Worried- early symptoms disapearing

So I am a little worried today as yesterday I had some brown discharge and this morning a little spotting. But the bigger thing is my symptoms seem to be going ifykwim. Slept better last night (have been sleeping badly with hot flushes), boobs feel less sore and ?tight? stretching pains have disappeared?.. also don?t feel need to go to loo as much. Do early symptoms gradually tail off/calm down anyway or is this the begingin of the end (I am 5 or 6 wks btw).
I know no one can really say either way but if anyone has any experience of this and can tell me the outcome I would be most grateful

can't really remember about symptoms disappearing, although i didn't have sore boobs the whole way through so must've gone at some poitn!
but i did have brown discharge, spotting and bleeding at around 6 weeks... from what i've read on here that is pretty common!

feastofsteven · 13/12/2005 11:34

I also had brown discharge/what seemed like a very light period at 5.5 weeks and everything turned out fine. I would try and speak to GP about it; they might want to refer you for an early scan.

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 11:35

Symptoms disappearing at 5 or 6 weeks is not a good sign, I'm afraid to say. Combined with spotting, I'd be a bit concerned.

Unfortunately, they often can't see anything at 5 or 6 weeks with a scan, so your options are pretty limited at this point. (And unfortunately, there's nothing they can do to fix anything, anyway.)

followthestarlover · 13/12/2005 11:39

whatonearth, can you go down to the EPU (early pregnancy unit) at your local hospital?
That's what I did when I was bleeding. They did an internal scan and picked up the baby's heartbeat! They could find no reason for the bleeding and I went on to have a healthy baby

whatonearth · 13/12/2005 11:58

well my Dr suggested that if it continued or got worse then to contact them (so I am assuming that they would then refer me to a epu).
Feel factionaly less worried as urge to pee is back!
Never knew how nerve racking this would all be..... I had told myself I would be sooooo cool about the whole thing and take it all in my stride, but it's the not knowing..
It would have such an impact on my life and not really knowing either way what's going on I just find awful. I know lots of people have been in this situation so I shouldn't winge, just felt quite crushed this morning

I understand how you feel. I got in a terrible state at 6 weeks as had a bleed combined with really bad low abdominal pain and high fever. I went to A&E in the end, as I was worried it might be an ectopic pregnancy. Even though everything turned out to be fine, I'm really glad I went as it was so reassuring. Turned out the fever and stomach ache was from a UTI, so they gave me antibiotics. I had a scan and they could see that the baby was there, even though it was too early to see a heartbeat. They asked me to come back the next week, and then we could see the heartbeat (at 7 weeks). I'd try A&E if you're really worried, it really helped me. Good luck, hope it all goes well.

Mum2OneAndBump · 13/12/2005 12:36

The main thing to be aware of i think is if the bleeding gets heavier with bits in (sorry if TMI)

I Mc at 5.5 weeks i had no pain at all i just woke in the morning & went to the toilet & when i wiped myself there was a tad of blood, what i must add is this got heavier & heavier within the hr so i just new it was the end. I had also been saying about 2 days before i did not feel pregnant at all, so i new.

Goodluck maybe its an implatation bleed?

MerryMegandSnowySoph · 13/12/2005 12:41

Oh I feel so bad about the posts I wrote on the thread yesterday now.

Just try and take it easy and relax! ( any concerns call your gp or midwife.

I didn't have hardly any normal pg symptoms for a while after I found out I was pg, just a water infection so I understand your worries. I rememeber with dd1 being scared to go to the toilet incase something happened to her.

strawberry · 13/12/2005 12:43

Poor you. I have had both good and bad outcomes with spotting. I have had 2 successful pgs's and bled at a similar time (possibly implantation bleed). I have also had a missed m/c - no real bleeding but also no symptoms of pg either.

The worst bit is the waiting. I have had scans at 7 weeks in London at a private clinic - where are you? Fingers crossed for you

whatonearth · 13/12/2005 12:56

oh god soph, please don't feel bad! I really don't think the two are related.
No blood since the little bit this morning, so I'm keeping fingers crossed.
It's just such a rollercoaster isn't it?
The private scan is an idea, if anything changes or I get more panicky I might just do that.
Thank you all for you kind thoughts, it's nice to know it's not just me!

