Right I might be just hormonal as I'm 28weeks with DC3 but omg I need to vent.

My friend is pregnant and Im fed up with the drama already. She said she weren't telling anyone then threw a whole hissy fit because people found out because she told so many people then she told me she's 5weeks but went for scan today and now she's telling people it says the baby stopped growing at 5weeks but she should be 7weeks. Is it just me or is all this a bit weird? Why would you lie about something like that? An now she's had to take time of work to rest.

Isn't the joy of being pregnant exciting enough without having to make extra drama.

I'm assuming its her first? bit confused about the weeks thing? Has she just got her dates wrong? Some people just naturally are drama queens. If she persists, you could do that really annoying thing by answering every comment she makes with something beginning with "When I was at that stage..."

Lulumama · 08/03/2011 18:56

in fairness, if she has had an early scan which is not genereally routine, she would have been referred for it, perhaps due to pain or bleeding or some other issue

if what she says is true and the baby has stopped growing and should be measuring 7 weeks, she is having a missed miscarraiage and that might require some treatment

she might have been told to rest

wait and see before you judge

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 18:58

The midwife went from last period but said its prob off as she has long cycles so said 7weeks but she thinks 5weeks but what I don't get is why she's just telling people 'yeah the baby has stopped growing' without actually saying the dates thing. She's always been a drama queen but I just feel like something like this isn't something you should extend the truth about.

Prob a hormone thing with me as well though.

No I'm not judging without knowing the facts I just know the facts that she hasn't told anybody else so everyone else is all over her when its more then likely just a date mix up which she is fully aware of but telling people its really awful bad news when she knows its prob not.

OP posts:
Lulumama · 08/03/2011 19:01

a date mix up of 2 weeks so early on would be hard to make

let's hope the baby has not stopped growing

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 19:04

I really hope so to and I honestly don't think it has. I'm just really annoyed that she's telling people wrong information to make it sound more dramatic. She only got a scan because she told midwife she was in awful pain (which she wasn't)

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 08/03/2011 19:04

Why did she have the early scan?

ShavingGodfreysPrivates · 08/03/2011 19:05

cross posts - sorry!

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 19:08

I know I prob sound a bit of a bitch and my patients are prob running low as it is but I just don't understand why people do stuff like this. Just hope her baby is fine and she learns to not be such a drama queen.

I think it's shocking that she lied to get a scan. I have just had light bleeding and had to wait over a week to get a scan! THis is following 2 previous miscarriages and a stillbirth. Luckily everything is ok however she's probably not the first or the last to do this.

(Rant over and hikes up judgy pants)

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 19:18

Oh rant away. I completely agree. They should save scans for people that actually need them. That's what annoys me, maybe its because I'm onto my third so its not all new to me but some of the things she's doing and saying are just unacceptable IMO.

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 19:19

Oh congratulations by the way and pleased that your baby is ok :)

Minione · 08/03/2011 19:28

Thanks. I genuinely hope your friend and her baby are ok, I guess this is just a bit of a sensitive area for me.

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 19:32

We had cvs with this baby so think maybe its just a sensitive subject with me as well. Hope you have a very healthy rest of your pregnancy.

OP posts:
Lulumama · 08/03/2011 19:39

maybe she was in pain

did she actually say she'd lied?

if that is the case, it does put a different slant on things, but maybe she is genuinely anxious

try talking oroperly to her. ,if she's your friend and crying out for attention, maybe something really is wrong

Scouseem · 08/03/2011 20:07

Well I know she wasn't in the pain that she told the midwife she was. Too many people know now a days what to say to get early scans etc when its just not needed.

She hasn't bothered with anyone for long time but I was still there for her when she announced her pregnancy and will still support her just wish she would act like a normal person inside of all this.

It must all have changed from when was pregnant with DS1 (nearly 18 years ago!).

I got hit by a car when I was 4 weeks pregnant. Broke my arm, leg and shattered my kneecap which required surgery to repair.

I asked - indeed begged - for an early scan as I was petrified that something awful might have happened. Midwife was rather dismissive and told me I just had to wait for the 12 week scan, which was torture.

nunnie · 08/03/2011 20:22

How do you know she wasn't in pain? I only told my DH I was in pain before my scan as I didn't want other people to be worried until I knew more.

Scaredycat3000 · 08/03/2011 20:25

Some people are just drama Queens, even men. My BIL went round telling people that his wife had a miscarriage. When I mentioned it to her she looked very annoyed and said 'No, I just missed 3 periods', he had told quite a few people. Also well before the agreed 12 weeks scan and tell general people, he said to MIL friend 'so has Mam told you she's going to be a Gran'. Cue lots of promises of total silence from friend.

WorzselMummage · 08/03/2011 20:26

I hope none of my friends slagged me off on the Internet during any of my multiple pregnancy dramas.

I'd be devastated think anyone I held close would be such a bitch.

If anyone had doubted me when my 12 week scan revealed a 8 week dead foetus I think I'd have probably broken their nose tbh.

You sound a bit mean.

Noddyrocks · 08/03/2011 20:41

I wonder why she was telling people so early. Maybe more people do now but I am waiting until 12 weeks until I tell anyone else. I have just told my parents today at 8 weeks. The miscarriage rate is actually pretty high at this stage and although its never nice to suffer an M/C (I imagine she only recently found out she was pregnant) It is not something I would want to share with anyone other than my husband so early on.

CrapBag · 08/03/2011 20:46

I understand what you mean about drama queens.

My aunt is terrible for it. Once I was on the phone to her and she said (all dramatically) "I've had a bit of bad news" Oh no, said I. "Yes, my car had failed its MOT" wtf?

My cousin accidently set his head on fire whilst he had Hedrin on. My aunt was going on about how he wouldn't be able to use his hands, how she would have to do everything for him and how could she claim disability benfits for it (he had some blisters that were bandaged but there was never any mention of his hands being permanently damaged). EVERYTHING is a huge drama and it pisses me off.

Hopefully she just hasn't not told you all the info though but if she is dramatic as you say she is then she probably would have done.

midori1999 · 08/03/2011 20:47

I agree you sound a bit mean and not a very good friend.

Even if there is a date mix up, you might be able to say you are sure it's simply that, but I doubt your friend can, I expect she is genuinely very worried. You only have to look at the threads on here where people have had early scans to not see quite what they expected and they worry dreadfully about it. (I have been there myself and in my experience EPU staff do try and give the best case scenario. When I had my early miscarrige it was obvious by my first scan I later found out, yet the staff still just said I was abit behind and to come back in a couple of weeks)

I hope your friend and her baby are OK.
