Any one found a 'realistic' caffeine free tea?

Stuggling without my tea fix as I've now got a mental craving for Coke now so my 2 mugs a day is reduced to one. All the caffeine ones seem to taste a bit funny :(

Has anyone found anything that comes close to the satisfying goodness which is a nice hot mug of tea but minus the caffeine obviously?

Thanks,

Another vote for Twinings Earl grey decaf. The best normal decaf tea I've found is Clipper from Waitrose. Nice flavour, almost tastes normal.

Dynababy · 05/06/2011 22:23

Punjana is the ONLY one that tastes nearly like real tea! I've tried them all! Can't beat a cuppa tea!

CandyS · 05/06/2011 22:30

PG tips decaff (normally on twinings everyday, their decaff is rank), so weak I leave the tea bag in for the entier cuppa.

theborrower · 05/06/2011 22:34

Tetley decaf! I could barely tell the difference (maybe just a bit weaker??)

choccyp1g · 05/06/2011 22:35

A third for Twinings Earl Grey decaff. But occasionally I get a pack that tastes of nothing at all.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 05/06/2011 22:38

Yorkshire decaf here, made strong with a dash of milk. Everything else tastes of nothing (not helped by the fact I have skimmed milk in mine Grin).

ShowOfHands · 05/06/2011 22:41

Yup Twinings Earl Grey decaff is lovely.

highheelsandequations · 05/06/2011 22:48

Another vote for twinings earl grey decaff :)

MrsGubbins as far as I know green tea contains caffeine - in fact probably just as much or more than regular tea?
I know some people substitute green tea for coffee to get a "kick" Confused

MrsGubbins · 06/06/2011 05:03

Beesok I did not know that!! will remember that for the future.. back on the real stuff now and 6 month old BF DD seems well... apart from her twitch.

Decaff is horrible :( I had no problem drinking it whilst TTC but since I actually got pregnant I can't stand the stuff, for some weird reason it just tastes like dishwater even when I stew the bag for 10 minutes. I have to allow myself one proper cup of tea first thing in the morning or I lose the will to go on.

In 9 weeks' time once the little chap has turned up, I am going to make myself a proper pot of leaf tea and drink the entire bloody thing myself. I am drooling at the thought Grin

LilRedWG · 06/06/2011 10:21

I like Tetley or Red Bush, which is naturally caffeine free.

hollyw · 06/06/2011 16:52

I like the Clipper decaff tea. It's not particularly strong though.

MissMilliment · 06/06/2011 17:00

Tried a few and I eventually found Yorkshire decaf to be my 'favourite' (if the best of a bad bunch can be described that way) Thought they were all pretty rank, but I stuck with it and now actually like Yorkshire decaf and still drink it sometimes though I'm not pregnant or bf any more.

CollieandPup · 06/06/2011 17:16

I drink Clipper Organic Decaf. I used to drink a variety of other decaf brands and found a lot of them tasted funny. These don't at all - probably beacuse they are not full of the chemicals that the others use to make them decaf - which obv means they are better for you and bump too! They are a bit pricer than others at £2.50 (ish) for 40 bags, but well worth it. You get get them in most supermarkets and in Holland and Barrett

firsttimer84 · 06/06/2011 17:59

This thread has reminded me of the new aldi/lidl advert. Have you seen it? "I dont like tea.... I like gin!" Hilarious. PS i can't find a nice decaff either..

FreakoidOrganisoid · 06/06/2011 18:05

Yorkshire here, but one cup of normal a day wouldn't do any harm anyway

myname321 · 06/03/2014 20:36

Shock, horror! The best decaff tea I've found so far is Tesco own brand teabags. Further amazement with decaff coffee - the Tesco own brand ground coffee is also 'best' unlike their instant decaff coffee, for which I'm still searching an acceptable product.

mrsmugoo · 06/03/2014 20:53

I've just been drinking normal tea, 3 or 4 cups a day. That's within the caffeine guidelines.

Mummytobe2014 · 06/03/2014 20:58

PG tips decaf for me, didnt notice any difference Smile

KatoPotato · 06/03/2014 21:01

Typhoo decaf. Trust me it's the best!

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/03/2014 22:00

Decaff coffee I like, decaff tea is Satan's own drool.

Another vote for rooibos, I like the plain and the vanilla ones best. I've also got some caffeine-free chai which is nice on occasion.

I've also cut out my old diet coke habit and replaced it with elderflower cordial - paying real money for caffeine-free sugar-free coke (i.e. fizzy brown water) began to grate!

Pudtat · 06/03/2014 22:23

Tetley was the best I found. All the others a bit weak and chemically.

RubyGoat · 06/03/2014 22:51

Twinings Everyday decaff, if the shop has any. Otherwise, PG Tips decaff.

EyelinerQueen · 06/03/2014 22:55

9 months without a proper brew??

No fecking chance. All decaff tastes like rat's pish.

I've been having my usual 3 cups of Yorkshire Gold a day and will continue to do so!
