Little story for you ...
My DS has always had a little charming streak. In the past he has been known to say things like, "Oh, you look pretty Mummy" and "That's a pretty dress Mummy" and so on ... all unprompted and all of it has made my heart melt.
Since I got pregnant I have had some corkers, for example, "Oh Mummy, your boobies are all fat!" (loudly in the supermarket!)
But this morning's one was the best yet ...
I was getting dressed in my bedroom and DS came in while I was climbing into my new purchase (a denim maternity skirt, that I had thought was rather trendy). He stopped in his tracks and said, "Oooh, Mummy!" ... I smiled at him and waited for the usual nice compliment .... but then he continued, "What are you dressing up as?"

My son thinks I am a circus act obviously

LOL Ghosty - little angels aren't they?
Dd asked me if I she was in my mouth when she was a baby - otherwise how could she have got in my tummy?! She is also adamant that it was NOT daddy who put current baby in my tummy but the doctor!

WSM · 02/10/2003 09:14

ROFL Pie !!!!

sprout · 02/10/2003 10:18

DD saw my sticking-out tummy button last night (I'm 34wks pg) and said: "look, there's my baby sister's nose".

Northerner · 02/10/2003 10:23

My friends ds (3) to my 28 week pregnant friend:

ds: So who is going to be baby's Mummy?
Mummy: I'm the baby's Mummy
ds: No, your MY Mummy
Mummy: Yes, I'm your mummy and the new baby's Mummy
ds: Lets give new baby to Mrs Wilkinson (nursery teacher)she's not a Mummy. You can't be a Mummy twice that's greedy.

susanmt · 02/10/2003 10:32

Dd told one of her nursery teachers that Mummy is having a new baby at Christmas-time. Teacher replied, 'Oh, that's nice, is Santa going to bring the baby?'
'Don't be silly' said dd 'the baby is in Mummy's tummy alreadt, Daddy put it there'

Expert on the facts of life at 3yrs8months. We dont know who told her, cause it wasn't us!

This is making me broody, its soooo sweet (am i mad)

moosh · 02/10/2003 11:38

My ds 3yr 8 months used to want a brother and a sister, now he is going through his "Don't like girls stage" so he only wants a brother now.
Since being pg he has said alot of things, most I really cannot remember, but I do remember getting dressed the other week and he said "mummy, look at your fat boobs!" and he really was laughing! I then replied, "I know mate, because of the baby, mummy's boobs are filling up with milk to feed the baby" to which he replied, "Me and daddy don't drink that milk do we!!!!, we get ours from Asda" looking really horrified.

sunchowder · 02/10/2003 16:49

These are wonderful! Why don't we put together a book to pay for Mumsnet expenses?

BIBIBOO · 17/05/2004 17:32

My cousin (who is 3 yrs 11 months) knows I have a baby in my tummy like her mummy does and that her mummy's baby is coming first. I took her to the toilet the other day in a restaurant and she asked if she could listen to my tummy to see if she could hear the baby crying (aaaaaawwww!) so I obliged.

With a look of pure horror on her face as I lowered my waistband, she asked me why had the baby scratched all over my tummy and left big red marks? Obviously, her mummy doesn't have stretchmarks. Now she thinks my baby is pure evil

dejags · 17/05/2004 18:24

My DS (3) knows about b/feeding because he has seen lots of friends etc feeding their little ones.

He recently proudly announced that he knows all about milk. He proceeded to tell us all about how cows are milked by the farmer, that their milk is collected and then taken to the shops in a truck. He walked away for a minute with a thoughtful expression on his face - he came back and asked "how does milk get out of mummy's boobies, into the truck and to the shops"...

SpringChicken · 17/05/2004 18:24

Ahh bless

My nephew aged 4 and a half was asking me a few weeks ago what we planned to call our baby etc - during the conversation he suddenly developed a very serious look on his face.

DN: Auntie Jem, is the baby reaallllyy in your tummy?
Me: Yes mate it is
DN: So the baby has got to come out of your tummy then?
Me: It certainly does
DN: What do you do then? Do you burp?
Me: suddenly trying to think of how to get round this one
DN: Yep, that's what you do - you do a big burp and the baby will come out.

Bless them - kids are so cute

webmum · 17/05/2004 19:13

when we told dd I have a baby in my tummy the first thing she asked was how was it called!

Then she put her ear on my stomach to heat the heartbeat as we've telling her about it. She was so cute!!!

karen01 · 17/05/2004 20:04

my DD (7.5yr old) had her head leaning on my tummy (34weeks pg) and my stomach grumbled she shot up and said "Ughh, the baby has just farted on my head" It made me laugh. She is also obsessed with asking pg people (freinds) if they are allowed to "push baby out" or are they having a "sunroof delivery" Bless

eidsvold · 18/05/2004 01:00

aww these are soo cute as opposed to ( incredibly short sighted without glasses) dh who said to me this morning - Wow you are getting a belly - I can see it without my glasses on ... toad - I am only 15 weeks - okay so I still got a little from the last one.... no need to be so RUDE

webmum · 18/05/2004 12:36

I had forgotten about this, dd also said, when we told I had a baby in my tummy, she went, 'its not me, I come out!'

because obviously we always talka bout when she was in my tummy!

Tommy · 18/05/2004 12:52

LOL dejags - that's how I felt!!

BIBIBOO · 30/05/2004 13:02

Apparently I wee a lot because the baby kicks it out of me!
