DizzyKipper · 26/05/2011 14:13

Hi all, got my first BFP on Sat, got another on Tues, but it was only yesterday with a FR response that I actually believed it (kept thinking it was an evaporation line - even burst out crying after the second test because I was so upset thinking it was a BFN lol).

I'm due 30th, got my first doc. appointment for next Wednesday. I'm 4 weeks at the moment and we're moving in a month, I'm hoping the doctor will be ok with an 8 week scan because it seems registering at a new surgery and trying to sort out scans after I move will be troublesome and mean I get my scans a lot later.

And yes alittlebitpregnant it does feel a bit weird, I thought once I knew I was pregnant there would be this switch and somehow I'd feel really different, but I feel completely the same. May look back at this time fondly in a few weeks time when morning sickness etc. starts to kick in lol

ladybird33 · 26/05/2011 20:09

Hi everyone, it is lovely to read all your messages. Congratulations to you all!! I am due with my 2nd on 23rd jan - found out a week ago and time is going SOOOOOOO slowly. I am really nervous as I had 2 miscarriages in the last year, so that's not helping my nerves and I am just desperate to get to 12 weeks asap. I'm trying to take one day at a time and keep prodding my boobs to check they're still sore!!! I am going to try to go for an early scan next week for a bit of reassurance - there is an amazing place near us where you can walk in and be scanned if you are feeling anxious or have any dodgy symptoms - I don't know how I waited so long last time. Anyway, something happened the other day which I thought was a bit bizarre - my 3 year old has a calendar in the kitchen where he sticks on bits of velcro with the day, date, month, season, weather etc and he changes it every day. He normally never messes around with it, but just changes it once a day. Last week for the first time ever he took everything off, then I turned round and he had put up Monday, 23, January, Winter, Raining - my exact due date - even the day of the week is correct!! Then he took it all off and went to play with something else. I hadn't told anyone my due date - not even DH! Seemed a bit of a coincidence thats all and am really hoping it's a good omen!!! What do you think!

Curlygirl72 · 26/05/2011 21:30

Hey ladies! Ttc for 2 years, just got on ivf waiting list and now am naturally preg (5 weeks) 1 month before my wedding!! V happy but also feels theoretical still as I'd given up hope, also don't want to get too excited in case anything bad happens... Any suggestions on how to approach my hen parties and wedding when not drinking?? Not sure whether to just tell everyone and be done with it.

whenwill · 26/05/2011 22:09

me too! was reading the thread thinking it was a little pregnant persons club nothing really to do with me then realised I was in it! first one due 25th jan.

Went for doctor for test 'cos i knew i was and thought 'why buy a test' but they don't do tests anymore. obviously out of touch. Also been exposed to wild fire and a lot of bbq smoke post implantation and have been bit worried about this.

ladybird-spooky about calendar.

DizzyKipper · 27/05/2011 06:58

Congratulations, it's so exciting isn't it? Grin Is this everyone's first, second, third etc.? This will be my first.

ladybird that sounds very handy with the scans, I wish they did that near me. And that's very odd with your son, definitely would have to take that as a good omen (and be prepared for rain on the day Wink)

Curlygirl one suggestion for your hen-do is to do something different for it, like maybe a pampering session at a spa or something you would really love to do but never get the opportunity to do? The wedding will be a bit more tricky as just about everyone is going to want to buy you a drink, and if you don't want to let them know it would be tough finding a reason to explain you're not drinking (you could try walking around with a glass in your hand all evening and hope no one notices you haven't drunk it).

ladybird33 · 27/05/2011 08:47

Wow that was my first post on mumsnet (although have been avidly reading threads when ttc) and is so great to log on and have replies! It is especially good as I have decided not to tell anyone except DH this time round so it feels amazing to be able to tell people I am pregnant and share the excitement! Congratulations to Curlygirl and whenwill!!

whenwill do not stress out about the exposure to smoke, from everything I have read online, in the first few weeks that kind of thing has no effect on the embryo - so many people don't even find out they're pregnant til 6 or 7 weeks and have been smoking and drinking the whole time and the doctors just say don't worry about it... It seems it's later on in pregnancy that things have more of an effect but obviously best to avoid exposure to that kind of thing if possible from now on for your own peace of mind!

