A new thread needed here already! Lovely Grumblin who started the second one, may be actually having that baby at this minute!

I hope this will be a source of support for present sufferers and ex sufferers alike and also worried family members.

I want particularly to mention my favourite feline FluffyWhiteKittens, who has been so invaluable a source of support on the old threads, and MOH, who has slaved to produce articles full of useful information and links to useful websites, LaTrucha, lovely CaramelloKoalaLover, Grumblin, NitNat, La, Lottie, Grandmagain, MaryLou, Cocoanuts and so many that I cannot name everyone for fear that the current sufferer may became annoyed at the long list...

Never worry about tmi or moaning. When suffering one has to discuss things that would make most people go weak at the knees and to have a good moan can help enormously with an illness where there is still a lot of ignorance and sometimes insensitive treatment.

It might help to remember - when you are at your worst - the words in that Eastern story.
'This Too Shall Pass.'

The Fluffy household has been vom central this bank holiday weekend :(
Having this sickness for just a short while really makes me think how the heck we all actually come out the other end of HG without being dribbling wrecks!

Sea pie, you will not be able to teach for a while, you will be no good to yourself, pupils or baby.

seapie · 30/08/2011 08:22

nitnat I'm afraid 'rarely cover' doesn't apply to the private sector. One of the few things I've missed since crossing over to the 'other side' from the state sector.

Sent SMT an advance warning email about the HG so they have a chance to look it up on the internet before the start of term. If they don't try to accomodate my illness, then they can't blame me if I go off sick. I don't want to though as I feel responsible for the pupils and there is a lot of exam pressure for the year 11-13 groups. Also, I've just realised that you have to declare periods of sick leave when you apply for new jobs, so my CV already looks bad from my previous HG pregnancy.

On a positive note, I've been given 2 more weeks of ondansetron. Only throwing up once a day, but the constipation is horrible. At least I can eat more healthily now, so I'm on the prunes once a day!

LucindaE · 30/08/2011 12:10

Louby and Coconuts How are you today? If it was only the bug, you should be a lot better...Keeps fingers crossed anxiously...
Seapie Just thought - pregnancy related ilness is surely exempt from mentions on job applications, because of sexual discrimination legislation? Also, if you're working in a private school, is there a union which might be able to advise? Not a teacher myself, so don't know...
NitNat Lol re breast pads and baby sick.
Fluffy Poor you over horrible bug - I bet that had you thinking anxiously, 'Let me see, when was my last period?'!

Hi there, I haven't posted on this thread before but after last night felt I needed to.

I spent all last night being really sick, bucket beside bed. Horrid. :(

I'm 34+3 and hate the sickness.

louby86 · 30/08/2011 12:23

Hello nitnat can't wait to swap my sick for baby sick Grin You sound like you're having fun with it though!

Unfortunately I don't think it was a bug Lucinda I don't know what's the matter with me, my sickness since Friday has been almost as bad as when I was about 10 weeks and I'm 15 now. Seeing the midwife on Thursday, hopefully she'll have some useful information this time, if not I'll be back to see my GP in the afternoon.

Sad to see others were really sick over bank holiday weekend

MotherofPearl · 30/08/2011 12:26

Hi all,
Hope Louby and Coconuts feeling better today? Good grief HG is a dreadful thing. SchrodingersMew, poor you - nobody expects to be that ill at 34 weeks, but it obviously happens as fair bit as all of us know. We were just saying on the thread last week about the ignorance of health care professionals in this respect. I had my 28 week check-up last week and when the midwife asked how I was, I said 'well, OK, but I'm still so sick', and she looked at me as if I'd just crawled out of a piece of cheese and said 'Really??? Still??? Surely not???!!!' as if I was making it up for fun! Grrrrr.
Hope Fluffy's bug has cleared up too. And what lovely Lilypadz you have there NitNat!
My weekend was up and down as usual. No voms on Saturday, went to a BBQ and managed to eat a fair amount, but forgot that stomach space is now considerably reduced so got home feeling very uncomfortable and breathless. Otherwise just 1 vom on Sunday and 1 on Monday, not too bad really.

