Hi All

Just back from having my sweep. Ouch!!!! My midwife said her sweeps are successful and I can honestly say after that little examination, I don't doubt her. My cervix is posterior and I am not effaced. If this doesn't work, I'm booked in for an induction on Friday morning at 11am, when I am 11 days overdue.

Fingers crossed it will happen before then.

Shelbee · 28/03/2011 11:54

Hi all,

Can I join? I'm now 41 weeks and so fed up! I really, really believed I would be early (who knows why - it's my first) and so still being here now is such a shock. I am also avoiding calls, messages and seeing anyone - I can't bear that other people sound cross that I haven't had the baby yet - why is anyone else exasperated? They aren't the ones carrying an over-cooked baby around!!

More annoying is my mother in law and sister in law constantly asking if there is any news - do they not think they would be one of the first to know? What are they expecting? For me to respond, "oh my goodness, didn't he call you? We had it on Saturday - we're home now - do you want to come round tomorrow?".

Ooooh, feel much better after that rant. I have absolutely loved being pregnant and am usually such a calm, nice person - I dont like the person I have become in the last week!!

Good luck to everyone - hope you start with twinges soon!

Nipple stimulation ladies ... Cuddling my newborn as we speak. Either get the breastpump out or twiddle manually

YogaMummy2B · 28/03/2011 17:49

Hi Irish, please give details! I have been trying nipple stimulation. 15 mins at a time and still no movement!

YogaMummy2B · 28/03/2011 23:49

Oh girls, I thought I was away again today. Had tightening across my tummy and back and groin ache for about 3 hours but all seems to have gone quiet again!
Managed to persuade DH to 'tango' with me in the bedroom, so perhaps just wishful thinking!!
Off to ingest and insert a bottle of EPO and tweak my nipples until they fall off!!
Anyone else got some news?

clarkland · 29/03/2011 10:04

None from me!!! Sweep at 11.40 this am.
Good luck all.x

Mads76 · 29/03/2011 11:08

Absolutely diddley squat happening for me today. I had hoped my sweep yesterday would have worked and last night I had some slight stitch like pains in my sides and bump, but now nothing. How frustrating.... Grrrrrrr.

I can think it is safe to my induction will go ahead on Friday and baby will be born on Sunday. Boooooo.

Clarkland, good luck with your sweep today. Is this your first one and how many days over are you?

Any news Oggybags?

ThisIsYourSong · 29/03/2011 11:59

Petalouda how did you get on at the m/w?

I've thrown everything at it today, been for a long walk (albeit a fairly gentle one as was with my mum), eaten half a pineapple, taken EPO (both ways Hmm ), drunk four cups of raspberry leaf tea and done the deed!

I know that none of these are likely to help but I feel a bit manic TBH. Anyway have lost at least some of my mucus plug which was very exciting! I know this doesn't necessarily mean much but at least something is happening.

Oh good luck to everyone! I hope someone has some good news soon Smile

welshbyrd · 29/03/2011 13:07

Goodluck to you all, Im not pregnant, but know how horrible being overdue is.
First 2 babys, both 5 days early
Last baby? me, the MW and Consulant all thought a bomb would not get her out

Induced 40 +4, One lot of pessaries, a couple over hours for it to start working, then 31mins in labour Blush
Thoughts are with you x

oggybags · 29/03/2011 15:13

afternoon
nothing here Angry a few twinges but I'm reading faaaar to much into them
I have been drinking RLT, continuing with everything else and still nadda
have mw appt tomorrow so will be interesting to see what they say
presume they may sweep?
If youre being induced when do they usually do it? 40+10?
In an ideal world I'd be soo much better off if we could have the baby by 4.4, so I think I just gauranteed delivery for 5.4!!
anyone know how the C-section went??

Hi All,

Oggybags, just lost my mucous plug, eeeek. I think MW might be adding me to her list of successful sweeps if this means I'm on the way to labour land and I end up not being induced. Part of me is excited but the other part is absolutely terrified.