Curlygirl I definitely ended up walking round with a full glass for my whole wedding reception and never got the chance to drink it and I wasn't even pregnant - everyone wants to talk to you so you don't get a chance to drink (very unlike me!). Spa idea sounds great for a hen weekend!

Curlygirl72 · 27/05/2011 22:29

Thanks for the hen and wedding day ideas! I'm actually doing a spa day for the hen, but with dinner and drinks afterwards... I actually think I'm going to tell the girls; reckon I would tell them anyway if anything bad happened (I can't even type the word!) and would like to share my joy with them rather than spending the whole day and evening bottling it up. I'm rubbish at keeping my own secrets! Wedding is a bit different cos obvs a lot more people there and not all are as close, but I think I'll do as you suggest Kippper and Ladybird; and just wander around with a half full glass all day...
Starting to feel a bit more preg today, it's getting more and more real although I'm still not totally convinced I'm actually HAVING A BABY!!! First time for me, so relieved to get myself knocked up before I turn 40 next year!! Jeez, that's almost as scary...

kelli10 · 28/05/2011 09:14

Wow! I didn't really think there would be so many of us already on here when we're so early on! I thought I was going a bit mad even reading the various comments.

I really didn't believe it when the first test was positive. We hadn't really been trying and I've only just had an op (8 weeks ago) to treat some pretty aggressive endomitriosis and ovarian cysts. After the 5th test I thinK I might be convinced. I couldn't be happier!!

Really funny to hear about the breast touching - me too! I found myself checking at work to make sure they were still hurting. Just hoping no one was watching...

When does the fear go away second and third time mums? Please say soon. I really want to enjoy every minute but I cant help but think something could go wrong at any moment.

Got my first midwife appt on June 15th so hoping to get conformaation of my dd. It looks like being Jan 28th.

angeljefferson · 28/05/2011 09:44

Hi everyone! I'm approx 6 weeks and found out 2 weeks ago with very strong positive result! We think my due date is around 22nd Jan, but my midwife appointment isnt until 8 weeks!! Im 37, this is my 3rd pregancy, I have a 13 year old and had a miscariage in feburary this year, so I havent done too badly for an 'older' mum, falling preganant twice in 5 months!....obviously very fertile since daughter no 1 was concieved on the pill, pregnancy no 2 after 2 weeks of not taking the pill, and pregnancy no 3 after 2 cycles!!!

we arent sure if I'm further along, I had very strong positive lines a week before my period was due, with the 'positive' line coming up before the test line in less than 10 seconds!! and I did several just to check!!! Tthe clear blue monitor said 2-3 weeks, 1 week before my period was due, and it was night time wee!!

I'm a natural size 6, but I have a very swollen belly, which we call 'bumpster', I've got a feeling I'm going to be huge, since my other half is 6 ft 7!! and I'm still eating my normal diet! The best thing is my growing boobs....woooohooooo boobs at last! I love being pregnant! and the nausea kicked in big time last week....I came the closest so far, last night, to being sick!

We told all our parents together last night, they were all meeting for the first time, as my dad lives in spain......so we had a family gathering and announced it....it was great telling all the parents together! and DD is over the moon to be getting a brother or sister.....although we are now starting to wonder if there is 2 in there because of my quickly growing tummy and very positive tests so early on!

Congratulations everyone!!!

ladybird33 · 28/05/2011 11:21

curlygirl72 lol at getting "knocked up before I turn 40" Grin

Congrats angeljefferson I was reading your post thinking wow it really sounds like she's having twins - amazing how quick your test result was and really early symptoms - let us know when you find out!!!

kelli10 I completely understand the worrying about everything being ok, I am exactly the same and just trying to take it 1 day at a time. I am always pleased when I have pregnancy symptoms as it makes me think everything is working as it should, so it is good your boobs are sore! I think when you have your first scan you will finally be able to relax - I know it seems ages away!

There is a good book I have been reading called The Best Friend's Guide to Pregnancy (by Vicki Iovine) - I can really recommend it to anyone on this thread, especially first time mums. It deals with all the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy in a really funny way (at least I think so!) Good to have some lighthearted relief and advice I thought!