MotherofPearl · 30/08/2011 12:27

X posted there Louby. Sorry to hear you're still bad. Sounds like a trip to the GP is in order.

louby86 · 30/08/2011 12:45

Sorry Blush forgot to say hello to SchrodingersMew hope you're feeling a bit better today and are resting up in bed or on the sofa Smile

Hope you're ok too MotherOfPearl

Not holding out much hope for the midwife as she just told me my sickness was 'normal' last time even though I explained to her that to get to my 9am appointment I'd had to peel myself away from my bathroom!

LucindaE · 30/08/2011 17:52

SchrodingersMew Poor you, that sounds dreadful, I hope that was an especially horrendous night? Are you on any meds? How are things for retaining fluids normally? I suppose you have kesosticks to test, as you must have been dehydrated after such a horrible amount of puking?
Louby I wonder if the midwife has any idea of the level of sickness you are talking about? That must have been so infuriating, I suppose she automatically discounts complaints about sickness because the majority aren't serious. I agree with others, you need a doctor's appointment asap if this keeps on.
Coconuts How are you?
Fluffy I hope purring again...
Pearl It is awful when being sick once a day is 'not too bad.'
Heftymutha How are you now?

Thanks everyone. :)

Lucinda Yes, it was an especially horrendous night, normally I am just a bit pukey but last night was horrible. I've never actually been tested for dehydration but it normally isn't as bad as last night and I have been on promethazine (every other anti emetic actually makes me sick Hmm ) until last week when I had to go on an antihistamine so had to come off the promethazine.

MotherofPearl My consultant is used to me being unwell by now, I seem to have managed to get through just about every pg ailment so far! But I do know what you mean, sometimes when I have had to go to MAU I get asked how my health is and I always tell them I am still very sick and they always give me a strange look until they see in my notes I've been given anti emetics for it and have had the jabs before as well.

Louby Hello. :) Unfortunately had to go out but am sitting in bed ready for a very early night!

I hope everyone on here is okay today, acid reflux is threatning the nausea to turn into sickness again, appt with Consultant tomorrow so might ask for my promethazine back.

Really hope everyone is okay today. x

LucindaE · 31/08/2011 10:32

Mother hen will cluck and say, after sickness like that, SchrodingersMew do watch out for dehydration. A headache, blurry vision, seized up bowels, etc. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to keep sipping at the liquids (or sucking ice lollies, ice cubes) because some of it gets through, though you think it is a losing battle...I hope you feel a bit better today?
Louby and Coconuts, how are you? And Pearl. Fluffy have you recovered? What a nasty reminder...

Hello!

Feeling a little better today, have spent most of the morning in bed though. Dr thinks I feel like this again because of stress, it's my turn to be interviewed re: the nasty boss on Friday and keep on thinking about it. Hopefully things will start to get better after that though Smile

Hope everyone else who is being really sick is starting to feel better!

HeftyMutha · 31/08/2011 21:47

Hello all

Had a very promising day after weeks of pukey horror, but now I've gone and overdone it. Took DS to music class, grocery shopping, then clothes shopping and getting hospital bag ready. Boy, do I feel rubbish now. I think dinner is about to make a reappearance. It's almost like this sickness is saying "Don't get too cocky, now, and try to live a normal life. You WILL be punished with puking". SIGH

Sorry to hear about bad times, Louby and Coconuts. Gentle hugs to all. X

nitnatnaboo · 01/09/2011 08:54

Hi Louby and Mutha I can confirm that both stress and overdoing it will bring on the vom - it's not your imagination!

Hope the dinner stayed put Mutha. Awful when you've actually managed to think of something to eat, eat it and then it makes a "dramatic reappearance", as Lucinda says.

Good luck for the interview tomorrow Louby. If anyone gives you any trouble, just puke on their shoes. Grin

nitnatnaboo · 01/09/2011 08:56

Seapie what a shame re no "rarely cover". Hope you are not under pressure to return?
Fluffy how goes the non-HG vomming?
Shroedingers any let up from the vom?

fluffywhitekittens · 01/09/2011 13:33

Hi all, we seem to be over it now, crossed fingers.

