I found out last week after having the combined test done that i have a 1 in 25 chance of having a baby with downs. Its my 3rd child i'm 32 and my dating scan showed the fluid behind the babies neck was normal (1.7).

I have to wait until next week when im 16 weeks before i can have an anmio. I'm hating the wait and feeling worse each day and don't know how i will cope until i know the outcome. I would like to think i will continue with the pregnancy but i dont know how i'll feel if i get told my baby has downs.

Has anybody else been through this, im finding it very destressing and wish i'd never had the test done.

any advice would be gratefully appreciated xx

So whilst your waiting I'll tell you a funny story about when I was waiting for mine.

I was told it would be after 4pm, think I coped quite well till 4pm then it seemed to drag a bit. About ten past, before dh had got back fro
work my phone rang, I jumped up, bearing in mind I'd had my amnio the day before. Hello Is that lovebeing? It's so and so midwife (not the one I was expecting), has anyone spoken to you about your results as the downs result has come back quite high. It was oy the bloody mw from the doctors ?!?!? Angry _shock]. So got rid of her as quick as possible.

Dh arrived 10 mins later and then the hospital rang.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Great news x what a load of crap you had to put up with from a certain someone on here.

Ilovekittyelise · 15/07/2011 17:03

lovely news so pleased to hear it xxx

lookout · 15/07/2011 17:31

That is brilliant news! I am grinning from ear to ear GrinGrinGrin. So pleased for you. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy xx PS we're having a boy too!

kh0609 · 15/07/2011 18:03

thanks everyone......all the support i have had on here has really hepled me through the past 2 weeks, reading about others receiving good news with similar or worse odds than my own gave me hope and allowed me to be more positive than i thought possible.

For the only person on this thread who wasn't supportive, i really don't care about your opinion, i done what was right for me and my family. I was also really sad to hear about the 13 hour labour you had to go through, back to back too, it must have been painful!!!

Already having 2 daughters it will be nice to experience having a son, but i can say, hand on heart i would have been just as delighted with another daughter (it would have been cheaper too!!!)

Again, thanks everyone (expect one), and ill keep you all informed on how i get on.