Jellyboobs · 30/05/2011 16:36

alittlebitpregnant totally! Got pregnant pretty much straight away so should feel very smug, and all the rest, but it does seem a bit unreal! People we've told have been over the moon, I feel like I should be squealing and giggling a bit more but am not! OH was crying about being a dad (after a few ales I must add) and I feel, honestly, like a bit of a cold fish.
Anyway, I'm hoping this will change when I start to see the midwife, I have to wait til after 10 weeks to book in at my GP's as they have a clinic there every monday, all the care is midwife led rather than through my GP. EDD 29th January.

Gosh that covered a lot of subjects...congratulations everyone!
xxx

kelli10 · 31/05/2011 07:33

Thanks ladybird! I'll have to have alook for that. Glad to hear it's not just me who is worrying... But 12 weeks seems like a lifetime away!

Good luck all.

Mum2be79 · 31/05/2011 21:03

Jellyboobs

All the best people are born on 29th January!!! Lol! (And of course the 6th January which is when our little peanut is due).

No guesses as to when MY birthday is!

My pregnancy symptoms have subsided/canged the last 2 days. Little nausea, no cramps but have terrible mood swings, some tiredness/weariness and heavy boobs when the bra comes off. Anyone else????

I'm 8 weeks and 4 days.

sassylassie · 01/06/2011 19:16

Wow, I'm new to mumsnet and it's great to find this thread! I can totally relate to it all feeling a bit unreal/theoretical at the moment. I just had my BFP about 10 days ago while we were on holiday. I looked at it and it came up so quickly (like angeljefferson) I somehow read it as negative and then did a bit of a double take as my brain slowly computed that a + meant positive (I know, silly or what!) I even did another test the next day just to be sure and deliberately got one that said the word 'Pregnant' so I couldn't make a mistake. I calculated I should be due around 25-28 Jan but my cycles are really irregular so it's hard to say.

Now I feel like I'm in limbo though. It's really frustrating that I can't get an appointment to see a midwife until I'm 8-10 weeks (I'm about 5-6 weeks now), and I just have to wait for them to send me a date through the post. And my scan date won't be until 11-14 weeks. I rang my surgery last week and the earliest doctor's appointment they could offer me was 16th June, so I sort of felt like nobody's interested. I really think you should be able to see a midwife for at least a very quick appointment as soon as you get the BFP just so they can answer any questions and advise you on folic acid, foods to avoid etc etc. Sounds like some people on here have got really quick appointments, while others have to wait ages like me...

I also got a bit superstitious today when I was taking the dog out for a walk and I saw a solitary magpie, and I remembered the rhyme my grandma used to tell me about magpies "One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy." I'm never normally superstitious, but I just got convinced that I'm going to have a miscarriage or something will go wrong. I'm 38, only got married last September, and this is my first pregnancy (we've just been TTC for the last 7 months) so I guess it's just first timer nerves?

It was really hard keeping it from the rest of the family for a whole week while we were away too. We'd just bought loads of beer and suddenly I didn't want to join them in drinking any of it and had to keep making excuses! I'm also a bit of a coffee fiend, so I was pretending to drink coffee - even going so far as to brew up a couple of times and then throwing it down the sink when no-one was looking (!), as I was paranoid someone would guess as everyone knows we were TTC.

Phew, apols for the long first post!

Mum2be79 · 01/06/2011 20:49

sassylassie I was lucky. My pregnancy was confirmed by my doctor.

I went on holiday (Caribbean cruise) during the Easter holidays and I was due my period on the Bank Holiday Monday. I was convinced I would get it and not be pregnant so asked for a pill to stop my period. The nurse who gave me it said to take a pregnancy test three days before my period was due, but the pill wouldn't do any harm if I did fall pregnant. So on Good Friday I took the test and whereas my bleary eyes thought it was about to say positive with two pink lines, it actually read as negative so I took the pill to stop my period. I went on hikes, river tubing, snorkelling etc, etc (no alcohol though funnily enough) and stopped taking it the day before the Royal Wedding. My period would then start 2 or 3 days later. On the day of the Royal Wedding whilst in Aruba, I was sick. Didn't think much of it. But when I returned to the UK on the May Day Monday, no period and I had awful swelling in my legs. The next day I was sent to A&E by my nurse who suspected DVT.That Friday (6th) still no period and as I needed a sick note until my Doppler scan, I thought I'd mention it. The doctor asked if there was a chance I could be pregnant, and despite me telling him I had a negative test on holiday, he did one anyways and to my surprise it was positive!!

