Expecting the third boy and everyone keeps asking me if it's a girl...

Right, I am so fed up with this!
All I seem to be hearing this days is "Are you sure there's only one in there?" and "I bet you hope it's a girl".
I'm seriously worried I'm going to bite someone's head off one of these days. I can't do anything about looking 30 weeks pregnant at only 22 weeks and incidentally I AM expecting another boy. Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon that I'm pregnant and I don't mind if it's a boy or a girl but I'm getting more and more worried that when he's born people will give me the "Ohhhh...what a shame it's another boy..." line becuase I don't know how I might react. I don't want this poor thing to be the subject of such silliness and I find it insulting that people can be so nosy and untactful and think that all it matters is whether it's a girl or another boy. Has anyone experienced the same and has it bothered you to the point that you're stressed every time someone new knows about the pregnancy because you know you're going to get the "I bet you want a girl" comment? Please help!

Following on from my earlier post, I just remembered what my MIL said to me a few weeks before I was due to give birth to DC3.

My SIL was also pregnant about 3 months behind me, and they found out at the 20 week scan they were having a girl (already had DS) I had 2 DS, and she actually said to me, 'Well lets hope you can follow suit'!?!?!?!

I could have ripped her head off!

Yes my SIL is due just after me in a few weeks and having her first- a girl. She told me' (knowing pregs with ds4) that she was having a gender scan as she 'needed to prepare herself in case it was a boy' - 'i know a heathy baby is what counts but every woman wants a girl'. Then she followed this with a comment that 'she wouldn't be stupid enough to he having 4 kids'. I was rendered a bit speechless Sad

What is it about being pregnant that makes you fair game for stupid comments?! People suddenly become overly interested in the shape of your body or your family dynamics - just mind your own bloody business people!

I am pregnant with DC2. I have a DS and a Step DS. I am getting the stupid gender questions and just stun them into silence with a 'I don't care, as long as the baby is breathing this time.'

Apart from anything else, I don't get the fixation with gender, it is like minimuffin says - a gender does not determine ANYTHING about a child's personality. I had a laid back, affectionate, happy DS the first time. If I have any sort of preference about how my child turns out it would be more about their actual personalities (e.g. ideally, I'd prefer a happy child to a sulky one or a gentle child to a boisterous one) but I will love them however they turn out. Gender is totally irrelevant to me!
