Sooooo embarrassing....

With DD I think I had a 2nd degree tear (episiotomy). I never went back to hospital to find out exactly how bad things were and I know the consultant lied to me when I asked how many stitches I had (he said 6, GP said at least 16 Shock).

Anyway, sex after giving birth has never felt the same and I feel as if I am "too big" down there. I want to ask my consultant to stitch me up properly this time but I don't know how to put it Blush. Has anyone ever done this before?

Lol Mustcontrol, for me, the definitive insult to injury moment, was, when I was being sewn up, the nurse stopped, looked at my fanjo, put his head on one side, frowned, poked my perineum with his finger, frowned again, and then left the room, to find someone else, who came in, put her head on one side, frowned, had a poke, nodded, then left the room!! Shock He then said, " I've just got to stick my finger into your bottom, to check I havent sewn it together"!!!!!!!

Shock Shock at your stories! And some Grin
I just dropped in to confirm what JoseyM said about the pelvic floor exercise "lift all the way down" thing. I've been learning this to fix interstitial cystitis. Was very sceptical at first - a lifetime's training to hold the bugger up and now I find it's making me wee at inopportune moments??!
True, though. You have to learn to let it 'balloon' as well as suck it in.

Not feel it? I had g&a whilst they put the local in. Op make sure you keep hold of the ga as there is always a stich that has been covered by it. But I did feel the tugging etc of the stiches being done.

phlossie · 13/09/2011 12:36

I felt tugging. Maybe I did have a local? I have no idea. Grin CeeYouNextTuesday - someone stuck their finger up my bum and asked me to squeeze after DC1, and I just thought, I've just had a baby, I can't be bothered! Next thing, she'd called someone else to have a go, and I decided I'd better just squeeze the doctor's finger or goodness knows what will happen next!

LoveBeingAMummyAgain · 13/09/2011 19:16

I dint remember the finger up the bum with ds so was a little shocked with dd!

banana87 · 13/09/2011 19:43

I never got a finger up the bum! Maybe thats why I am in the position I am in now??? What is the point of the finger up the bum thing?

I think they just do it for a laugh... No, they do it if they suspect you have a 3rd degree tear and have lost use of your sphinctre muscle. You're supposed to prove you haven't by squeezing it. At least that's what I was told! Hmm

VivaLeBeaver · 13/09/2011 20:09

Do it prior to Suturing to make sure it's not a third degree and then afterwards to make sure the stitches haven't gone through.

I had a finger up the bum! I was a little surprised (she did warn me first to be fair, but even so!) but I thought oh well why not eh? All dignity had long since departed (sad)

MustControlFistOfDeath · 13/09/2011 21:45

Sad even

LoveBeingAMummyAgain · 13/09/2011 23:18

Yep pain relief up there too