Now I'm 8 weeks and 5 days. My pregnancy symptoms come in waves (almost like hormone surges) and tend to be more prevalent on Wednesdays!?! One thing that has NEVER really subsided, but was the worst it has ever been is my sore boobs. 10 ton weights sliding off my chest every night I turn over in bed!

I'm 32, got married in August last year (Friday 13th!!!) and this is my first pregnancy too!

Moobee · 02/06/2011 11:40

I'm 8 weeks 4 days today. I'd felt a little nausea up until about 8 weeks when full on sickness and nausea started. I thought it would hit in week 6 if it all, I was feeling smug that I'd avoided it. Bleurgh, feel terrible. :(

supadupapupascupa · 02/06/2011 13:44

Partypopper · 02/06/2011 15:24

Hello everyone- can I join too? 7 weeks today DD 19 Jan. Baby #1
Dipping a toe in because of a pretty bad mc earlier this year. Have already had a scare and a super early scan (too early to see anything except it's in the right place! phew at least on that front!), and am going for another next Tuesday. Keeping positive though!
We haven't told anyone yet so really nice to share on here and be nervous with others in the same boat.
ladybird - glad I'm not the only one prodding myself to double check! The madness.. Actually, not too bad on the symptoms- have on and off 'hungover' queasy feeling not helped by the man who sits next to me at work making disgusting snorting noises. Euw. Usually just annoying, but he'll be sorry when I barf on his keyboard..

Trace100 · 02/06/2011 19:30

Sad news for me I am afraid. Started with cramps on Monday night so went to A&E, scan on Tuesday afternoon could not find signs of life, miscarried on Tues night.

Hopefully you will see me again on a "June due date" thread...

Bright blessings to everyone, enjoy every single second and take care of your precious cargo...

UtterlyMonkey · 02/06/2011 22:13

Hello Januarians! Am 8wks today, felling super bloated, constipated and a wee bit gaggy. Just told my v best friends tonight, and everyone's really excited. I feel a lot better that the girls know. At least thats lightened the load a bit :-)

Moobee · 03/06/2011 07:51

Trace100 I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you're ok. Fingers crossed for a due in June.

Hello new people! Congratulations! was right, the antenatal thread she linked to is much busier.

Trace100 · 03/06/2011 09:14

Thanks Moobee. I am fine and will cope knowing I get another chance.

Linda40 · 03/06/2011 16:43

Hi everyone, Im 9 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. Already had scan last week as I had MC in Feb and Jan 2010. All was well, baby like a bean but a nice heart beat. Im having my booking in appointment next week. Im due around the 7th Jan, fingers crossed.

Tinks30 · 03/06/2011 18:08

Hi, I'm due 16th Jan. GP referred me pretty quickly and my MW was in touch just last week. Already had all my blood tests and scan booked for 7th July. Really ill, sore boobs, and painful stitch, massively tired but super happy!!!!

GerriM · 03/06/2011 21:11

Hey,

I'm due on 18/01/2011 - baby number 2, tried for this one, however only came off the pill 8 weeks ago and now 7 weeks pregnant.....was not expecting it to happen so fast! I've spent all day today stressing out as I saw the tinniest speck of blood today and now have a pain lower left side of my tummy! I don't have midwife appointment until Wed (8th June) and cant wait for my scan dates so I can rest knowing if the bump is ok. Even though this is my second (i'm 31) I found it really hard telling my mum, as she looks after my 2 year old 2 days a week - She is very excited though. Told my boss in work and was overheard by the office gossip so now everyone knows so I really hope the spotting/tummy pain come to nothing.

alittlebitpregnant - I had my first aged 28 and was in total denial about being pregnant until he was about 6 weeks old!! I never got my head round it, but it made pregnancy a lot less stressful as I simply could not believe it! Make the most of the next 9 months and be yourself, because come Jan you will not know whats hit you!

Hope everyone is feeling as well as can be expected what with all the constipation/diorreah/cramps/sickness etc. The joys of pregnancy :)
