Hey,

I'm suffering through first trimester misery so thought I'd start a light-hearted thread to cheer myself, and any of the rest of you who are suffering, up.

DH, when reading the Mumsnet pregnancy book said "It says here that the baby slithers out - that doesn't sound too bad." Confused

When reading 'What to expect when she's expecting' he said "It says that being anxious will make your sickness worse. Well that's easy - just stop worrying."

I also found him browsing 'geek' baby grows on the internet Smile

Does anyone else have any moments that have made you giggle so far?

My dh is dreaming of baby becoming first member of his "band" so he keeps singing bass lines to the bump and explaining the blues scale. Always makes me giggle.

NoodieRoodie · 15/04/2011 17:07

my dh has also been looking at "geek" babygrows and maternity t-shirts.

we had the 1st scan on Monday and he was amazed that it looked like a baby, not sure what he was expecting!!

nannyl · 15/04/2011 17:23

My OH told me i was sick because I had read about it..... and if i didnt know i was pg i would have been fine.
Didnt go down too well given i had HG and had only been out of hospital 48 hours
Oh and when i was sick next (just aafter he got in from work) it was just to show him i was sick Hmm

didnt go down too well!

Great thread.

So far DH has been patting himself on the back for such good work given we concieved on the first go. He is feeling very virile.

Other than that he is insiting I measure the pregancy in weeks from conception not last period as it confuses him "but we only DTD 5 weeks ago"

pinkgirlythoughts · 15/04/2011 18:17

Telling me to stop drinking diet coke, as apparently it has acid in it that will harm the baby Hmm.

Looking mightily proud when I complain that it feels as though Bump is kicking in two directions at the same time, saying "that's my little gymnast, doing the splits! I can't wait to take him down to the gym!" (DP is a gymnastics coach)

JBrd · 15/04/2011 18:18

My friend's husband suggested she could exercise more to stop her bump from growing any bigger...Hmm. Yeah, right.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 15/04/2011 18:19

Only got BFP positive yesterday and on the first month of trying to. DP said he must have super sperm with a big Grin

Pootletrinket · 15/04/2011 18:48

Ernie, my DH was the same first time around until he realised my libido disappeared - second time, it took a year of TTC, think he was more satisfied!!!

mumatron · 15/04/2011 18:53

dp decided i wasn't allowed to use any cleaning product or have any baths. Hmm

soon told him to get lost.

he also asked if they used filtered water for water births Confused

yes, my dp is an idiot Grin

ShazGJ · 15/04/2011 19:08

My DH was most proud in the first trimester when he farted and the smell made me sick Shock.

Chocolocolate · 15/04/2011 19:29

Lol at these.

You've reminded me of another. When we got the BFP DH was so pleased with himself that he referred to himself as The Sperminator!

hubby is rather too enthusiastic about baby clothes and i have to pull him away at times. he is also doing the housework a bit less reluctantly.

G1nger · 15/04/2011 19:39

My partner's taking the whole "baby wants you to go to the shop and buy me some X", or "I agree with you, and baby does too" with good humour. I'm not very far along yet (well, 17 weeks tomorrow) and I think he'll get more enthusiastic (read: confident) about everything after we get the okay from the second scan. We're both such natural worriers otherwise. But I know he's secretly chuffed to bits, so I think I'll have plenty of fun yet to come.

stegasaurus · 15/04/2011 19:50

DH told me the other day that he thought contractions didn't hurt Hmm
He has been to antenatal class with me but still apparently thought the only bit of labour that hurt is the pushing! He is also in for a shock as he refuses to believe we won't get much if any sleep for the first few weeks. He says 'but babies sleep most of time.' He isn't usually so stupid so I don't know where he got these ideas from. Apart from these crazy ideas he has been great at putting up with me throughout the pregnancy and I think he will make a great dad in a few weeks.

danio7 · 15/04/2011 21:18

myself and my DH were watching 'one born every minute'. On the back of the Delivery room door there was a sign that said 'remember, mum and baby skin on skin'
DH asked what that meant so I explained that it is the best for bonding immediately after birth. He then decided that he thought it would be a good idea to organise a hospital bed next to mine when I go into labour. He would then lay with his top off when it came to the baby coming out the midwife would be able to remove little bubba from me and lay it on his chest so he could 'bond'!
the mental image is just something else... I cant say he isnt enthusiastic!!

:o

21+1

G1nger · 15/04/2011 21:54

Danio - you're getting my prize for that one!

fluffles · 15/04/2011 22:00

friend of mine was in intensive care after the birth and her DH did the skin-to-skin with their LO... very sweet.. (all are fine now).

CapsizeQueen · 15/04/2011 22:06

My DP says there'll be plenty of time to finish decorating the babies room when he is off on paternity leave..... ha ha ha...

  • after all it will be in with us at first so why am I fretting?

Hmmm I'm thinking sleep will be a higher priority in those 2 weeks....

CapsizeQueen · 15/04/2011 22:06

Gah! baby's room

danio7 · 15/04/2011 22:07

G1nger- Just imagine living with that man!! I feel for the bean, it didnt ask to be brought into this family!! :o

Lynzilove · 15/04/2011 22:22

When I told oh he should speak to baby, he insisted on shouting up my floozy to 'make sure he could hear him'!!

My dh came home excitedly recently to tell me that Neil Diamond was performing at the O2 on 9th July and he was going to get us tickets (I am a big Neil fan by the way). I pointed out that my EDD is 7th of July and he said "oh right, yeah, it may be difficult to get a babysitter". :)

Beesok · 16/04/2011 07:04

MissLolita your EDD is my birthday :)

My husband laughs at all the quirky facts I read to him about babies/fetuses. He was soooo hapy at the 12 wk scan and found it hilarious that the little bug just kept turning and kicking every time the dr tried to measure him/her!

When we found out I'm pregnant he immediately googled the baby's horoscope, chinese horoscope etc

He suggested we take pics of bump every week to keep as a memory

At our early scan the printer didn't work and he was SO disappointed - the dr allowed him to take a few pics with his phone, which came out great and he emailed them to his mum as a surprise announcement ;)

More to follow when baby starts kicking :)

JenniL1977 · 16/04/2011 07:19

Has anyone seen the episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets so fat all he can wear is a big flowery dress?
I keep getting pictures of size 48 dresses emailed to me at work so "I know I can stay stylish even when I'm big and fat"
The fucker :)
