I've come over to the US for a two week holiday to my partner's family. No problems at all in this pregnancy (my first). Then yesterday morning the waters broke! I've been admitted to a local hospital and although me and baby are fine we'll be here for the duration. It's likely to be three months! Baby could come any time between now and full term so we're keeping everything crossed (including my legs of course) it stays in as long as possible. Either way we're not able to fly home for a looong time...

Our baby will be coming back to the UK an American citizen - how about that? Shock Grin Confused

Pray the insurance works out for us!!

Hi Southsearocks, I have been following you since the start (can't believe it was 28th December and now we're 6th February!!). I hope you are managing to get the best sleep possible but you must be so excited!!
I have to be monitored with my labours as first was a c-section but I would say try and be as active as possible, with one hospital I couldn't stray very far from the bed as the leads etc were so short but even standing up and circling hips can be an amazing help!
Can't wait for your update, have an amazing birth.

BeatriceLaBranche · 06/02/2011 15:11

Just checking in, you are doing great!

DP cutting the cord and telling you the sex will be lovely for him, I almost think it makes things seem more real. Smile

Skin to skin contact is reasonable, but you have to remember that if you don't get it, it is normally for your or the baby's benefit.

DH cuddled DS for hours before I got to hold him (PPH) and even fed him. I wasn't very pleased about that but it wasn't the end of the world.

Please update when you can, I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hope everything goes as you want it to, wishing you all the best!!

MissMarjoribanks · 06/02/2011 15:57

Southsea - lurked on this thread. Best of luck tomorrow, really. Hope it goes well.

I was induced at 33+4 after the slowing labour drugs had worked a bit well yet I was too dilated for it to be safe to stop entirely. It was fine. I had an episiostomy which healed well.

I also managed to establish BFing. He was tube fed, then went to bottles, then on the breast from term + 1.5 weeks equivalent. We only quit at 12mo, so it can be done. Don't beat yourself up about it if you don't though.

DS was whipped straight from me and into SCBU after a 1 minute cuddle after birth - so don't worry if this happens.

Again, best of luck! Smile Smile
