Any old duffers currently active I've seen the old posts and feeling very mixed up at moment. Found this week I am pregnant for the first time at this time in my life and faced with a lot of questions, opinions and health issues. I spent the first day laughing at the news but I know this is serious.

I know girls who've had babies in their early 40s and they faced a mountain of negative medical advice and they were planning kids. I genuinely thought this was the menopause!

OH THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD.

Thank you SO much you have given me such hope that it can happen.

Im nearly 41 and desperate for a baby, so thanks xxxx

adelle, your post has given me hope! which sounds a bit selfish as I've been single since ex-dh betrayed us a few years ago. I mourned the fact I'd never meet anyone else, never have any more babies etc. etc. Like I said complete selfish but it has left me with a dark hole inside.

But this is lovely, so exciting!!! My dad was 50 when I was born, my mum was 39 (in 1971) this was ancient for motherhood. My Granny was 45 when she had her last and that was in the Forties. It can be done :)

So sorry to hear the news Adalle! Best of luck if you decide to try again.

Thanks everyone for you kind wishes and thoughts. Hugs to all.

Has been a big rollercoaster last few weeks but I wouldn't change it totally believe in taking life as it comes.

As for encouraging mature mums no probs. I know 2 mums one had many mcs all through her 30s and she was devastated then bing bang bosh she had 3 DSs in her 40s one after the other. I didn't envy her having 3 toddlers as if by magic but the parents were so happy. Another mum had a decade of fertility treatment to no avail the couple gave up and accepted defeat then bing bang bosh 2 DDs in her 40s so the tales of just relax may be true! A friend told me her SIL had a surprise pg in her 40s when she was a mounted police officer and totally concentrating on her career. Life throws these curve balls so positive vibes to everyone hoping, planning or dreaming of sprogdom!

Who knows what my future holds . . . . . . Wink x