Right do any of you live anywhere near a spirit health club? They have them in Holiday Inns, eg Birmingham, Leeds, Maidstone, Colchester, Bristol and others
If you do let me know ASAP as I have some pamper day vouchers but they're only valid until October 14 th and the one near me is booked up until November because I lost the damn things.
If anyone can get a booking at one near them then I can post you the vouchers.
The code is WIGI1 and it entitles you to a 30 min. Treatment, facial, manicure or pedicure and full use of facilities for the day. You can also take a friend for free but they don't get the treatment.
Hope some of you read this and it might be of use, don't want to waste them :(
I'll hive it a while and then I'm going to put the same message on the threadkillers chat and then the general site but thought of you lot first. As long as you're well enough :)

Xx

theonlyhb2 · 01/09/2011 13:38

just to say, you best get writing your lists of "foods I am going to inhale after pregnancy" on a toilet roll as that should be long enough......:)

deffo more fun smelling of baby sick and finding out you been out to tesco with baby sick all in yr hair (and your hair looks matted at the back....but who cares, I can't see the back!)

stress is the worst for HG, so everyone please try and rest! Be a normal person after birth and have all hospital staff look at you like a leper when you say "nope, deffo not be back in 2 years!"

i think i would like to have sex but very very terrified! So I shall pass for now (sorry OH!)

mummymccar · 01/09/2011 15:09

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so much worse Louby, hopefully things will start to improve again soon.

theonlyhb2 already started my 'foods to inhale' list. Had to transfer from the toilet roll to a word document because I ran out of room. Running at the length of a novella now.

Had a bit of a weird couple of weeks. Can't remember if I was experiencing or mentioned dizziness in my last post, but I've been having that very, very badly the last couple of weeks. Went to see my doctor and the bloods say that I'm anaemic. Apparently my level is 14 which is very, very low and need to take iron tablets for the next two months (that seems a long time, is that normal?) I think that has been making my sickness worse too so hopefully that'll improve with it. However, I've been very, very lucky this week and haven't vomited since friday last week! Still feeling nauseous and I don't think I can manage without the Cyclizine yet but I'm hoping that I could be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now. I'm not carrying my bucket around like a comfort blanket anymore so that is something at least.

In other news, started to feel the baby move this week and it is the most incredible feeling. Seems to only move when he or she can hear Celine Dion though...not sure what to make of that.

Hope all the ladies and babies are doing well.

lilyrose123 · 01/09/2011 17:44

Hi all
sorry for those suffering again :0(
i remember with my last pregnancy having HG, but not being given any treatment for it, it settled sometime around 16 weeks but came back in third trimester, I put it down to shift work, as a nurse i would rush my tea and go straight back onto the ward til 10pm without any rest, I did ask for less late shifts, but ended up just putting up with the crap they threw at me :0(

I have been off work sick this last week, went into work and burst into tears, staff were lovely, manager was crap and said maybe i shouldnt have come in work if i felt that unwell, as i had not helped with the staffing situation, tried to explain that i'm not anymore sick than normal but think i just ran out of energy to cope with it after so many weeks,
managed to complete the days work, but next day called in sick thought sod it!
so managed to still send DD to childcare and spent the time in bed.....its been bliss
i even managed a jacket potato the other night! yey!
but 16 weeks now and still feel really sick if im not lying down :0( still on stemetil
hoping for some light relief soon!

SchrodingersMew · 02/09/2011 10:46

Lucinda and NitNat Tbh, I probably have been dehydrated at times thinking about those symptoms. I ended up being sick another good few times since then, I think I must have a bug on top of everything. :(

Seen my Consultant on Wednesday and she has put me on Stemetil 3 times a day I'm also fully engaged and 1cm dilated and being induced in 2 weeks! :) Have been getting cramps a lot and I think that's one of the things that has made the sickness worse.

I hope everyone else is feeling a little better?

LucindaE · 02/09/2011 10:55

louby86 · 02/09/2011 17:21

Hello everyone!

I have spare ketosticks if anyone wants them PM me your address and I'll post them. The whole box is unopened!

Well my interview lasted 4 hours without a break and the notes were 29 pages long! Made it quite clear that I can't work with him and he needs to be moved out of the shop and if I can't go back to my shop it breaks the terms and conditions of my contract around returning to work after my maternity. Looking kind of hopeful, just got to wait it out now while he's on holiday and then comes back to be interviewed.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather picking up again!
