A new thread needed here already! Lovely Grumblin who started the second one, may be actually having that baby at this minute!

I hope this will be a source of support for present sufferers and ex sufferers alike and also worried family members.

I want particularly to mention my favourite feline FluffyWhiteKittens, who has been so invaluable a source of support on the old threads, and MOH, who has slaved to produce articles full of useful information and links to useful websites, LaTrucha, lovely CaramelloKoalaLover, Grumblin, NitNat, La, Lottie, Grandmagain, MaryLou, Cocoanuts and so many that I cannot name everyone for fear that the current sufferer may became annoyed at the long list...

Never worry about tmi or moaning. When suffering one has to discuss things that would make most people go weak at the knees and to have a good moan can help enormously with an illness where there is still a lot of ignorance and sometimes insensitive treatment.

It might help to remember - when you are at your worst - the words in that Eastern story.

In other news dd starts full time school tomorrow and she got a certificate in assembly for being lovely, kind and helpful :)

spannermary · 25/09/2011 21:53

...and so in the midst of such happiness (congrats coconuts!) I have a dull and boring question.

I am 11+5, have been suffering nausea since about week 6-7, and for the last week have been puking after every meal time, and after a fair few attempts at hydration too. (but not every time). Sometimes it will be during the meal, 10 Mins later - or even an hour or so when I think I've got away with it.

I've lost 7lbs since week 8. I thought it was giving up booze & eating healthy. But now I'm not sure. I'm size 14-16 so half a stone was there to be lost, but now I'm wondering if it's hyperemesis.

Or is it just bad MS/a bug? I thought it was a bug at first.

I feel like such a loser...been off work 4 days, not going in tomorrow. I'm a special needs teacher and just don't have the stamina. What a lightweight. And so utterly exhausted. Poor DH. He's being amazing.

Someone pointed me in your direction (was posting on 12 weeks and MS got worse - I kind of hijacked it.

Opinions/slaps/support all welcome!

helibee · 25/09/2011 23:05

Hi, can I join? I'm 9+5 with dc2. I had hyperemesis during first pregnancy and was hospitalised several times and given IV fluids and meds. I lost 1 and a 1/2 stone when pregnant with ds. Thankfully hospital was only 7 min away. I was vomitting and nauseous until I EMCS. Pregnancy was miserable and I could hardly move for 9 months!

This time sickness started straight away again and I've lost 1/2 stone in 3 weeks. I've already been in hospital but we moved to Scotland after ds was born and the hospital near us only has labour and no ante natal wards so other hospital is 1hrs drive. I can't even manage down the stairs as I vomit every time I move so an hrs trip to hospital, not fun! One of the GPs is very good and he's been out 3 times to give me IM anti emetic of cyclizine. I had tried metaclopromide as I took that during last pregnancy but it didn't help at all this time and for some reason drs up here don't like it! I also have cyclizine tablets but it's hot and miss if they stay down.

Sorry for long post I'm just miserable as I'm bed bound and GP and consultant agreed that it was best to just rest if it helped. I also have fibromyalgia and CFS so have to take tramadol. Of course I keep vomitting it uo and then I'm in agony. None of this stress/non activity can be doing baby any good! Also hypothyroidism so I need bloods taken but can't actually get to drs to get them done!

My midwife had hyperemesis so she's trying to get me put onto omepazole as a pump but only consultants can prescribe it here so need to get seen by him and make the arduous trip to hospital!

Is anyone else bed bound/house bound? My poor ds and dh have been great and my dad lives with us so he's been fantastic support.

Thanks if you've managed to keep reading all of this x

LucindaE · 26/09/2011 09:06

Hilibee and Spannermary Wecome (though this is the thread nobody want to need!) and so sorry about your sufferings.
Hilibee Thank goodness your midwife had it anyway - she won't be dismissive, at least. Would they consider Ondanstron or some other drug? I didn't have the luck to have it myself, but some people on here are on it and swear by it and I believe it is routinely used in the US as Zofran. This does sound miserable for you - I do hope it eases. I hope to come back on shortly with a couple of web addresses which might have useful suggestions/support schemes. Pregnancy Sickness Support is trying to set up a nationwide support system with local volunteers but it's in the setting up stage at the moment. Do keep coming on here to chat with other sufferers and ex sufferers, I am sure some more will be along soon and if nothing else, it does help one to feel less isolated. It is too bad about having the other illnesses - I must admit to ignorance about what they are? I think it is a shame we don't have home IV t he way they have on Medicre in the US. I am sure you know all about kesosticks, sucking ice cubes, ice lollies, jelly, sips of flat coke, sips of water, kesosticks to test dehydration. You must be an expert at all that. Am sending you cyber hugs.
Spannermary Poor you - it 's not the way one wants to lose weight. It unfortunately could well be Hyperemesis kicking in - all that weight loss and so on. I think y ou should make a dr's apointment, and meanwhile monitor things with some kesosticks so make sure you are not getting too dehydrated. Are you managing to retain fluids like sips of flat coke or jelly as above? Give up all idea of healthy liquids and if any food at all appeals, try. I know it's maddening watchng it all come up, and painful.Do feel free to moan all you like on here, everyone knows how you feel.

Back again Hillibee are you nearest to Edinburgh, Stirling or Dundee as I could give you the name and email of a comparatively local support volunteer?
I note that someone on this site is having injections of Stemitil. Is that a possibility in your case? MOH on this site has set up a website, ww.pegnancysickness.co.uk. I hope that comes out...

Hi, can I join this group too? I am 11 + 5 weeks and have had hyperemisis since week 8. I have been in hospital and on two different anti sickness tablets. Last week I thought I'd turned a corner as for 6 days I wasn't sick just felt sick. Now bang back to being sick constantly. Been off work for 6 weeks cuz can not do anything. I'm feeling really down at the minute and feel like a rubbish wife and mum to be. Just wanna chat to people who maybe going through the same thing x

LucindaE · 26/09/2011 12:42

Jamima Welcome, sorry that you have to join this thread, but there's very nice people on here, and I hope some will be along soon, there's only me about at the moment, and my sufferings were some years ago, but I haven't forgotten. If you had a few good days, that is a really good sign, because usually after you have had some then they start coming more frequently, so don't despair. Also, so many people get better somewhere between 14-20 weeks - I know that seems forever now, very few suffer as horribly throughout as they did in the beginnng, even those who have it lingering.
Sending you cyber hugs. Your L/O will soon forget it all and have a new playmate, and this will become a distant nightmare. All of t he ex-sufferers who come back on here to post say how worthwhile it is...
Other newbies I hope you got my messages?

Thanks lucinda. I actually meant ondansetron not omeprazole! Can I blame it on pregnancy brain? Grin

We're in Wemyss Bay, as far west on the mainland as you can go from Glasgow so not near Stirling etc. Thanks though.

I'm going for another nap then will eat more ice cubes, my dh thinks I've turned into a polar bear Grin

Jamina · 26/09/2011 14:38

Thanks lucinda it means a lot to know not alone and that other people know how hard it is xxx