I'm feeling slight twinges in my stomach and lower back already.

x

clarkland · 29/03/2011 17:56

Mads76 how exciting.
My sweep was unsuccessful me thinks as in my notes it said 'unable to sweep' Cervix soft and effaced so that's a positive but still high and she said the head needs to come down a little (2nd pregnancy). I am 40+6 and midwife has booked induction for Sunday at 40+11 if no movement by then. She is going to do another sweep on Friday if she has no emergencies or home births so I will keep you posted.
I've had a few cramps and twinges today but I think that is just because she's had a fiddle.

YogaMummy2B · 29/03/2011 17:58

TMI ALERT - I have tried that much to induce the baby naturally I'm now not sure if my plug is coming out in bits or if it is EPO remnants or some of the stuff that got me in this situation in the first place!
Let us know if the sweep has worked, very excited that this slow train may start moving!!

oggybags · 29/03/2011 22:49

yay some progress ladies.... good luck
maybe I'll even have my baby soon Grin
keep us all updated!

Oggybags totally jealous but also delighted for you. Have you had your little baby yet? I hope everything is going exceptionally well for you.

Clarkland, yours sounds positive as well, hope things get moving quickly for you.

I've had absolutely nothing, not even a tickle. It could well mean I'll be making my induction on Friday, but if that's what happens, as long as little baby gets here safely, that's all that matters.

How are you today Yogamummy?

Keep us posted ladies and good luck.

YogaMummy2B · 30/03/2011 11:18

Hi Mads not a twitch here!! Off to the hospital at lunch, so will see what happens there.
Keeping my hubbie happy mind you! He is getting it on tap right now, although that doesn't seem to be working, so might have to play hard to get later!!
Drinking RLT at the mo and contemplating another walk! Dog also very happy!!!

Mads76 · 30/03/2011 11:33

Yogamummy you're thread made me laugh out loud hahaha

Good luck at the hospital today, hopefully it will be good news x

oggybags · 30/03/2011 12:18

mads sorry I gave you the wrong idea NOTHING happening, just wishful thinking
have mw this avo... i dont know what magic tricks I'm hoping she'll do though!!
Think I might book another session of reflexology tomorrow just so I have something to do!!!!

clarkland · 30/03/2011 12:53

Hi all
Nothing for me here either. lots of twinges and backache overnight but nothing of note today. oggybags well done you for keeping the family happy. I am the grumpiest I've ever been and I am slowly managing to alienate everyone!!! My dog (Roxy, beautiful black lab) and DP are definitley not getting what they need. I am in awe of you.
Maybe we will all be making those induction appointments!!! Nooooooooooooo

Shelbee · 30/03/2011 14:34

Hello...

I had a partial sweep yesterday (midwife couldn't quite do it properly) and am having lots of cramps and twinges today... mild contractions 15 mins apart this morning and now they are milder but more frequent. I am assuming that, even if they are very frequent, if I can fully function through them, I don't need to be calling my husband back from work or calling the midwife?! What do you reckon?

Fingers crossed for us all to get going properly soon!

YogaMummy2B · 30/03/2011 19:05

Bugger, bugger!! Only 1cm dilated and still very far back!
My BP is also playing up so have to go back to hospital within the next hour to get results of blood tests, they will then decide what to do with me!
If I manage to stay out of hospital tonight, I'm being induced next Wed. Everyone keep everything crossed for me, dearly don't want an emergency section!

clarkland · 30/03/2011 19:45

I am crossing my fingers. Let me know the outcome.x

YogaMummy2B · 30/03/2011 22:46

Well, finally home! Long day at the coal face hospital! From 1 pm until 10 pm. That is bound to make BP high!!!
I am totally wrecked, feeling very over emotional and want to go and hide somewhere.
My bloods came back as borderline, return to hospital on Sunday for more tests!
To make matters worse I have house guests with jet lag! My Mum and her husband. I love them dearly but think it might be too much at the moment! They have been with us a week and are set to stay until after the birth. Nocturnal bathroom visits waking me up and generally not having the place to myself is starting to make me a little depressed! What should I do?
