Paige. Every gal I've met called Paige has been a b*tch. Sorry, but that's been my experience.

Amyjade · 17/12/2005 10:49

Like Summer and Amelia the best.

My Dd's

Freya and Libby

hativity · 17/12/2005 15:28

re Layla - it's an Arabic name and Leila is the more usual transliteration. Obviously the proper spelling is in Arabic! and there are different conventions re transliteration, but, to me, Leila is a literary, romantic Arabic name, whereas Layla is a slightly made up very "of the moment" name (as, imho, are most names with a "y" in them). It means night btw.

Although, ironically, the more usual transliteration 50-odd years ago would have been Layla, but I doubt it's use now grows out of a desire to revert to older Arabic-English transliteration conventions! boring aren't i...

Nightynight · 17/12/2005 15:45

Ouch hativity!
There are 2 spellings to my RL name, one with i and one with y. My dear Mother chose the one with y, but I prefer the i, it looks less affected!

There are exceptions to the rule though, I prefer Nicky to Nicki, for example. (just personal maybe)

Should I change my name to Nightinight do you think??

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 17/12/2005 15:51

Like Amelia (shortened to Millie) was on our shortlist but doesn't go with surname.

Sophie's pretty it's my neices name.

Like Layla and Katie

Don't like Paige, Faye or Summer

PeachyPlumFairy · 17/12/2005 16:40

Summer (but Summer Peach sounds like a brand of air freshener) is a favourite of mine
Faye was areally square kid at school, so no
Katie was ds3 had he been a girl, so obv love that
Sophie is OK
Layla and Paige- really obnoxious kids at ds's first playschool
Amelia- spoilt brat Rainbow I once had

Funny how our name choices are so heavily influenced by experience, isn't it?

zippimistletoes · 17/12/2005 16:44

what about sophie katrina

marilla · 17/12/2005 16:44

I'm a teacher ...seeing Layla or Paige on a register would instill cold fear in my bones. The rest are lovely.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 17/12/2005 16:46

I think Sophie is making a major comeback.

There a few new mums I have seen or heard about, calling their new dd's Sophie.

I liked Layla the best out of the list but not a fave tbh.

Amelia is quite a pretty name though.

collision · 17/12/2005 16:46

sorry but you have to decide for yourself as EVERYONE will have an opinion on different names!

I like Amelia and Sophie.

If my ds's were girls they would have been Annabel and Sophie.

DinosaurInAManger · 17/12/2005 16:54

Just my opinion - but you did ask - I like Faye but none of the others - and I'd run a mile from Summer, Paige and Layla.

Name choice is so personal - you have to make up your own mind really. Lots of people don't like my DS3's name!

janeite · 17/12/2005 16:58

I like Amelia and Faye - don't like Summer or Layla and have no opinion on the others.

MerryKidMas · 17/12/2005 17:30

I like Katie the best (I would as its my DDs name - her full name is Katelyn)

The others are all okay except Faye which I don't like, sorry.

HappyMumof2TurtleDoves · 17/12/2005 19:54

My favourite is Summer, then Amelia.

Sophie or sophia is cool, obv Caity or Caitlin is better than katie (wonder why i think that??
um... not sure i like any of the others...
mind you, as i dont seem to be able to have anything but boys, dont mind telling you that Isobel is just the loveliest name of all. and Jasmine.
knew a girl in Oz called Summer and it worked over there but think would seem a bit daft over here... soz, just my opinion, which shouldnt count a jot. pull them out of a hat if you cant decide!

allycotownofbethlehem · 19/12/2005 12:06

like Amelia best I think.

Also I like Summer but agree don't think would really work over here..

throckenholt · 19/12/2005 12:08

like Sophia, Faye, Katie and Paige

Don't like Summer or Layla

Indifferent to Amelia

nailpolish · 19/12/2005 12:08

I like Layla but prefer the spelling Leila

Berries · 19/12/2005 12:24

dd1 is amelia kate. She has now (age 10) rechristened herself Millie.
Hate Paige, like Sophie. Quite like Layla (but prefer leila)

munz · 19/12/2005 12:26

I like Paige Summer and Sophie on ur list.

but our fave name was Pheobe.

(close contenders were Isobelle or Kyra)

We3kingsofOrinocoare · 19/12/2005 22:17

I like Amelia best... but then again, I'm biased- my Amelia Kitty has just turned 5!

homemama · 20/12/2005 12:33

I think names really are a personal choice. As long as it doesn't sound silly then go with what you feel.
Personally, I don't like any of the names on your list but that's because I don't like girly girl names IYKWIM. However, this is just my personal opinion and although Paige does conjour up negative images in many peoples minds, the others are all perfectly respectable and pretty girl's names.
Choose the one you both feel you will still really like in 10years time.