A private scan might be able to see more, but your local EPAU should be of use at this point.

It's hard and stressful, all this. I've had two miscarriages, and two successful pregnancies.

harley1 · 13/12/2005 13:17

Hi there may I join you? Im 9 wks tommorrow and Ive been to the Dr's today as Im soooo anxious. Not really had any symptons from the beginning- just aching bobs and a couple of really bad headaches and tierdness. Its all gone now and thinking the worse. Dr did nothing for my confidence said I'd have to wait until the hospital made an appt for the scan! Whatonearth I know what you feel like just havn't got the spotting. im keeping my fingers crossed for you all. Its just the not knowing isn't it?!

Sorry about the essay!

MerryMegandSnowySoph · 13/12/2005 13:31

please keeps us updated hun

Am sure you will be ok. Grrr pregnancy can be so blumming scary!

keep your chin up

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 13:35

If you don't get symptoms, that's fine. Some people just don't. But if you get symptoms, that then go away (before they're "meant" to), then that's a bad sign. Just FYI.

harley1 · 13/12/2005 13:44

Thats what I thought- as i said i did have aching boobs and headaches and tierdness and now its all gone. And now i just have to wait for three weeks untill my scan and feel like this. What can i Do i just want to scream.

whatonearth · 13/12/2005 13:55

Hi Harley,
Do really sympathise. It is rubbish isn't it. I am up and down, positive one minute, then god it's all over the next.....
Realise this could take days/weeks to resolve itself so am trying to not get too wound up in the roller caster ride of it.
In some ways would rather it be definatley over ifykwim.
Chin up, thinking of you.

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 13:57

harley, at 9 weeks, your local EPAU should be able to see what's going on. Can you call them directly? Or make a fuss with the GP? (Can they hear the heartbeat with those little things at 9weeks? I don't remember.)

abitshy · 13/12/2005 14:42

harley go to your hospital.
i went straight down (we have a walk-in centre) and was seen at EPU. I went back the day after for my scan. They saw the heartbeat and said I was 6 weeks!

If you're really worried then go to the hospital!

harley1 · 13/12/2005 18:44

Thanks guy for your support- what is the EPU unit does very hospital have one and how do you get in touch-Im having really bad pains now.
Have some spare time tommorrow. Will they do a scan there and then?

NotQuiteCockney · 13/12/2005 19:33

Harley, are they like period pains? I'm afraid it does sound like you are miscarrying.

I don't know how many hospitals have EPUs (or EPAUs). I think they mostly like to have you be referred by your GP, unless you've had a previous miscarriage.

If you are miscarrying (and I hope you're not, obviously), there's not much point in going in right now. They can't do anything about it.

I'm told you need to go in if you're soaking through a maxi-pad per hour. At that point, they're worried about you.

feastofsteven · 13/12/2005 20:52

harley - you're not in Liverpool by any chance? Just I know that the Liverpool Women's Hospital has a gynaecology A & E Department.

whatonearth · 16/12/2005 12:57

Well,
I have not had a good few days, Just got back from hospital. Dr advised an A&E check on tuesday and when they scanned they coudn't find a sac.... Had emergency laproscopy as had loads of fluid. They round out it was ectopic, and had to reomve fallopian tube too.
Am very bruised and upset, it was v painful. Feel quite depressed, as I wanted to not have to worry about pregnancy/conception, you know try and be relaxed.....Not the whole thing would be a nightmare/might not happen/I'm at increased risk. At one point I was even praying that it was just a regular early miscarriage.
It's shit
How are you Harley, did everything owrk out for you?

OP posts:
snowfalls · 16/12/2005 12:59

OMG, so so sorry

whatonearth · 16/12/2005 13:21

thanks, feel much better now I'm at home.
Still a bit shell socked though. Am going to try adn find out some more info this afternoon on where I stand for the future.
Sounds odd I know, but I'd like to know the full odds and stuff so that I can mull it over...does this make sense?

OP posts:
snowfalls · 16/12/2005 13:30

Yes of course that makes sense, try starting another thread, there may be someone with some experience
