thought i had better do something with my last day. It was memorable to say the least!

twogirls1more · 29/10/2011 15:23

Umm.. wouldn't think it'd be much fun just now! Getting frequent cramps and feel so knackered I can hardly get out chair today! Plus, if things did happen tomorrow and as quickly as with my last in the end, I'd never even try to make the 2hr+ journey back which would leave all the rest of my family having to check into a local hotel over nt or longer. Just not worth the bother and worry but thanx for the positivity! :)

OP posts:
sleepevader · 30/10/2011 02:31

Hi hope you haven't had too bad an evening.

I went out for a curry, had contractions 5 mins apart, eased off but still coming in pub, back home less frequent.

Now up after throwing up and having a bad tummy. They have started 10 mins apart again.

Getting very very very fed up!

twogirls1more · 30/10/2011 07:56

Sounds like you had a ntmare nt sleepevader! Do you think bad tum was dodgy curry or labour sign?! Maybe as I type your contractions have again progressed? (keeping things crossed! :))
My nt was another frustrating one! Had regular painful contractions coming about 10mins apart all evening and lots of low pressure etc.. got into bed and managed to sleep..woke this am and they've worn off to random uncomfy tightenings again!! Angry Think lots of walking today!

OP posts:
sleepevader · 30/10/2011 07:59

They stopped as I went off to sleep. Woke me up at 6am. Now coming regularly. Am ignoring them but may have a shower in a bit!

sleepevader · 30/10/2011 08:03

Hope the walking works for you. I think this is the most exhausting frustrating part of labour. You gear yourself up and then boom- nothing. I've been feeling like the girl who cried wolf recently!

twogirls1more · 30/10/2011 09:16

I know exactly what you mean!! Doesn't help in my situation with 3 other kids I have to get cover for and a Mum who's meant to be stepping in but lives a 3-4hr drive away!! Try and have a good day :) x

OP posts:
Savannahrose · 31/10/2011 09:32

Hey
I was having all your symptoms for 4 weeks up to labour at 35 weeks as I had an irritable uterus :(
4 weeks of labour symptoms followed by 66 hours labour! Nice :)

Good luck
Xx

sleepevader · 31/10/2011 09:39

Cheers for that! Some things are best left unsaid!

This WILL be a quick labour!
