Today, at work, I asked my colleague if she would like a cup of coffee.

I went to the kitchen, I filled the kettle with water...

...I put the kettle in the fridge.

I have nothing more to say Blush

Grin I love this! Made me laugh out loud!!

Last Saturday I left the house and I literally forgot where I was going, I had to retrace my steps back indoors to remember I was going to Tesco to buy washing up liquid lol!

kampakat · 23/02/2011 19:33

Apparently it only gets worse...oh joy!

Saffra · 23/02/2011 19:35

Oh noooo! Grin

How many weeks are you?

lovemybabyboy · 23/02/2011 19:45

I am 5 weeks today and mine is really bad already, I keep forgetting things, someone at work asked me to do something and I kept forgetting, she ended up asking me about 5 times Blush
I cant remember it starting this early with DS 2.2yrs and dont think I had it with my little angel (mmc in august).
Its really quite embarrassing and because nobody knows I have no excuse for them as to why I am acting so dumb! :D

Saffra · 23/02/2011 19:56

Poor you - I'm 10 weeks and feel a bit scattier than usual (because more tired maybe). I'll start worrying when I leave the house naked....

ShazGJ · 23/02/2011 20:00

I went to work yesterday with my trousers on back to front!

Danilou22 · 23/02/2011 20:09

I tried to lock the front door by pressing the button on my car key! Took me ages to realise the sound I could hear was my car unlocking and locking on the drive!

I also stopped to get petrol on the way to work and then 20 mins later realised I was driving home!

jenga079 · 23/02/2011 20:44

I offered colleague a drink and poured milk in her squash and cold water in my tea.

mamadoc · 23/02/2011 21:02

Today I convinced myself I'd lost my purse in the supermarket. Retraced my steps back through the cafe, the toilets, the whole store, nearly sobbed on the man at the customer service when he said nothing was handed in.....not surprising really as a few minutes later I discovered it in my handbag Blush

Lynzilove · 23/02/2011 21:37

Bizarrely trying to lock the house with the car key fob is something I've done many a time pre pregnancy!! My only thing was trying to pour orange juice on my cereal and put the cereal box in the fridge. Realised what I was doing while struggling to fit it in sideways!!

PrincessScrumpy · 23/02/2011 21:42

I left my handbag in a trolly at Tesco and drove home. Was soooo tired (30 weeks pg) I made dh drive me back as I physically couldn't do it.

wasn't helped when customer service lady said no bags had been handed in - dh pointed to the one behind her that look like mine. "Fine" She said, "what's in it?" - I didn't have a clue and had to guess - I can't remember to take my bag with me, do you really think I know what's in it!?! Apparently my driving licence pic doesn't look like me and I had to use the cash card and pin to prove it was mine!

JollySergeantJackrum · 23/02/2011 21:45

The other day, After 15 mins of searching, DP found the mouse for our pc in a shoebox full of stationery. I have no memory of putting it there.

Everything I need to do gets written on my hand otherwise I will forget. Also, before I leave the house now I make a list of what I'm doing and in.what order.

33 weeks now though, not long to go.

Trinaluce · 23/02/2011 21:47

Last time I was driving away from picking up a takeaway when I turned to my husband and asked if I'd left my car keys on the counter. The keys that were in the ignition.

This time I was reading work's maternity policies and procedures and thinking it was really sexist as the whole thing was only talking about women. Well, DUH Blush

boredbuthappy · 23/02/2011 22:11

LOL

I once told my line manager that i wouldn't be in first thing in the morning because I had an antenatal appointment in the morning. Went home, went to bed, woke up in the morning and discussed with my husband the appointment which was to take place at 9:30am...all good....I then proceeded to shower, get dressed, and go to work. I realized what I had done when I was almost at work. Had to explain to midwife my stupidity and try and reschedule despite her very bisy diary. D'OH!!!

It is an ASTONISHING thing, baby brain.

kampakat · 23/02/2011 22:29

I am so glad that I am not alone!

I knew baby brain existed in theory - but until it actually happens to you - you really have no idea quite how strangely it makes you behave!

A couple of weeks ago I had a huge go at my DH because I wanted to make pasties using the packet of dripping we had in the fridge. I ranted and raved for at least 10 minutes because I was convinced that he had accidently thrown it away. It was, of course, already out on the counter top ... where I had put it ready to make the pastry Blush

In answer to an earlier question - I am 22 weeks ... so I have many more weeks to get through.

Fortunately I have a very supportive husband who is always on hand.... to laugh at me Grin

Hey ladies, I'm 22 weeks & yesterday at work asked a client if he had a driving license - reasonable question if client wasn't training to be a driving instructor, D'OH!

Also had an interview the other day, couldn't think of tons of words so spent the majority of the time saying "Erm..." Hmm

Smiler80 · 24/02/2011 11:36

I love this thread - it's actually made me cry with laughter! I haven't got anything really embarrassing to add yet (just generally scatterbrained) but I'm sure I'll be back... :)

thefurryone · 24/02/2011 11:55

Brilliant thread so good to know it's not just me!

Last Sunday I got everything I needed out of the fridge and cupboards to make DH and I a bacon sandwich, then decided whilst I was waiting for the bacon to cook that I could tidy the kitchen, so proceeded to put everything back in the fridge and cupboards without having used any of it!

I also seem to spend a huge proportion of my time just wandering around trying to work out exactly what it is that I got up to do.

kateepie2 · 24/02/2011 12:00

Oh dear, there is no hope...

boredbuthappy · 24/02/2011 12:09

I also frequently forget what I am talking about mid-sentence...I'm sure I start out with a point to make, and then it suddenly escapes me. Very embarrassing when you're having a serious conversation with serious people...

I also just now couldn't remember how to spell 'embarrassing', had to look it up!

theonlyhb2 · 24/02/2011 16:17

I have seemed to lose the ability to drive. I nearly crashed 4 times in one afternoon and then had a hysterical crying fit when a rabbit was run over in front of me and my OH wouldn't let me get out the car to help it (to be fair, I stopped in the middle of a busy main road, probably best I didnt get out). I was actually hysterical for days about it.

my driving is a little better but I really have to be careful. i also have something in my hand, move, then its lost forever.

Bumpsadaisie · 24/02/2011 16:19

Day before I got my BFP I took my change and my receipt from the barista in Costa Coffee, put the fiver in the bin and carefully placed the receipt, which I had been intending to chuck, in my pocket!

duckmum · 24/02/2011 16:38

Milk in the dishwasher.

Look vaguely at people trying to work out what I am saying to them, normally mid sentence.

Go upstairs only to forget what I am doing there.

Also very clumsy

jenga079 · 24/02/2011 21:05

Oh, and I'm a teacher. I can't remember any of my pupils' names (even my form group, who I've seen twice a day for the last two years) and most of my sentences finish with 'erm, what was I saying?'

I'm not showing yet so the kids just think I've lost it... Confused

girlfromdownsouth · 24/02/2011 22:26

Driving back from taking my friend to see a movie when very newly pg, went to do a u-turn in a side road and actually parked up instead - nowhere near either of our homes I might add!!
