Okay, my skin looks terrible as even scratching when sleeping.

Everywhere is itching like ad, so much it's almost unbearable and I didn't think I could end up with any more problems this pg!

Can someone help and maybe give me some advice? I have no idea really what this is and need some tips for the itching.

I have tried piriton and calamine... Really not working.

Thanks.

Mary I really hope they do something about it today, I am extremely close to going on a killing spree!

Nunnie Hopefully you don't have it but definitely best to get checked out.
Mines started out quite mild and got rapidly worse....

They check messages between 8.30am and 9.00 and I left message at 8am so hopefully they will contact me soon. If not I'm not sure who to ring as they go out for the day and don't check again till 4pm.

SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 09:49

I'm leaving soon for my appt.

Good luck today and hope they contact you soon. :)

Good luck with your appointment Schrodinger, I had my first scan appointment yesterday and the gynaecologist told me it could very well be OC but its exceptionally rare to have it so early. I'm waiting on tests. I hope you get an answer today

SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 13:46

I didn't get an answer. :( I got told that there was no point bringing me in as they wont get my results until tomorrow. They are hopefully going to phone me tomorrow afternoon.

I hope you get answers soon too! Do you know when the results will be back?

Hi SchrodingersMew

I took piriton 2 times a day i was hoping it would have made me sleep but it didn't. I forgot to say to you about the burning sensation the cream gives you sorry. Ive actually had to start with it again as i'm itching all over.
Hope you finally get an answer tomorrow. I would kick off if you don't.

SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 15:07

They have given me Promethazine now. :) An anti histamine which is also a semi decent sleeping pill. Maybe I will get some sleep tonight!!

Ghan Try after sun, that's what I've switched to as it doesn't burn and is nice and cooling. :) My Dr also prescribed Eurax.

If I don't get an answer tomorrow I will cry and refuse to leave until they can tell me what's wrong. I have big patches of skin missing from my feet. :(

Hope your itch settles too!

OP posts:
PamBeesly · 18/08/2011 15:38

Schrodinger hopefully they CAN help with the results, its so difficult. The dermatologist won't see me until the 8th of September....I am going to get after sun and try it, I'll try anything

SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 15:50

I've definitely found the aftersun much better than anything else! Used about half a bottle in one night though!

A cold shower helps a little too, however I went in for a hot shower yesterday and couldn't actually feel the heat, although I know it must have been too hot as my skin was lobster red. I think I have scratched that much I am starting to lose feeling...

Damn, 8th of September is a while away while feeling like this. :( I'd end up on the mental ward before then!

So we're onto day 3 possibly 4 of bugger all sleep. I've always wondered what it would be like to hallucinate from lack of sleep. Hmm

OP posts:
SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 15:53

Ask for Promethazine, I had it for morning sickness for ages and it's a sleeping pill and also an anti histamine at the very least you should get a better sleep.

I'm trying it first time tonight for the itch, I'll get back to you tomorrow and tell you if it helps! :)

They have just rung and have booked me in for 9.20 am tomorrow with GP nurse for bloods (all collections gone for today) apparently I will be rung by my CMW tomorrow once results are in as sample will be marked urgent. If there is a problem the CMW will talk to my obsterician before speaking to me so a plan can be in place. If results are ok then they will ignore uless itching gets worse, then I may require another test.

SchrodingersMew · 18/08/2011 16:43

At least you are getting something done. :)

Morning OC-ers
Sorry to say the too-ing and fro-ing for blood tests sounds v familiar and I was lucky that my hospital had a clinic trial. Made bugger all difference in waiting for blood tests and getting retested cos they'd forgotten to do my bile acids or lost them.
Hope you get some answers and/or meds
S

SchrodingersMew · 19/08/2011 10:54

Morning everyone. :)

So doped up on all the drugs they have given me last night that I only woke up scratching like hell once. :o However feet are in bandages and woke up with a bloody hand so I am guessing I must have scratched a lot in my sleep. :(

Sleepy That's the point I am at just now, I honestly don't know how you coped. If the tests come back negative today then I am guessing it will also be PUPPP because I'm having a boy and according to the sites I have seen 70% of PUPPP sufferers have boys as their male fetal DNA can act as a skin irritant! Hmm

Sdotg Hopefully today will be the last I have to wait! If they lose these results I will go barmy as they had already lost my initial blood results.

Hope everyone isn't having too itchy of a day. :)

PamBeesly · 19/08/2011 14:44

schrodinger does bandaging your feet up help? I am at the end of it now, I had 1hour of sleep and I was tearing at my hands feet and legs all night, I'm just so exhausted. I will cry if I have this for the next 27 weeks. I hope you get some answers today, let us know

nunnie · 19/08/2011 15:08

Results are in and I am clear, so just general itchiness I think, annoying still but feel better knowing it has been checked.
Hope the rest of your results come from soon.

SchrodingersMew · 19/08/2011 15:13

Pam The bandages make it itchier but I have big patches of skin missing from my feet that look like huge carpet burns from scratching that bleed! So I had to bandage.

On the other hand though, the bits where the skin is ripped off aren't itchy anymore! I will admit this has given me some pretty disturbing thoughts.Blush

Ask to try a different anti histamine maybe? Or try Benadryl? At least that will make you drowsy.

I know how you feel too, as I really am not sleeping either. I have never been so physically and mentally exhausted so you most definitely have my sympathy!

Nunnie Glad to hear. :o Maybe they can try you with some steroid creams now that it has been ruled out? :)

I just phoned them, they still haven't got my results and are about to try and chase them up. Fecking sick of waiting!

OP posts:
nunnie · 19/08/2011 15:35

Hopefully I will make an appointment with GP next week if still keeping me awake, now this has been ruled,

nunnie · 19/08/2011 15:36

Ooops sorry, ruled out that should say.

Hope they get some answers when they chase yours today I can understand why you are frustrated does seem to be taking a while, poor you.

SchrodingersMew · 19/08/2011 15:39

Just got my results.... Bloods are fine.

WTF is wrong with me!? They said I have to wait for a dermatologist appointment.

I am literally covered in blood from scratching. I can't freaking handle this anymore. :'(

OP posts:
PamBeesly · 19/08/2011 16:21

i'm so sorry its still unresolved for you schrodinger, will they repeat the test? did they give you an indication of when you might see a dermatologist?

BaldricksTurnip · 19/08/2011 16:42

Hello. I've been following your thread and have absolute sympathy for your situation. I'm not a medical professional but what you have sounds very similar to what I had in my first pregnancy- PUPPPS. I think somebody has already mentioned it on here and it really is unbelievably itchy, like a thousand mosquito bites! I developed it at around 37 weeks although it can be common at any point in the third trimester. The major point about PUPPPS though is that unlike OC it is not dangerous for mum or baby, just deeply unpleasant. There's no concrete explanation for why it develops, although the favoured theory I believe is that it is a version of allergic reaction from mum to baby, especially if the baby is a boy (are you having a boy?). This may or may not be what you are suffering from but is certainly worth considering. I hope very much that either way you find some relief.

SchrodingersMew · 19/08/2011 17:04

Pam No, no indication unfortunately. :( And they wont repeat the test.

BaldricksTurnip Yep, I am having a boy. Thanks for the info, is there anything that can be done about it? Did you have anything that eased it?
