awww they are lovely

colditz · 09/11/2005 22:31

I want Evie if my baby is a girl.

Gobbledigook · 09/11/2005 22:32

Not keen on girls names it's the 'ee' sound at the end I don't like.

Like James (I've got one!)

I'm having dd2 in Jan/Feb and Evie is the front runner at the moment - even thinking Evie Rose trying to think of middle names.

When are you due, Me and another mner have had Grace's in Oct 04.

Really like the dd/ds names.

Good taste!

Hulababy · 09/11/2005 22:35

I like them both

hamster · 09/11/2005 22:39

I think that Alfie is ok, I'd just want something a little different as Alfie is a VERY popular name

charliecat · 09/11/2005 22:42

I like them both.

QueenEagle · 09/11/2005 22:46

I too have a James, so yes I like it a lot!

Actually I like both the names you mentioned.

Janh · 09/11/2005 22:50

I prefer to give them a Sunday name and then call them by the short version - gives them scope to stand on their dignity later (and they can tell they're in trouble if you call them it too!).

dyzzidi · 10/11/2005 10:03

I like Alfie as my dear nephew aged 20 months is called Alfie Thomas. It really suits him.

I like Evie myself 33wks Pg with a girl but it doesn't really go with my surname

oliveoil · 10/11/2005 10:05

There are 3 Evie's and an Eve at dd1's playgroup, so be warned it is popular.

I prefer the middle names to be honest, I like classic names.

dropinthe · 10/11/2005 10:06

Sorry-love Evie-hate Alfie-do you not think that to call him after an Eastenders character is a tad chavvy? He would be one of many Alfie's in his year and would not be a unique person!
Sorry for being blunt!

As I said though-Evie is a really pretty name-on its own-not double barrelled though!

flamesparrow · 10/11/2005 10:07

I like Evie too - DH will be a no for that one as well though

edodgy · 10/11/2005 10:17

I like Eve rather than Evie but i'm biased as that's my dd's name, tend to think evie sounds a bit like a scullery maid..sorry!

joec · 10/11/2005 10:22

have also got an eve and love the name , she gets evie aswell depending on how good she is being!!!!!!

Chloe55 · 10/11/2005 11:04

Like them both and they were both on my list, I like Ava more than Evie though, love Rose - shame I'm having a boy!

Mandymoo · 10/11/2005 19:25

i was worried about the Eastenders connection with Alfie and agree that it can sound a bit chavvy but i just cannot think of another name i like.

Evie would not be double barrelled - Rose would simply be her middle name.

I like them both.

Evie is on our list for a girl.

Enid · 10/11/2005 19:28

I like Eve very much

WigWamBam · 10/11/2005 19:31

I like Evie Rose - I'm biased about the Rose bit though because that's dd's middle name!

I quite like James, not keen on Alfie though.

Mandymoo · 10/11/2005 19:31

OK - we have a one syllabull (sp?) surname which is a boy's name in itself iyswim - any ideas for biys' names cos i cannot think of any!!!!

harpsichordcarrier · 10/11/2005 19:33

I like Evie but it is very popular yes. I prefer Eve or Eva or Evelyn.
Alfie is VERY VERY popular and personally I wouldn't give a child a pre-shortened name. I think it is a little undignified - what if he wants to be a brain surgeon or a high court judge. and also I would be always singing what's it all about Alfie? NOT a good role model for a boy.
IMHO
