Hi! I thought I'd better start a new thread now because it might get busy tomorrow morning and I don't want to lose you all Grin

I didn't know about the limit. I'm still completely humbled that I've had so many well-wishers Smile, so I feel a little self conscious. Although I think we've all been led down this path by the baby somewhat!

Am completely knackered tonight so will say goodnight and will endeavour to keep you posted on happenings tomorrow.

Thanks once again for keeping me company xxx

Morning southsea, hope you're ok. Chin up... Not long to go!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 10/02/2011 01:57

Something non committal like, 'A Southsearocks?' Grin

The passport size photos for British and US passports are different, so make sure you get the right size for the right country!

Not long now....

Sounds like you're in it for the long haul then! I was genuinely surprised when DC2 didn't just fly out after all the weeks keeping her in. Everyone was standing around expectantly, expecting some record-breaking insta-birth once the IV was turned on, but instead I sat there on a drip on full strength with nothing happening for ten hours Wink Talk about anticlimax - I'm guessing that's what you're feeling too!

(btw that exact scenario won't happen with you as the reason for it with me was scarring on the cervix but the irony of ending up with an EMCS after 18 weeks of bedrest to keep her in was not lost on me!)

As you've been told and as you say - you're early so it may take a bit of effort to get things going! But hopefully you can get a good night's sleep and have a 10th February baby :)

Good luck if I don't manage to pop back in before the birth!!

Jacksmama · 10/02/2011 02:51

Awwww maaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn!!! Was so hoping that everything would just kick off and you'd be in the throes of heavy labour by now.

I just had a :o thought re having had Cervidil put in and then requesting a sleeping pill... the story goes that my mum slept through the first stage of labour with me, woke up when her waters went and they had to race to the hospital to have me. From start to finish, she was aware of just over two hours of labour with me. She was 37 weeks and I was 5 lbs 5 oz... tiny by 1969 standards, but when I learned that babies can put on as much as a pound a week in the last month and told my mum that it was a good thing she had me early as I might have been 8 lbs 5 at term and as much as 10 lbs if she'd gone overdue, she was very grateful that I kicked in the door, so to speak!

Anyway, my point is... I would laugh my arse off if you took a sleeping pill, and the Cervidil went merrily to work doing its thing and you woke up in established labour and just spat the Pebble out!! :o Actually, I hope that's what happens.

Have a good night's sleep - thinking of you! Please, if you or DP can, update frequently tomorrow - I have to work and I know I'll be a snarky bitch to all my patients if I don't know what's going on! Not to mention that the rest of MN doesn't have nails left... :o
xxx Good night! JM

mathanxiety · 10/02/2011 03:47

All quiet on the western front so.

Hope you can get some rest. I spent the maximun time with the cervidil that had no effect (think it was 48 hours) before they induced with pitocin, which is very predictable in its effects in the majority of cases, so you could conceivably be in for quite a go of it. (I did manage to doze through the early stages though I woke in time to push). But hopefully, things will get moving soon for you.

LDNlady · 10/02/2011 06:33

Aawww! Was desperately hoping for news this morning! Hope you are okay and that you managed to get some kind of rest. Fingers crossed that everything gets going for you and you meet your gorgeous wee bundle soon. x

barmbrack · 10/02/2011 06:40

Morning southsea. Hope you were able to get some rest!

chimchar · 10/02/2011 06:59

Grin

good luck.....again!!!Wink hope all goes quickly, smoothly and relatively painlessly!

x

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 10/02/2011 07:07

Still keeping fingers crossed for you here! Hopefully the cervidil is doing it's job while you snooze :)

Teaandcakeplease · 10/02/2011 07:17

Awww I'm sorry things haven't moved along much yet. Hope today the Cervidil does the trick. My mum with her first baby many years ago was given a sleeping pill like JM's mum and slept through most of the labour until the very last bit as well Smile

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 10/02/2011 08:02

Oh dear!
I was induced, and it took three pessaries to start me off both times! It's boring waiting, but I suppose that's better than going straight into heavy contractions! It'll happen, just hang in there.
Are you able to get up and walk around once they take the monitor off?

MmeLindt · 10/02/2011 08:06

I was induced with both my babies, sometimes it takes a while. Hang in there.

Janus · 10/02/2011 09:08

Hi Southsea, how's it going!!
Computer crashed yesterday, no internet all day, kept thinking 'I wonder if Southsea has had her baby'!! Greetings from the New Forest here, not far from you, rain, rain, rain here!

AKMD · 10/02/2011 09:43

There was a lady in hospital with me who had been induced. Nothing had happened all day so they brought her up to the antenatal bay to stay overnight and try again the next morning. Twenty minutes later she gave birth on the ward! The midwives only just about had time to catch. So it really can happen all at once.

propercrimbo · 10/02/2011 10:07

Yippee, it's all happening for you Southsea, thinking of you today, hope Pebble makes an arrival, or has already! Smile

tinksbabyis2 · 10/02/2011 10:09

good luck :)

CrystalTits · 10/02/2011 10:21

Hey Southsea, hang on in there, it's all progress!

I slept through half my first labour, woke at 8am with 'twinges' and he was born at lunchtime - I'm sure my body was working away while I slept.

Then my DTs were born 6 wks prem at just under 4lb each, waters broke and they arrived 3 hours later after only 2 hours' active labour. Virtually shot out, I'm convinced it was that fast because they were such tiny mites.

Thinking of you xx

ckny1 · 10/02/2011 10:55

Hope you managed to get some good rest, Southsea, and are ready for some light but effective pushing this morning!

As for passport names, how about Thomas Jefferson (if a boy), Philly's other hero. Though Pebbles and Bam Bam are fabulous choices as well!

Looking forward to your great news soon!!! :)

oopslateagain · 10/02/2011 11:06

Marking my place here again... oooh its getting exciting! Hope you managed to get some rest Southsea!

WorzselMummage · 10/02/2011 11:12

Just poking my head round the door...

No pebble ?

.... Slinks off

Milngavie · 10/02/2011 12:24

Just popping by to see how you, Mr Southsea and baby Pebble are doing Smile.

Mumsnut · 10/02/2011 12:34
TastesLikePanda · 10/02/2011 13:11

Anything? No?
I can't spend another a day pretending to work on the internet but checking this every 10 minutes...

Wombletini · 10/02/2011 13:24

Just checking to see if baby has arrived yet.......
I should remember from my own experience that it can take a while, as DD took 4 pessaries & 3 days before she decide to grace us with her presence.
